  1. you're right, I was getting confused with the Modulations 'Rough out here' on south american, the JL e.p. is entitled 'Rashida', its promo only for the album. There is no '45' though apart from a recent 'reissue/boot'. cheers Sutty
  2. Jon Lucien doesn't exist as a USA 45, its on a promotional 4-track e.p. from Brasil I think it was, I have it but can't find it at the mo to confirm cheers Sutty
  3. it originally came with a free pair of ear plugs
  4. in any case, you already lost the battle for private press lp's against the undefeatable Marcofunk, he will be willing to drop more $$$$ than any challenger for elusive vinyl and make you cry like a baby. He is the Tony Montana of the private press scene and he takes NO prisoners. https://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=marcofunk&ftab=AllFeedback&rt=nc&myworld=true
  5. the curator is familiar with every genre and release of music ever released is he? and he knows it won't ever be, despite more and more of it being online every hour? he has some facts to back this up? what does it matter if record companies destroy master tapes, how is that relevant to already released records? How are u going to acquire all the recorded music in the world (impossible task) by accumulating vinyl when most releases in the last 10 years or so are not even on vinyl? nice idea, but slightly mental to expect to come on a soul forum and get a ton of Detroit 45's out of it lol
  6. Yes, the condition freaks are slightly mental sometimes. Had a guy who I sold a totally unplayed album to who claimed it was only VG+. Another who insisted my gradings (on discogs) were wrong (as in M- and VG+) and he regraded a bunch of records he bought as 'this one is VG+++, this one is only VG-- as the label is slightly faded, this one is EX++" blah blah. One who was totally out to lunch from Germany who decided that the entire Discogs setup was ripping him off, told me a Mint LP was 'flea market trash' and he was putting in 16 paypal reclaims. After contacting a few other sellers he was chucked off, but he mailed me numerous lengthy messages calling me a nazi and telling me he was taking me to the european court of justice for fraud. Chritian Beiden from Cologne. I should have known when he said "This NEAR MINT condition was the ONLY reason for me to buy this item since I have it in so many other formats that I'm not interested in the music from this record.". But as Ian says, out of over 300 transactions on discogs, i've had 1% bad experiences, the rest are great cheers Sutty
  7. There is already a world-wide archive of recorded music, it's called 'the internet'
  8. Someone get them in the studio!
  9. Fair enough. he's still around. i'm saying nothing
  10. you have actually heard russ dewbury...
  11. https://www.discogs.com/artist/Dee+Heron cheers Sutty
  12. You know what - you did ;)
  13. Yes, was with my mate Derek and we planned a south coast record shopping day, first stop we wandered into a junk shop and there was a box of 7's in the corner, that was the first record in there. Bought a load of stuff and the guy priced them up on how popular he thought they were, as in 'that was a big hit I want 1.50 for that one... That was a flop, so 50p. These American ones are all 50p each nobody buys them...'. Went straight down the pub and sat in the sun for the rest of the day ;) When I told you, you said 'I go in there every week and never found anything' !
  14. I had an issue at one time that I moved on, the b-side is nothing special at all so I wouldn't lose any sleep over trying to find one
  15. I remember that mr T 'love uprising' being played Russ although I seem to remember it was Ben that played it
  16. ^^^ f**k me it's 'the snake' lol RADICAL )))))))))))
  17. exactly, and it died a death as it's a minority sport in the extreme, most of those nights were full of students not 'hardcore funk fans' (as they generally didn't exist). Whatever dreams anyone has thats into it has of this taking off again in any way above a small circle of people is on another planet. If you like it, play it to each other and the few that will like it and enjoy it. Popularity isn't everything, in fact it's really nothing. Just don't expect to get too many converts, frankly it does often sound very samey after a while. cheers Sutty
  18. Half the records on this thread were unwanted funk 45s not long ago, please don't tell me anyone collecting this stuff is paying out daft money for this stuff! Sons of darkness being a prime £5 record example. There's a reason it was in every funk sales box for a fiver, it's shite lol
  19. It's been up there for ages, probably bought by someone so they can flog it for 50 ;)
  20. Someone bought it then, no need to say thanks, thats ok LOL
  21. Let me google that for you ;) https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=1834756&ev=rb Cheers Sutty
  22. Did you check if they're OVO in case there was any requirement to decapitate the landlord for using boots/reissues?
  23. ^^^ laughably nonsensical comment lol
  24. Probably bad form saying this but I think the seller is confusing this later 12" press with the original 7". The 12" is available now on a quick google search for a 5th of the asking price. nice record though!
  25. ok, I get you so your anwer really is it is many different scenes around the UK and abroad. If you take all the facets and scenes into account it is big, I get invites on fb to events that pull say hundreds of people regularly but the DJ's and dancers have nothing in common with any modern event discussed on here, apart from some of the music cheers Sutty
