  1. I would have thought the thing that riles people is not a dj leaving early, but the quite selfish habit of turning up for their own slot then leaving straight afterwards. Not sure where the 'money' part comes into it though lol
  2. Personally, I find the prospect of attending a mini-nighter very disturbing, particularly after seeing some facebook pics of a recent event in Brighton.
  3. Don't knock it Russ, you're missing a trick with your night, that'd deffo be a 'mini-nighter' or even just a 'nighter' round our way as it finishes after 2am. Anything starting before 6pm is also a 'dayer', even if it finishes at 9pm. I agree though, it's bs cheers Sutty
  4. its the lemon with green i'm referring to, its deffo a modern pressing - i suspect there is no lemon with black pront and its the light of the scan that doesn't show up the green text.
  5. four voices - there's a pale yellow reissue/boot with green print, same design, I just sold one for a tenner which is about what it's worth IMO cheers Sutty
  6. Except the original format of an mp3 is a computer file, so why the need to burn onto cd? Thats the same as cutting a vinyl carver from a cd. Either you believe in original format only, or you don't surely? It's what's in the 1's and 0's that counts nowadays ;)
  7. yup, ive got one here fella https://www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Kenny-Carter-Johnny-Nash-Whats-That-On-Your-Finger-Im-Leaving/37536163?ev=bp_titl cheers Sutty
  8. I really like that demo precisely because it does have some jazz syncopation, nice horns, plenty of space, clear full vocal - whereas the released version sounds more like a messy rock record IMHO. When's the demo coming out Dave?
  9. Thats true Pete, he came on and sang it at breakneck speed in about a minute or so, made some comment about it wasn't him that recorded it, and payed a blinding set of his own material. One of the best Cleggy soul acts. Cheers Sutty
  10. Fantastic, 'why are you asking such a stupid price for this you bloody Soul Puff!' ;)
  11. Just as amusing are the sellers trying to get £50 or whatever for a modern 12" because someone played it out last week and 'lifted the roof off' (aka someone went bananas on the dance floor for 5 minutes lol) when there are multiple copies on discogs starting at some crazy price like £1.99 - seen this many many times, Have these people not heard of google? Cheers Sutty
  12. It's on a 7 on Kent select which is a lot easier to get than the promo lp https://www.45cat.com/label/kent-select Cheers Sutty
  13. Ridiculously over- priced. Pretty much more of the same and prob nearer £30-50 tops, had one a few years back and took ages to sell. Cheers Sutty
  14. Ok, yes I have recipe for peace on 45, it's not unreleased on 45 til now though which also confused me, it was pressed years ago. Thought it might be a new track, Cheers Sutty
  15. Is Bobby Patterson a new found recording or is it 'recipe for peace', which I've had for years on 45? If it's 'recipe of love' what's it like, sound clip? Cheers Sutty
  16. I've had 2 copies and neither had that problem, just checked my current one, plays all good, no indents cheers Sutty
  17. Nick the record (djfriendly) has a copy for sale on here in sales or on his website https://www.djfriendly.co.uk/ cheers Sutty
  18. Dave, Fisher Price portables are the finest - rewire the dc power socket on the side as headphones (same socket size) and they sound better than a soundburger - really, i've had both. Never had any issues with any record ever played on it and the batteries last forever. But really, get on my level and get the accessory as well! ))))))) Sutty
  19. Guy i know was riding home from his work and got knocked off his pushbike by a car at a junction. The older couple got out and checked he was ok, said "we only live up the road, come in and clean yourself up and make sure you're alright". While the wife made him a cup of tea and washed the dirt off his jacket, he was chatting to the husband, talking about how he was into records, and the guy went "oh, i've got some records from years ago if you want to have a look". He ended up doing a deal and going back and buying the lot. Sold 3 of the records for £1,500 the next week and paid his rent for the next year on the rest, and still kept a load for himself. It does happen, just not to ME! lol cheers Sutty
  20. As far as a unique impassioned performance it's hard to beat this IMO cheers Sutty
  21. I didn't think I liked any of Ian's productions (nothing personal, just didn't do anything for me) until I heard and bought this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkuT117FQDE
  22. I just had some UK clown not posting for 3 weeks and when I chased him up politely, he said he was waiting for his new stock of mailers. Then he changed the status to shipped 7 days ago. It arrived today... in a reused old mailer, dated last Thursday, he posted 4 days after his shipping notice. It was posted 2nd class from his workplace in Manchester so it cost him nothing in P&P after he charged me 1st class signed for shipping. I've got some other clown from the states who charged me $14 shipping and it cost $3.44 on the package, the record is described as VG+ and it sounds like a pan of bacon is being fried in the background and is covered in marks. and they make out like you're a bad customer when you complain! cheers Sutty
  23. If you're looking for new vocals over old riddims you're a lot better off buying some of the great Peckings 45's by Bitty McLean, Lady Lex, Peter Hunningale, Courtney John et all. They are at least rocksteady singers and some of their 45's are miles better than Stephanie McKay in production, ideas, talent and inspiration. SM isn't a bad record, it's just vastly inferior to others out there IMO. cheers Sutty
  24. To be honest, that makes it clear you're getting into something you don't know enough about. Without Boundaries was Fish's event and the music policy was nothing like what you're asking for, they played upfront new releases, 90s, Y2K soul and house music, philly, etc, with a small amount of 'crossover' when they had a 2nd room, and I don't think i've ever heard a northern tune played there; and it finished quite a few years ago. Completely different scene to the one you're trying to appeal to. You need to go out and attend a few events and decide what you want to do, or instead of just booking random DJ's you've never heard, look for a co-promoter who does know the DJ's you're looking for and do it together IMO. Good luck but you sound like you might come a cropper if you're not careful, cheers
