He's not on Soul Source, but I usually know where he is - so I'm happy to get PMs to put people in touch, as long as another tosser doesn't call me his PA! (Dylan - check your PM for his details) m

I'm guessing you mean Adobe? (The course should be easier to find now ) m

Somebody suggested this to me, but I could never understand why anybody wants to hear a record at their wedding, where the guy commits to not cheating on her (as if!) For our wedding last year, we pulled out a stack of our own records and eventually chose these for the service BEFORE THE SERVICE : And In Return - Shiela Ferguson BRIDES ENTRY: Lucky Guy - Charles Mintz STRAIGHT AFTER/DURING OUR KISS : You're the Best - LaRom Baker WALKING OUT: Your Love Is Getting Stronger - The Four Voices The reading was the words to Belita Woods - That's When I'll Stop Loving You Even the rings came in on a record, not cushion... symbolising how the music brought two souls from different sides of the world together ...and no, it wasn't tacky! For the meal, I compiled a 3 cd mix of love songs, also from our respective vinyl collections. They would take a while to list, but it's all still on my laptop and just giving me a smile now - Oh yes... and I cried like a baby when our godess Maxine Brown phoned to congratulate us m

It's shocking news. Please accept our deepest condolences. Our thoughts are with you all. Maria & Arthur

Dave lives in Melbourne and I can forward him your details if you PM me yours (else contact member 'Miss Goldie' who now lives there and knows him better). It's definitely the same Dave, coz when Arthur Fenn made his first trip out to Sydney, I flew him over to Melbourne for a soul night and Dave turned up. They hadn't seen eachother since the 70s. I'd always thought Dave was a shy funk guy until that night (he even liked the soul sounds I played ) Dave was also a bit of a vinyl junkie and I assume he still is. m (ps. I'm over here at the moment, but he's about 1,000 km away )

What do you mean your 'non-soulie' Oz mates? What about the rest of us I buy this rubbish cheap (it charted, so everybody of a certain age knows it) to sell on, but then I'm too ashamed to fly them over (or sell them) I'd rather we lost the cricket than admit to this being soul. Sorry, but that's just how it is :tomato2: m ps. It's after 3am in Sydney now and guess which two souls have severe jet-lag (Bit quiet here since I moved away, but at least Keb is on here this week )

I doubt this email address on >> this website << is still valid, but worth a try. Anyway, thought someone might find the other bits on there interesting. m

What's it doing on a funk compilation. it's not funk - It can't be funk. I don't buy funk I don't do funk Sorry I couldn't get Soul Sam to sell you his copy Johnny - not that I hear him play it anymore . It really is an uplifting raunchy soul sound - good luck with the dig . m

I had (assume still do) a 'Belles - Don't Pretend' with the same label on both sides, but it was pressed with both sides to play. I used to have to listen in the middle before cueing it, to work out if it was the right track . Another mispelt was Choice of Color - 'You Love' (which I think also came out as 'Your Love') m

Hey darling. I got the Numark one as part of my xmas present. It seemed to make sence as 'our' turntable is crap -mainly coz it jumps around for 70s tracks (and you know mine back home dates back to my high school days, so we're both as bad ). We don't really use it much, but I wanted to make some cd's for the car as I have a 60 mile trip to work & back (it's so boring!) plus wanted another turntable near my vinyl anyway. I followed the advice given in this members only 'PC, AUDIO & TECH AREA' forum I also read some online reviews and ratings and the Numark one could be plugged into ordinary speakers and some of the portable players (non usb) rated much lower with sound quality. Thing is, if you don't need another turntable - it's probably not worth bothering with. I recall you had a decent one a few years ago m ps. I promise to take some time and take it out of the box soon

Rob Thomas got an acetate of the OLIGS side from Popcorn many years ago, although it's owned by someone else now. m

It was 50 dollars for the gold probably 4 or 5 yrs ago. I bought two and I'd happily sell my gold ones for 75 pounds each if anybody wants one, pls PM me (not sure if they are both over here, but have seen one in the boxes). ...I only play my green one anyway m

My friend Alex (Alexandra) White used to play this in Sydney about 6 or 7 years ago. The audio file probably came from the Oz national annual weekender commemorative cd around that time - that would make sense if he took it from the ktfaudio list. I was an original contributer and posted up the tracks, given that we had to compile that years cd. All of us who liked it, also picked up the LP - nobody ever found it on a 45 as far as I know, so would very much doubt it existed. But one can never say never m
-
do I qualify ? (I moved here a couple of years ago, but I played out lots in Sydney etc over 7 years) m ps. soul music pretty much died after 1979 ...well, just after LaRom Baker released the ultimate love song

when i get very tired, I talk to myself OUT LOUD. Sometimes I forget this and so, after reading your post, I heard an echo in the room that went something like "It's Memphis... the hi studio guy sent me 6 copies in the early 80s then I got 6 more when I went to memphis" ...and there's me thinking the bats back home were noisy (m )

I've had mine for a long while, but pretty sure I'd paid about 400. Think I saw it for 500 last year? Know the other half ended up trading his to a dealer, bcause he couldn't sell it! I would never sell mine... not for a fair price anyway m

It's most certainly NOT Doug Parkinson. That version was very much on mainstream radio in Australia ...we all grew up with it, so never understood the attraction in the uk. I don't know who the audio version is, but I think it's familiar . There's a 90s 'smooth jazz' version by RUSS FREEMAN & THE RIPPINGTONS which could be it, but I think the OTIS GAYLE version might have a reggae twist. Perhaps they're worth asking about? m
-
I'm sorry to ask, but are you serious??? ...Who cares, who shags who. Just tell your mates that because the songs are mainly about love, they'd rather not look at that woman they see every day . Besides, if the music moved them and they met some nice people on the scene, they would not care about statistics unrelated to vinyl or artists. m
-
if it's on some mother... label, I'd part with mine for the right price. PM me if still keen. (Paypal preferred). m

With respect to 'lost love', some of that general theme that still do me some damage inside, are: Sea Shells - Quiet Home Maxine Brown - Don't Leave Me Baby Eddie Hughes - Soul Searcher Psychodelic Frankie - Putting You Out Of My Life Byrdie Green - Don't Make It Hurt Out-Of-Sights - For the Rest of My Life Chuck Holliday - Just Can't Trust Nobody Linda Jones - What've I Done To Make You Mad The Inticers - Since You Left m

Oh, I used to be chronic with unopened boxes . I worked out there are three psychological causes for such a ritual: 1) Storage problems or trying to save your pennies -> It's a good way to try tell yourself that you have enough records, if you have another to open. I improved my ways after I had a special cabinet made and I'm bad again after moving here without it. 2) The buzz is sustained longer when you have 'just one more' to look forward to - then open them at a special time set aside for enjoyment. ...Problem is, a busy life can mean they pile up even when there's no plan/cause 3) I get too emotionally attached to my vinyl (not healthy), so I treat them rough when I take them out and I try not get too excited when they arrive by avoiding opening them too quickly Anyway, I'm much better since I got 'done' on one a few years ago and I've always aspired to be "normal" via justification, so I am! ...and so are you! As if I'd get a spot at that annual event anymore Too much competition now and I don't represent a city these days. Besides, I relish to memory the abuse after safe Saturday night spots that weren't "proper northern" - Have fun, stay awake, keep to the programme and don't go upsetting anyone ...again I'll see you early in the new year as I'm gagging for some summer and family (been looking at flights around my future social calender), and if I get the opportuntiy to "step into The Soul Room" whilst I'm in my home city - yippee!!! m
