  1. Some nice ones here Howard at great prices .Boss Four should be a main room play imho
  2. Compared to demo Issue maybe not rare but certainly also sought after. Copies offered for sale very quickly sold. Gets a great response when played out.
  3. As always some great tunes played - great to see Gene Pitney, Aretha 'wonderful 'and The Bitter and the Sweet all featured. Makes me think about returning to the UK LOL.
  4. Nice to see 'a taste of honey' getting a spin .
  5. looking forward to hearing more .....been a long time since we visited this wonderful city.
  6. Dave West on here had one for sale
  7. recommended- bargain price . Waterfront Blues and Soul Club play and i believe Soul Sam ? I think all labels are off centre .
  8. ''f*ck Art Lets Dance' T-shirt in 1980 like me - its a Mod thing' indeed it is & memories of The Name , 79 mod band and title of their 1st 45 scheduled for release on Virgin's Din Disc label in 1980 but then label put out as 'forget..' to get airplays - original recording surfaced on Detour LP 'Whats in a Name' - happy times
  9. still looking - anyone please ?
  10. HI Marc , bet the Met was bouncin ' with this set -nice to see Bamboos included.
  11. Great record , a long time previously unaffordable oldie 'want' for me
  12. Must be something special you've got lined up Dave as you havent had this gem long
  13. Hi Martyn, Like you I 'm disappointed if that’s the reality and widespread acceptance of where the scene currently is ...perhaps i’m part of a very small minority (?) who as well as enjoying quality oldies events , weekenders both large and smaller etc , I’m always on the lookout and prepared to travel when we can to an event that embraces all soulful genres — as i enjoy the opportunity of listening to them all — open mind and ears etc and recognition that my education will never be complete — all part of a fascinating journey which i fear is becoming a little stale ...
  14. have you any more info Pete ?
  15. great post Russ .... here's hoping along with a quality venue.
  16. Some of the artistes featured on this thread appearing live @ 100 Club
  17. So good to hear how good this one was - remaining dates destined to be exceptional.
  18. good post and can't disagree as majority on the scene today, judging by numbers at mainstream/oldies & motown events, are untouched by progress.
  19. go for it Paul....heard good things from young Maxwell so if we can we'd make the trip to such an event. Only been to Dulcimer once - mighty impressed with tunes, energy and variety so looking for another excuse....
  20. Big Waterfront play since the early days of release- highly recommended - buy whilst still cheap
  21. One of the highlights for me at York Soul Club a few years ago as a John Parker play as his Clydie King c/u
  22. remember some fabulous and exciting new to me tunes being played by Paul Sadot , Karl Rhodes etc at Steve Cato's nites .
  23. Good posts and what we try (and sometimes succeed) with the no boundaries and freestyle remit to the imaginative guest record spinners at the Waterfront . An opportunity to play what they can't elsewhere. Helps if the promoter isnt under pressure financially to get large numbers through the door.
  24. Forgot about this one - never seen a 45 release ? but pops up on the Record Kicks compilation from 2008 as an 'unreleased' track. The Sweet Divines 'Heckuva man'
