And another pre release review, this time from Alan May. ‘DOJO CUTS Aint got no reason / Uptight Last Bastion records LB04. Review 20/02/2023 A, Ain’t got not reason has the atmospherics somewhat haunting with a clear vocal from Roxie Ray which sits with the track from the outset to finish. I can see this track in a 1960’s inspired movie like a bond or prisoners type feature with sophisticated blend of soul, and drum beat jazz shifting smoothly but in equal measures… B, Uptight, was always one of my favourite wonder tracks, this version takes it to another level, upbeat , up-tempo and never up tight………I love the way the track moves swiftly, hooks and curls and Roxie’s fantastic vocal has you believing the message. what is a perfect modern cover taking the track into noughties….everything is alright…….
