  1. Hooray, so pleased somebody else knows what I mean. My crew think I'm totally mad when I try and discuss it (it's a hard motion to point out as it's gone in a second!)
  2. I wonder if the downturn in handclaps has coincided with the upturn in what I call "the inquisitive periscope" move....
  3. still have a couple of boxes of those Flanagans if anyone wants one also, haven't plugged our last soul-friendly track, so here I go! Tammy St John's "Concerning Love" - a really hard pull on UK Tangerine - £6 on the link below in my signature YOUTUBE LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PGrW4Vqn_c
  4. above the item number on the ebay page is a 'report item' option - if ebay using soulsourcers click on this and select from the appropriate options, it should help Jules' case and maybe put a halt to sellers suspect activity. ***maybe not so much in this actual case as Sid appears to be fixing the issue, but it's something that can be done in the future.
  5. I guess that's because it's probably the same record.
  6. Keb's telling the story over on Facebook. Harrowing stuff...
  7. awesome place for record shopping! I loved my visit there - got loads of great stuff at decent prices. have heard one of the best shops, Record Collector, is closing down soon (or has already?) don't know how up to date this list is but it's better than nothing - plus there's a handy map: https://www.deadbeattown.com/stuff/stores.htm
  8. Lucas still does the EA pub circuit with his trusty karaoke machine. I last saw him in Refreshers on Lower Goat Lane, Norwich a few years ago. He's a total unit! As a pedant, I have to say both of these sites are actually RAF bases that host the USAF and both locations are actually in Suffolk
  9. I'm just a contributor/moderator over there but am proud to say I was one of the few that helped kickstart the project/undertook beta-testing etc. The site owners, Alan (Dr Doom) and Colin (Orbiting Cat) have done an amazing job I'm sure we all agree and the site goes from strength to strength. Like all good databases, it depends on its members and will continue to improve over time. I would recommend anyone with a passing interest in records (i.e. all of you buggers!) to sign up and submit a few releases that have yet to be added. You don't have to provide images (though that would be a big bonus) but simply adding releases to the database (esp. soul as the genre isn't as well represented as it should be...) would be greatly appreciated. It's a mammoth task which will never be completed but the amount of information offered and knowledge dropped over there is absolutely jaw-dropping. ....and if you don't already know, the doors have recently been opened to other formats via the 45worlds portal: https://www.45worlds.com/ Regards, Col
  10. Bang on. This is the crux. It does really look too box-fresh to be true but as Gordon points out above, there's no reason why it can't be if it's been stored away for most of its life. What we really need is an owner of a confirmed original to offer up pics/info to put it to rest (or indeed if Sharmo/Nico could provide pics of the copy seen in Amsterdam recently?). If it does get confirmed as original, it will definitely be put up for sale or auction as the owner isn't a soul collector (and would instantly rule me out of affording it ) Thanks for all the comments so far everybody Col
  11. Didn't notice it before but as gointoagogo points out, the 'r' in Masterpiece is different! Also, looking closer at how the label has been applied, it suggests this could be styrene? Do styrene pressing machines still exist? I've asked owner to confirm whether it's styrene.
  12. Yeah, the pics above are all from the same record - just taken at home, not in a photographic studio under consistent lighting So who's got a bona fide original to compare? Kitch?
  13. Hi Nev, that's not a boot. Seller describes it a dub (carve) and says pic used for sale reference is from an original. Cheers, Col
  14. Reason I ask, a mate has picked up an extremely clean copy in a batch of otherwise run-of-the-mill titles. Looks too good to be true? I'm not aware of any boot of this unless something has dribbled out recently?
  15. This pic of TT - never get tired of seeing it though! on a broader note, that bloody Laurel Aitken photo used to saturate the flyer market a few years ago.
  16. My mate has just commissioned a short run of reggae/ska label T-shirts, designed by Naoya “Straighta” Abe of SolidGold - £10 each You can get them here: plasticdreams 45 reggae/ska label Tshirt or email Andy directly at littlefellas_1@hotmail.com
  17. And the anniversary celebrations just get better! The event at The Talk weekend gone was superb. Loved the foyer area where loads of old posters/tickets were on show, bringing back loads of great memories. 18. Many people will already know Norwich's Backstreet Soul club are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year and are halfway through a 12 month celebration campaign of next level events. News of their milestone success has seeped through to the mainstream media and has also been picked up by other music fixated organisations. Here's a nice little feature from https://www.forumusic.co.uk/ with lots of nice pics: https://www.forumusic.co.uk/backstreet.html
  19. we have done a little research on our customer base and it is definitley the younger wave of vinyl enthusiasts buying these i.e. 20 to 30 years age bracket (so considerably younger than the usual soul collector). like our label, they are non-genre specific too, just interested in good sounds.
  20. thanks! it's no more than a hobby at the moment but we licence everything correctly, which slows down the momentum somewhat.

  22. heard it on R1 last night very decent and holds it's own better than most of the other mainstream/contemporary artists who try and capture the right sound
  23. even the adaptor on this issue is nice!
