  1. Your wagon must have a bloody sight better seat than my Mondeo has Karl ...
  2. It was the eight hours sat on my arse in the driving seat there and back that killed me , I'm on my feet from dawn 'til dusk and sitting's never agreed with me ... that's my excuse anyway ... lol
  3. Glad it's not just me Karl , I'm still only running on about 40% and it's the Wednesday after...
  4. Luckily the dreadful quality of most of the videos posted on YT are as easy to spot/ignore as the dodgy soul nights that plague the calendar ... (footage shot on first generation potato-cam phones with talc-clogged microphones are embarrasing in their format let alone their content ) ... and from what I've seen the two seem to go hand in hand so I rarely encounter them ...
  5. No need for it , wouldn't attend a do if I knew it was filmed/photographed on a regular basis. I want to be in my own little world when I'm doing my thang not a part of someone else's little YT world , it's bad enough having someone wandering around the dancefloor setting off a flash right in front of you ... lucky for some I know the value of cameras/lenses otherwise there'd be a coating of crushed glass to replace the talc ...
  6. Give or take one every six weeks , mostly nighters and the occasional all-dayer. There are enough 'must attend' events to feed my needs and they jump out at me from the events guide. Not for me the "same old , same old , week in week out". There may well be umpteen things on every weekend but as the majority are in my opinion 'Mickey Mouse' soul nights they get for the most part ignored in favour of the 'proper' events that cater for my increasingly selective tastes. There are those that are out every weekend and fair play to them , but as I recall from the nineties when we were out somewhere every weekend it all becomes more like a chore than a night out and the spark goes out .
  7. Personally I'd rather listen to a good DJ playing top class 'OVO' than a bad one playing boots ... Hence I shall be making a 4 hour drive up to North Wales tomorrow to hear the likes of Colin Law , Kitch , Roger Banks , Dean Anderson , Chris Anderton et al rather than wasting my time at some Mickey Mouse "Keep the Faith" soul night in a pub full of clown suits and piss'eads , and then counting down the days until the next 100 Club in February.
  8. Says someone who just last October had a mini-rant about boots/reissues .... "I'm getting real tired of all these reissues and bootlegs. It took a lot of time and money to get some those, particularly the Love Crime EP, to just have every one and their mother get those. It's gonna get played out quickly ... "
  9. Especially when it was his old lady doing the booting ...
  10. Hope to see it rise somewhat on Saturday sir ...
  11. So how come you advertise your Brighton do as ...... "BRIGHTON'S LEGENDARY DJs SPINNING ORIGINAL 45s NORTHERN/MOTOWN/R&B - (WITH STUFF IN-BETWEEN!)!" Soul bobbies might have a Perjury case in the making there ...
  12. Real one styrene , vinyl booted demo with Gypsies on flip.
  13. Soul Police Care in the Community Support Officers more like ...
  14. Trust me it couldn't have been the real soul rozzers , they'd never be seen dead at a soul night full of 'kin' 'andbaggers ...
  15. "Chicano Power - Thee Midnighters" ... La Raza. "Socking Soul Power - Simtec Simmons and Wylie Dixon" ... Toddlin' Town. "The Power of a Woman - Spencer Wiggins" ... Goldwax. "Green Power - "Jesse James" ... 20th Century Fox. "Green Power - Lewis Clark" ... Fuller. "Green Power - Katie Briggs" ... Columbia. "Soul Power - Abraham and the Casanovas" ... Murco. "Power of Love -Amanda Humphrey" ... USA Records. "The Power of Love - Kitty Love" ... Dade.
  16. Thanks Dave , And now I have "that" scene from 'Spartacus' in my mind but with the chorus of "I've got Eddie Parker ... " resounding repeatedly ...
  17. But with prints they are generally a known number of copies and numbered as such are they not ? ( i.e 1/500 or similar , discounting the many fakes and repros of course.) Even my copy of Mr Manship's latest guide is numbered 995/1000. Life would be a bit easier if record companies had used a similar system on the labels ... lol
  18. Three FW's including the test pressing , but no doubt someone knows someone whose Aunty had a postman who knew the janitor in the company that supplied the firm that made the boxes that Berry used to pack 45's in ... etc , etc , etc .... As to the rest it's muddy waters as there's the balance (or not) between 'rarity' and 'demand' ... plenty of "not rare" records make more than "rare" ones purely because of renewed popularity but they're not available because the copies are locked away in 'collections' and they seldom appear for sale .... but just because there are no copies for sale does not mean that there were not thousands pressed and distributed and surviving. It's a subject that's been covered umpteen times before on here so I'll shut up now and let you search the previous discussions/arguements/battles ... have fun now ...
  19. But he was presumably playing a 'new' acetate he'd acquired/had cut ... ? ( alongside numerous others he had around then , I seem to recall him playing a bunch of them at a Ritz nighter around the time) I meant to say "first available" to us lowly punters who had to make do with the CD ...
  20. First available on the 4-CD box set in '94 , remember it well as it was the first CD I bought in order to get the unreleased stuff. Most expensive CD I've ever bought as I had to go and get something to play it on too ...
  21. To remove without leaving any evidence of the label is 100% impossible , not almost so. But a "slowly , slowly , catchee monkey" approach with Zippo fluid and a new scalpel blade (#10 or #23 preferably ... convex blade) in a steady hand will remove them . But if you are not particularly dexterous , or it's the Sunday after a nighter then I'd advise leave well alone ...
  22. For labels with water-based adhesives ...
  23. Lighter fluid ... carefully and patiently ... apply with a Q-Tip and wait until it starts to ease at the corners then more fluid ... and repeat as required.
  24. Pretty sure it is Karl , not a clean stamp though looks like it 'bounced' on impact and made two or three indistint overlapping impressions. Tried enhancing it but the image quality doesn't stand up to much enlargement.
