  1. we just listening to the windy city lp with 'win or lose' and 'good guys don't always win' on, will sort out soundclips Sunday! 'win or lose' is just wonderful! cheers Paul
  2. apart from the blatant shill bids on there to get it up to £49, the £49 bidder appears to buy patches like they are going out of fashion (oh, they already have? oh, nobody told him that), and apart from a couple of wigan comps, he's got himself a tweed jacket and a lay-z 4-seater spa. i can picture him now, 'best of the casino' blaring out of his portable cd player, tweed jacked covered in patches, no trousers on, waving his waist around with his legs knee deep in water and foam, doing synchronised handclaps to 'the joker' to impress his dinner party guests... i hope i get invited

i don't understand the question as such. the green and white 45 was played out all the time when it came out, i would never have assumed it wasn't being played? why the soul police enquiry now, it's a bit like closing the gate after the horse has bolted. There is no original release, just keep playing a great northern soul record! cheers Sutty
  6. i have the original and it's on Blue Thumb. The repress/bootleg I saw from a few years back was done on polydor labels. what label is yours on? cheers Sutty

no need to take offence, ok then since you asked LOL modern rooms tacked onto a northern room will be empty, generally. the northern scene is a noose around the neck of modern soul. nothing wrong with the northern scene in the uk, or the great 60's music often played, but as long as you try and tell people its a 'progression' from 60's, you're on a loser. its not progression, it's something else entirely. wanna get more people in? forget appealing to the 60's scene who are happy thanks with their own era of music, and try and advertise and pull people who don't care if it's on a rare acetate they bought for £800 or a fridge magnet, like other music apart from soul, such as funk, latin, house, etc. and play what is termed as modern soul be it 70's or new or inbetween. alternatively carry on having the same ludicrous arguments about it all. but above all enjoy yourself or its pointless. and make mine a babycham. IMHO.

this subject matter, what is modern soul and all that, is a prime example of a topic that never existed before people got to chat about it on the internet. prior to that the main topic of conversations were 'this is shit' or 'it's your round'. IMHO.
  10. if i remember the KOT mixes are with the black label as above, the original mixes was a different colour, green or blue? can't recall too well as never picked up the original mixes, cos as derek says, they're not too hot. and they are all boots anyway i think.

dudes clearly rockin some heavy plates. or he's some student f**kwit who thinks its really clever to look self-important in record stores jivin way above the usual volume level 'bout his nigerian afro-spaceship wares. you sound like you so far advanced i might just give up and go back to listening to music other people have heard of. aka everything that's wrong about record co-lecting.
  15. hi Mal it's bacharach and david 'are you there with another girl', Brill Building NYC, demo'd by Dionne Warwick like the rest of their material in the 60's. cheers Paul

there were genuine reissues that were on bgp i think, they also put it out on cd? clearly not originals - but it has been booted as a look-a-like reissue complete with gatefold sleeve, not seen the label on one though. mines a demo and is on the brown fantasy label, i suspect the labels will look 'wrong' on the reissue they usually do on all these boots. cheers Sutty
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trfES5CMgs8 this album came out a few years back to no interest whatsoever as far as i can gather, features previously unreleased (i think) material including the don blackman track featured on the link. if you like a mellow stepper it's for you cheers Sutty
  18. and on the subject of don blackman, check the esperanto album on soul jazz from 95, containing 'glad that you were mine', also on a 12, but theres plenty of good tracks on the album. the 45 under discussion is now way rarer than the album. i'll rephrase that. it's way harder than the album, neither are really that rare at all.

oi Russ come on m8 let's ave ya! get out of that bed and back with the family! hope to see you very soon and here's to a speedy recovery paul & jay x
  20. yes it is, just put it on, thanks - i've been sleeping on that one for a long time. always good when you hear a quality record and you already own it. now this thread means next in line is the kellee patterson lp
  21. the track on the sso lp that's in demand is 'faded lady', which has been sampled and i believe also came out on 45, but i may be wrong on that bit.
  22. nice to see you've all bought it as it's out of stock already LOL
  23. thought some of you might be interested in this, probably of dubious origin but as it was unreleased... https://www.juno.co.uk/products/279832-01.htm cheers Sutty
