Like everything in life too much of anything will very soon render it stale , if they were in the hands of every wannabe DJ , being played at all the pissant soul nights that are suffocating the calendar , then like all the other myriad tunes that have been booted the magic would be lost.

Absolutely not , the so-called 'scene' is so "watered down" these days that it would be a dreadful thing if every 'Tom' , 'Dick' and 'Harry' had access to Mark's wonderful collection of unknowns and one-offs ( along with all the other exclusives owned and played by that small band of brothers such as Kitch and Colin Law to mention just two ) The fact that you have to make the conscious effort to rack up the miles in order to catch those brittle 10" bundles of joy , that you can't hear at every Mickey Mouse soul night or tired oldies nighter , is all that is distinguishing the "proper scene" from the sanitised sadness that is tagged 'Northern' these days . Long may Mark continue to keep his one-offs as one-offs and his cover-ups well covered up ...

Can think of lots of things to spend this kind of money on , but this awful racket sure ain't one of them , I assume that Master Manship chucked in a big box of Kleenex in with the 45 as the new owner will be needing one and not just for wiping away the tears when his next bank statement arrives ..... ! I'd rather add 1062.2 ten quid tunes to my box than this single 45 ...

Would prefer it if the topic remained open to be honest Mike. Think it would be wise however to see how the story unfolds over on FB to prevent any possible libel implications here on SS which is what I'm sure you are thinking of. If the accusations are in fact proved true then the story will need spreading far and wide including here on Soul Source but until then it's probably best to back off and let the torch and pitchfork crowd get on with it elsewhere.

Think it's a brilliant idea , get all the divs , clownsuits and handbags together once a month in one massive 'central' venue like the NEC , it would free up both the poor overburdened Events Guide here on SS and leave the rest of the land div-free for the rest of us ...

Proof positive that pulling three random "dick-waving" 45s from a box does not a DJ make , kicking off with a stormer like Ray Agee and then going straight down the fluffy midtempo route might have the "glued to i-phone chinstrokers" getting semi's but it would not endear you to the dancers ...

If it were up to me they'd be handed in at the door or admission would be refused ...
