  1. house parties - these seem to be the en vogue thing - nothing to do with the new smoking laws of course!
  2. a few ideas / links here
  3. love the breakdown in this one nice cheap funky soul record when I was in Philly in March, Shivelys had about 10 copies - $30 each - I took 5 and have got rid of 4 - may be worth sending him an email - may still have the others
  4. vulture boy
  5. not all styrene 45s are poo mind, I've got severally which are visually battered-to-buggery but play excellent
  6. you can still get to it via this link (if you really really must!) c*nt45 board
  7. yep 'comin down' is the side to play
  8. Mobbsy! Alright chap?
  9. Bob Holness on 'Baker Street' _____________________
  10. your sets were amongst the better ones I think you played Mack Rice which is one of my fave R&B numbers I'd like to see the NS room back in the main ballroom, which seemed to be pretty empty later on in the night. Dancing on carpet ain't good
  11. well, after bigging up Hemsby I have to say that I was pretty disappointed this time around - 80% classics. And one local DJ playing mainly off reissues. Still had a giggle though.
  12. That is bang-on. These days I am very selective with what scooter rallies/weekenders I attend i.e. the ones with a dedicated soul room. Then you get the scooters, your mates, better music, beer-free floors and don't have to stand next to idiots like this:
  13. 100% legal reissue of Steve Ellis' Loot now available on limited edition 45 Backed with hammond instro The Undertakers Song (1st time on 7" format) which also featured in the bawdy film MP3 of Loot MP3 of Undertaker Song To order & read associated gumpf please go here: LSD013 Cheers, Col
  14. Ras, we've got a spare wristband for the Fri night - it's yours for nowt but we need it back for Saturday Col P.S. 0 - 5 P.P.S. 5 - 0
  15. Hemsby this coming weekend is superb for NS fans The main room has cheesy northern with cheesy ska and cheesy powerpop etc The 2nd room has quality northern and R&B The 3rd room has quality skinhead reggae & original ska Everybody's happy A handful of my non-scooterist soul chums always attend Hemsby, it really is a good crack. 1700 confirmed as booked up so far. Col
  16. great record - I love it - has a great production quality and sounds superb played out loud - nice for early doors
  17. Beanos isn't actually closing The current owner is selling up lock/stock/barrel but it will continue as a record shop in the future There is currently a big sale on at the moment - very attractive discounts - a couple of mates visited last Saturday and found a fair few bargains - though you have to wade through an awful lot of chuff Col
  18. the buyer appears to have a strong get-out clause: Seller's return policy:Return Policy Details: I STAND BEHIND MY AUCTIONS. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED I OFFER A 100% SATISFACTION MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
  19. yeah, I've heard Karen play out a few times now - can put a good set together Col
  20. the vinylvault guys huna1950silver843 bought out one of the biggest and mintiest UK issue collections in the country - an estate purchase The Eyes EP is extremely over-rated IMHO - sound quality is low due compressing 2 tracks onto each side - better to hunt down the 2 normal 45s instead. It's also a pretty common EP anyway, always one or two copies available somewhere on the net. Saying that, I only have the EP - no pic sleeve so if someone has the EP, a hi-res scan of each side would be peachy thankyou very much! I'd guess Manship's copy is from this collection along with a lot of the UK 7s he currently has up for auction
  21. Action's version of 'baby you got it' works and 'never ever' Chris Kerry, Dominic Grant, Shevells, Tony Colton, George Paul Jefferson, The Untamed... annoyingly the Eyes EP is dropping in value as that Scottish collection has sourced up approx 30 mint copies
  22. Sorry Godz! who knows - these other 2 may also be bargains of ultra-rare UK R&R... not for collectors of UK R&R releases - loads of sought after pieces up to '65 and later....
  23. I wonder whether it wasn't commercially available? It says 'movie-radio music' where publishing info would normally be one sold for £13.20 on ebay last month same cat#, label looks the same, but a different 1961 UK press as it had the (intact) push-out centre as opposed to the solid centre yours has Col
