No, that's definitely not the boot, that's a house remix 12". There was a bootleg e.p. of the original and this was the first track on one of the sides. cheers Sutty

Rocky One is a late reissue, shouldn't be going for very much at all unless the ethic of playing originals doesn't count any more? lol Seriously though, that reissue is not rare at all i've had at least 10 sealed copies go through my hands over the last few years and i'm not even actively looking for it. cheers Sutty

came out on a bootleg 12" at the time, used to have a copy, don't think it was ever released on vinyl officially, although it was promo'd https://www.discogs.com/Donell-Jones-Ill-Go/release/2178722 cheers Sutty

you have mail! cheers Sutty

yes it exists, I had a copy and sold it a while back, it was available online at the time of release for £2.99 but sold out fast, has a smokey track on the other side, cheers Sutty

i'm surprised at the general rejection of this, as Russ says it's not that long ago that a 1.30am start was perfectly normal at the 100 club for a start, nobody even considered it an issue to stay up all night? it is after all, al nighter we're talking about here. I see more and more 'nighters' advertised at finishing at 4am, and some even call them 'mini-nighters' (wtf?)... which is all b-s if you ask me on the promoters part - it's a soul night. however from a 'go-er' point of view there's been a major change with the new licensing laws in the recent past where bars can open much later/all-night and serve alcohol, and with the general decline on late night venues caused by late night licenses, particularly where I live on the south coast - meaning 'why am I going to pay to go to stay up all night when I can do it all in a bar for free' - I can't see a venue owner wanting to bother opening up all night to sell soft drinks. So, IMO, it's a tough hill to climb Russ, not just to convince people to come along, but to find a venue owner willing to go along with the idea in the 1st place. But it's certainly not a strange idea, it wasn't that long ago it was the norm wasn't it? and we had good times, didn't we? I know we did! you back over soon? hope to catch up and love to the family! cheers Paul

100% bootleg for the breaks crowd, i have one of these sitting around somewhere, it was sold in the independent shops at the time, probably just pressed 1000 or something. Certain it's a UK press as all the rest of the boots at the time were like the numerous funk/breaks white label comps with stickers on. value - a fiver. good pressing though! cheers Sutty

Now Sold, many thanks cheers Sutty

BLACK SUGAR "TOO LATE" 7" Original Peruvian press on P P discos Sono Radio visually VG+, plays superb, nice loud cut, light surface noise from the pressing on the strange droning intro which from someone elses youtube clip below appears to be a common problem? (you'll know what I mean if you know the record) Labels state 'Too Late' both sides but this is the issue with "Viajecito" on the other side £250 or make me an offer I can't refuse! paypal at no extra cost and post free signed for worldwide, drop me a PM or mail soulcitizen@yahoo.co.uk cheers Sutty

there was a volks last summer, usual story though. 100 people there in the afternoon, all the mods clear off home for their tea about 6, leaving about 10 people, and the place got shut at 10. The main reason nobody does anything in Brighton is everybody wants another do then NOBODY BOTHERS TURNING UP, I gave up on this town years ago

No it's not, I had to endure the Everley Brothers there for a few secs on youtube to check, not a pleasant experience. It's totally different: cheers Sutty

Sorted now thanks

Johnnie Taylor - Ain't That Lovin You (For More Reasons Than One) on blue Stax 7" Drop me a PM or mail soulcitizen@yahoo.co.uk - i'd prefer a nice UK copy but USA is OK as well, thanks Sutty

oh, ok, so it's actually a northern 'best before 70' soul weekender that's wanted, I didn't realise that 'rare soul' was a sub-section of 'northern soul', I though it was ummm... 'rare soul'

I was at a record fair and all the records were priced quite cheaply and had '1', '2', 5', etc on them, then I came to a mint 12" of this and it had '50' on it. I was interested in the record and pulled out a few other bits as well and was chatting to the guy a little and picked the blair 12" up and said 'I'd quite like this really...' to which he replied... 'that's 50 pence then please' So I obviously paid him for it immediately, he wrote the sale in a notepad with the price and I strolled off to the next stall. I then overheard him saying to someone else who was trying to barter with him about how they were his mates records and his mate had gone to get a sandwich and would be back soon so he could talk to him then about a deal. About 10 mins later i'm on the other side of the room just about to walk out, and I glanced over to where he was in the corner and I could see some red-faced bloke with a notepad in his hand, waving it around then holding his head in his hands whilst appearing to be shouting at the guy i'd bought the record off... which led me to a moral decision... do I go and hand the record back... what would you have done? I'm selling BOTH Original Frankie Zhivago albums - 'The Age Of Flying High' including 'someone stole your love', vinyl has a few light surface marks but plays absolutely great and they don't affect play, sleeve is in shrink and has fading through age only - and his 1st lp prior to this one 'Rams On The Loose' (note those are stock photos not my copies here, if you want photos or soundclips I can sort something out) which is also in great nick and plays as it should! I'm looking for around £300 ono for both albums, 'Flying' goes for more than that alone https://collectorsfrenzy.com/Details.aspx?id=110623576835 Any questions or interest, just drop me a PM or mail soulcitizen@yahoo.co.uk These are the only 2 albums Frankie Zhivago ever released. cheers Sutty

advances in technology, much like it has changed the sound of music all along cheers Sutty

It's about as right as this, which appears to involve not just a vastly inflated price, but time travel as well, seeing as it was recorded and released in 2002! Sven Zetterberg - Heartaches was alll you got £70 Rare original of the 70's crossover biggie

I just misread that as "It's a 72 track LP that was pressed on a 45" and was like lol

Hi Russ, glad you are well, take care buddy Good day to you to Mal, long time no see! And to Eddie (hi to you too m8 and also long time no see) who started the thread and asked for an MP3, I assume you don't own an original 45 and thought you might like to know you can pick up a legitimate re-release for peanuts and listen to the record at your leisure. It's well mastered, nice loud cut, and not a bootleg, but that was never the attempt. Anyone attempting to pass off a one-sided 12" of a track as an original 7" would have to think the buyer was pretty gullible really, but then again, some of the sights i've seen at all-nighters in the past, I reckon it might just get past one or two people out there if you hit them at the right time of night... cheers Sutty

Unless you actually live in a venue, pretty pointlesss buying it then anyway! lol Sounds fine round my house, I might play it in a minute
-
U know this was reissued on 1 one-sided 12", officially I believe, a couple of years back, should you want to entertain yourself with it at home and still have change for a new car https://www.discogs.com/Mixed-Feelings-Sha-La-La/release/1591229 cheers Sutty

Bizarre that the replies point the guy towards no soul music recorded in the last 10-15 years apart from the house variety, but the very era he doesn't want lol as he states 1975 is not actually modern as such so try https://www.firstexperiencerecords.com/ https://www.crazybeat.co.uk/ listen to Solar/Starpoint/Stomp radio shows on the net, make your wants lists and contact the dealers that sell this stuff, along with searching Discogs/eBay, etc 'modern soul' is such a broad church (and many will argue that 1975 is still modern) and there are thousands and thousands of great releases, you really have to search out what you like cheers Sutty
