Just picked up this thread and actually busy getting ready for a big 1940's weekend so will be back another time with a look at the Leicestershire scene as enjoyed by myself and two brothers from '66 up till moving off the scene for the 1st time in '75 - Burlesque / Chicane / Fantasia / Saracens / Top Secret / Grand / Hearst and numerous others from when my elder brother Andrew kicked off with his Andy King American Hot 100 show - hosted in Mohair suit or as Herbert B Cecilwinkle in bubble perm & kaftan - last years big mod / soul reunion in Loughborough brought out so many pics and photo memories of bands / flyers / venues - I remember my brother taking me to a record shop on St. Nicholas Circle -long since demolished to make way for the underpass and the Holiday Inn which I'm sure was the first place to sell imports. Back later

Discogs copy in Feb - Must have written it down somewhere - date / price etc. - transferred to my wants list with photo on discogs - slight rip/scuff at 2.00 on label we can make it side and writing on I got my pride - ok at 10.00 and mum? at 1.30 with ring wear. So not the copy Tim's photo shows. I'm looking for the paper note - may have chucked it away. Report back if up-date

Soul City Tamworth Northern Soul And Motown Night
Vadnochka commented on David Wilkins's event in Soul Nights
Rare trip out into the wild this Saturday - Tamworth - previously a town only visited en route to the Cats in the early 70's despite only being 30 miles from home Looking forward to spinning some killers for your enjoyment and supporting Wilkies causes and meeting some old friends. Hope to see you there. Steve -
Esther Grant - 20,000 ish - thought it was mad but again disappeared Damon Fox - listed at £12000 currently but no takers for ages Another Mello Souls as well some months ago - looking to find a price - set sale as well - looking for more details
-
There's been a few mad price listings on Discogs recently - Charles Webster $12000 - as always buy it now - cannot prove it sold but after a few weeks it disappeared from the listings - I'll have a look at my listing records and see what else has been listed at $12000 + They've been others and I'll report back later.

Discogs - US listing - ridiculous - Scam ?
Vadnochka replied to Vadnochka's topic in Look At Your Box
Just a thought - never imagined response - particularly as someone had a pop about my prices Also got lots of satisfied buyers and remarkably my 45's exist - in fact 1 title I sold last year and apparently never got delivered on sp. del in UK was for sale from the same post code a few weeks ago - funny thing that ! -
Discogs - US listing - ridiculous - Scam ?
Vadnochka replied to Vadnochka's topic in Look At Your Box
Just pointing out that as Odd Fellows Soul replied (Tavasco) that unless you have a broad database or an inquisitive mind you will pick up the odd title listing that you want listed on the internet, unaware that it maybe is included in a similar price point long list of patently not available 45's. Ref my pricing - As someone who has been dj'ing / collecting for 53yrs and who gets descended upon in double quick time when I go out in the wild with a sales box and who has never owned more than 400 sounds at any one time - never been able to own them all and as those that Know - Know I churn my collection to be able to provide numerous play lists when out and that prior to the advent of 'PRICE GUIDES' - my big black index book that I carried all over the land in the 1991 - 1997 period was the go to reference point for those 'In the know' - I occasionally get it wrong - as we all do - net result - no sale -

Ebay prices - crashing - Sign of what's to come ??
Vadnochka replied to Vadnochka's topic in Look At Your Box
Guitar Ray - just gone for $317 albeit scuffed etc but even so -
Does anybody else see the fast reducing prices being achieved on ebay recently - even from major sellers - have a look at completed / sold listings Quality title 45's fetching much reduced final prices Is it the general economic climate / cost of importing / temporary re-balance or long term re-set. Ludicrous discogs prices ( always buy it now ) still causing sounds to stick for months, even years. I'm not imagining this as I've been relentlessly tracking stuff for decades Give me your thoughts / observations Steve

leave the price up - how many times do admin have to say
-
Middle of 2022 I had a special delivery go missing for the 1st and only time - ever - It was refunded by me. Now remarkably I find the same 45 up for sale from the same post code - what a coincidence eh. Anybody else have a similar experience

Value Please - Volumes - Aint Gonna Give You Up - Karen
Vadnochka replied to Gary Brown's topic in Look At Your Box
I used to play it as a near end of night sound at the Brit in the early / mid 90's along with another Detroit price climber - Masqueraders - How £40 - £80 tops for either but I did get a sales tape from a dealer with an attached price list - Volumes - Ain't gonna - Karen - £12 - already had one so didn't bother - There were a lot of other bit's at what look like ridiculous prices but as stated so many times it' was all relative to demand / rarity / fashion as it was and is still is. You only have to look at the archive listings presented on here. Somewhere in a wallet in my loft I have my first 12 weekly pay slips from 1st job upon leaving school in '72 after my 'A' levels and with them is an original list from the NME from Simon Soussan listing a batch of mail order titles, nothing over a fiver with his West Knoll Dr. Hollywood address - sent for a Maxine Brown - One in a million -out of stock - He sent me a Vel-vets - Find me somebody - 20th Century instead - I couldn't get much dance floor reaction back then so swapped it in Selecta-Disc - Nottingham for the Professionals - Groove City + £12 cash to me - IF ONLY now !! -

The great thing about discogs is that it is set sale or offer not auction - The number of top sounds I've found on there at a fraction of there perceived UK price I could not remember - so always worth a look but as all sites you have to be relentless or lucky - a combination of the two is usually a winning formula. So skip page 1 & 2 as you'll still be in the'000's. regardless of inflated prices and save 30mins of your life each time.
-
Further up-date - prices appear to have taken a further jump upwards from many well known British dealers that list set-sale items since I posted originally - absurd But it appears everybody's getting in on the act Got a price increase notification from Virgin Media today - 17% inclusive - Who the hell do they think they are -the 'nurses' Look also at the 1st page on Discogs - Funk/Soul (250) - ludicrously priced additions and mid rang (700 -1000) - Page 3 see whats in that segment.
-
RIP Dear friend / DJ colleague and all round great person - Those days in the 90's when in tandem with Andy, Mick, Glynn and the legion of other guests when we put the Brit back where it belonged are stand-out memories never to be forgotten. He will go down in history. Condolences to Ange and family Steve & Jan

Am I missing something but it would appear that the 1st page @250 items on discogs - funk / soul are almost exclusively priced not to sell. Absolutely ludicrous pricing from sellers world-wide - most have been up for sale for years- If you don't view this site - have a look ridiculous
