  1. if you can't find that, you could try something by the Eagles or Doobie Brothers, probably easier to find and has a similar effect on your ears
  2. you don't have to get worked up about it, but there is a response address you can mail to point out she is wrong?
  3. i mentioned this on EMS on Sunday night, I wrote in Sunday afternoon straight after reading it, not that they'll print it, but if i win any HMV vouchers i'm going to buy Miranda some Kent CD's. the correct address to mail is omm@observer.co.uk which someone has mentioned above, mail 'em so they get the message. cheers Sutty

  9. if you spell 'bach' phonetically it's 'bok', it's a play on words, like 'man to vani'

  14. I assume you'll not be complaining about the exchange rate being out of control making it worthwhile buying from the U.S. in the first place though?
  15. whether they were bootlegs or reissues, gwen mcrae, both dysons faces and jimmy conwell have been reissued as i have owned them all. i believe jimmy conwell lp was a jap one, it may have even had blues interactions or the like at the bottom of the sleeve or label. 'melody of life' was repressed a few years back as a look-a-like, you can tell from the sheen on the label it's not an original, rhythym machine is definitely a reissue/boot. dysons faces are well known as being reissued, and have just been reissued again only last week. cheers Sutty
  16. eon is also an lp only track, about 6 or 7 mins long if i remember? less than a tenner. https://cgi.ebay.com/EON-SELF-TITLED-SCEPTO...1QQcmdZViewItem cheers Sutty
  17. he's deaf as well as illiterate, her prefers Tommy Hunts version of 'Get out' to Harold Melvin :fool:
  18. don't sleep on the Scott Walker version either, you may be pleasantly surprised when you hear it
  19. maybe they could have done something more subtle like public toilets, then they could have just had a big "W.C." sign at the entrance. those 'in the know' (that's you lot) would realise it's a homage to Wigan Casino, whereas your general Joe Public would just go in and have a fart?
  20. i sell on gemm every day, there are various options a seller can choose but the bottom line is, what you see as the price when you buy is what you pay plus postage and packing as stated on the sellers gemm page. gemm does take a % of the sale price directly when the item is paid for, but not of the postage and packing cost. i often mail people if i know them, they are buying something 'expensive' or multiple items to let them know its cheaper to deal with me direct. all in all, i think gemm is easy to use, works well, and the feedback from gemm if there are any problems is very quick and you get a human mailing you not a machine. very few problems with them though, or any of the buyers or sellers, much prefer to ebay myself, cheers Sutty
  21. i was even more surprised to see that 'heard it through the grapevine' came out in 1968, and 'what's going on' came out in 1967 LOL. quite what the point of those 2 pages was is beyond me, got a new distribution deal in outer mongolia maybe and trying to appeal to the local market? cheers Sutty
  22. i disagree sebastian, the single is almost mastered in mono and has changed the sound of the track, and the 45 also sounds slightly faster, maybe notched up a quartertone which is not uncommon, but it's the same recording to my ears, certainly from the 45 and lp i've owned. the drums are way back on the 45 for instance and the vocal sounds more 'intense', and the 45 is slightly 'muddier' due to the cut. i've been in cutting rooms many times and witnessed the surprising changes that can be made to a track during the mastering. cheers Sutty
  23. man up in the sky
  24. https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildatar.php...nr=300060897304 velvets made only (only!) 25,200 dollars which about £13k at the moment, not £80k?
  25. haven't got one for sale, but you may be interested to know there's an in-depth inverview with Freddie in the latest Wax Poetics mag, well worth picking up cheers Sutty
