Bobby Kline bottomed out at £100, Hyperions at sub 200 when only a few turned up from Skeeny - its always been the same and remember people stopped playing and buying anything that had been re-released or booted back from the beginning - I bought loads of post boot originals as dj's / collectors off loaded to fund newer discoveries over 50 yrs ago, only to off-load myself when I got fed up with things. Clara Hardy as stated and Betty Lloyd all hit rock bottom but powered back up as the realisation of quality and real world rarity prevailed. Follow the leader playlists and a majority of dj's who wouldn't even begin to understand the chronological order of discoveries or venue / dj playlists from history and there place in the development of the scene and who more importantly are stuck in the 'you scratch my back / I'll scratch your back' dj line-ups at most local gigs, resulting in dire playlists full of early / mid 60's British pop artists featuring heavily Can you imagine piling into the car to head 100 + miles to hear the latest big sounds if it was of the standard most local soul nights offer up nowadays - buying the current big-buzz must have / big ticket 45 oldie is driven by all reasons stated earlier in this thread and it'll only be on to the next one soon enough. Watch out for : Ghetto Boys - Hand Writing / Mr. Dunn - Something / John Bowie - You're gonna (already reappearing and rocketing) to name but 3 - The only plus point on these 3 is that they are beyond the compass or knowledge of most local jocks as well as all being blinders

In this information age and I don't even have a mobile phone there are numerous outlets that will give you the real value or availability of almost all sounds, particularly virtual unknowns - Popsike / ebay / discogs all have long standing info useful to all - You just need to be relentless particularly with discogs as it's buy it now and then gone but I've lost count of the number of times I've found a sound completely out of it's real or imagined price category and snagged a complete bargain and that's without the mis-spelling bargains. Discogs is also notorious for sellers appearing to be chancers with ridiculous price listings and that includes many British sellers of long standing ( they know who they are ) - ebay and Carolina soul and a few others always seem to induce a kind of bidding frenzy, often for virtually unplayable condition 45's I have no sympathy with people who overpay or have no knowledge or gumption to acquire 45's at all cost's, it's their perogative when all said and done and I suppose a lot of us do get a bit 'hot under the collar' at others actions. As for the Scientist's of soul - Be's that way - it was a soul pack sound 50 yrs ago and remains so - never been a sound so to speak and never will be unlike the Father's Angels MGM issue that I sold to a guy decades ago who came up to me at Greenfields Loughborough 3 weeks ago to tell me he'd bought it from me and it was still a highlight of his record collecting journey - a real memory jogger ( I'd always remembered it as a sale to JM in 1984 - turns out my memory had failed me on this occassion )

I think you're talking abot Bob Seger & the last heard - Heavy Music which was a big sound around that time - maybe a bit earlier, although not what we would know as northern nowadays as it pre-dates that term anyway. I remember having a copy in my early dj'ing days - probably played it a couple of times before it was swamped by the then never ending flow of great sounds coming through.

Must be just bad luck - recently no issues out of USA - 7 -12 days door to door - no interceptions either - I've had a couple that have got to Langley (Heathrow) and then got re-directed back to USA according to tracking but both got turned round in New York and arrived back here within 3-4 days. I do though engage with the sellers about not using anything other than std int. packet shipping as all the others are a waste of time and particularly money and are the thing that causes delays. Steve

BACK ON HOME TURF -THE CLOCK IS TICKING - 11 DAYS TO GO It may say Leicester but Quorn's and Loughborough's main man is back on home turf for only the 5th time in 48 yrs since the Fantasia / Quorn Apr 73 and The Saracen's / Loughborough closed in Oct 1974, bringing with him sounds across all those years - Remember IT STARTED YEARS BEFORE WIGAN AND DIDN'T END WITH WIGAN EITHER What do I play - not decided yet - anyone with requests give me a shout on here or direct on Soul Source - Vadnochka Either way looking forward to a great night at this great club - hidden away between the houses - Looking forward to meeting locals and those from further afield who remember the good times and / or just like great music - I've had 2 great nights there recently as a punter, renewing old friendships and making new ones Get there early - lets have a packer - The Boss is back Frostie Snr

Can only agree - I'm booked to guest at a local established venue in May and having only visited once before (last Nov) I took the opportunity to get another sighter last Saturday - end result - I'll have to temper my playlist to suit the gathered throng - this despite there being a fairly large crowd who remember me from the early / mid 70.s as the leading local dj - some couples even came to my wedding in early 75 - lot's of animated chat's and reminising on Saturday - I'll need to pick my timing to broaden the playlist and I'll be there early to stag the other dj's offerings. Anticipating a packer but who really knows. Get to the Quorn Soul Club - Greenfields sports - Loughborough - Frosty senior back on home turf It'll be hard enough at Thringstone next Friday and I'm a resident there !!

I think those Selectadisc finds were much earlier when it was situated in Arkwright St down from the station - probably 72/73 - I pulled a Professionals - Groove City out of there on a midweek visit whilst travelling back from a University interview in Sheffield - Got the Professionals but never went to uni - too busy with records and dj'ing back in 72 to focus on A levels. 5 pints for lunch prior to a 3 hr. 'A' level Economics paper didn't help. Derek Allen always told me he'd had Nabay forever but never played it much - just filed away on a shelf in his 15000 + record room. Great human being - never a bad word about anyone
