  1. Best thread ever
  2. reading an entire thread is so last year
  3. make a change if someone actually played the Smokey version if you ask me!
  4. you all not thinking about Smokey's version on 45? i've seen that on a European 45 or e.p., forget which
  5. Did it though? It was on a 80s or 90s stateside comp, but never seen or heard of a UK stateside 45? Just UA 45, not on any Isleys album. It was a flop so they started their own label after this 45 and UA one album, unless anyone knows any different of course! Cheers Sutty
  6. Yup, Gloria Gaynor 'we just can't make it' is a fabulous 70's dancer. I don't know where the 'other thread' is on this, but darrell banks 'open the door to your heart' c/w 'our love is in the pocket' sold a million didn't it? Cheers Sutty
  7. I would have thought the thing that riles people is not a dj leaving early, but the quite selfish habit of turning up for their own slot then leaving straight afterwards. Not sure where the 'money' part comes into it though lol
  8. Personally, I find the prospect of attending a mini-nighter very disturbing, particularly after seeing some facebook pics of a recent event in Brighton.
  9. Don't knock it Russ, you're missing a trick with your night, that'd deffo be a 'mini-nighter' or even just a 'nighter' round our way as it finishes after 2am. Anything starting before 6pm is also a 'dayer', even if it finishes at 9pm. I agree though, it's bs cheers Sutty
  10. its the lemon with green i'm referring to, its deffo a modern pressing - i suspect there is no lemon with black pront and its the light of the scan that doesn't show up the green text.
  11. four voices - there's a pale yellow reissue/boot with green print, same design, I just sold one for a tenner which is about what it's worth IMO cheers Sutty
  12. Except the original format of an mp3 is a computer file, so why the need to burn onto cd? Thats the same as cutting a vinyl carver from a cd. Either you believe in original format only, or you don't surely? It's what's in the 1's and 0's that counts nowadays ;)
  13. yup, ive got one here fella https://www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Kenny-Carter-Johnny-Nash-Whats-That-On-Your-Finger-Im-Leaving/37536163?ev=bp_titl cheers Sutty
  14. I really like that demo precisely because it does have some jazz syncopation, nice horns, plenty of space, clear full vocal - whereas the released version sounds more like a messy rock record IMHO. When's the demo coming out Dave?
  15. Thats true Pete, he came on and sang it at breakneck speed in about a minute or so, made some comment about it wasn't him that recorded it, and payed a blinding set of his own material. One of the best Cleggy soul acts. Cheers Sutty
  16. Fantastic, 'why are you asking such a stupid price for this you bloody Soul Puff!' ;)
  17. Just as amusing are the sellers trying to get £50 or whatever for a modern 12" because someone played it out last week and 'lifted the roof off' (aka someone went bananas on the dance floor for 5 minutes lol) when there are multiple copies on discogs starting at some crazy price like £1.99 - seen this many many times, Have these people not heard of google? Cheers Sutty
  18. It's on a 7 on Kent select which is a lot easier to get than the promo lp https://www.45cat.com/label/kent-select Cheers Sutty
  19. Ridiculously over- priced. Pretty much more of the same and prob nearer £30-50 tops, had one a few years back and took ages to sell. Cheers Sutty
  20. Ok, yes I have recipe for peace on 45, it's not unreleased on 45 til now though which also confused me, it was pressed years ago. Thought it might be a new track, Cheers Sutty
  21. Is Bobby Patterson a new found recording or is it 'recipe for peace', which I've had for years on 45? If it's 'recipe of love' what's it like, sound clip? Cheers Sutty
  22. I've had 2 copies and neither had that problem, just checked my current one, plays all good, no indents cheers Sutty
  23. Nick the record (djfriendly) has a copy for sale on here in sales or on his website https://www.djfriendly.co.uk/ cheers Sutty
  24. Dave, Fisher Price portables are the finest - rewire the dc power socket on the side as headphones (same socket size) and they sound better than a soundburger - really, i've had both. Never had any issues with any record ever played on it and the batteries last forever. But really, get on my level and get the accessory as well! ))))))) Sutty
  25. Guy i know was riding home from his work and got knocked off his pushbike by a car at a junction. The older couple got out and checked he was ok, said "we only live up the road, come in and clean yourself up and make sure you're alright". While the wife made him a cup of tea and washed the dirt off his jacket, he was chatting to the husband, talking about how he was into records, and the guy went "oh, i've got some records from years ago if you want to have a look". He ended up doing a deal and going back and buying the lot. Sold 3 of the records for £1,500 the next week and paid his rent for the next year on the rest, and still kept a load for himself. It does happen, just not to ME! lol cheers Sutty
