  1. £200 is about right Pete, but you might get more even now, cheers Sutty
  2. Looking for a copy of this 45 if anyone can help, demo or issue and as long as it's playable and sounds ok I don't mind what it looks like thanks Sutty
  3. What criteria is involved in a record sounding like its rare or worth a few grand? what's the giveaway?
  4. LTJ-EXPERIENCE extended version 12" from 2003 on Irma is pretty top notch too Cheers Sutty
  5. Are you lot on something? There's no way that the Elektra version is better than the Cadet version! Lol
  6. You want this one https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=385317&ev=rb cheers Sutty
  7. You stop listening when you start to believe you're a DJ instead of someone who plays music out as a hobby, and it becomes more important to be DJing than listening. Something I realised a long time ago thankfully
  8. I saw her a few years back, she was rough as old boots for the 1st 30 minutes, struggling to find her voice, then started to sing like an angel again for the rest of the show, which was fantastic, cheers Sutty
  9. so reading back there's 3 at least chanson - no backing connowil - rawer version with backing 'fresh start' lp - assume its the same as connowil 45 from the soundclip on youtube then after these timeless lp - smoother version with backing ? cheers Sutty
  10. I have the timeless lp and the connowil 45, they are completely different recordings. Not heard the chanson version unless its one of these, but both versions I have have backing singers on, but not the same ones! the album is smoother and sounds like a later production, they're both on youtube to compare. much prefer the 45 version personally The 'fresh start' lp is £££ i believe, assume thats probably the connowil take, but guessing cheers Sutty
  11. Cue all the Jolynn Murray white labels disappearing off the internet and loads of people going 'why have I bought an instrumental record with sax all over it and no vocals, where's Jolynn Murray' - that's what happened at the time. Derek Jack could spot the 'right' copy from about 20 feet lol
  12. I think you're more likely to find a copy of the Italian 12 in Barnsley than Italy or Japan (seriously). For me it was a record of its time, its a nice record but I've always thought some of the UK white labels I caned at the time were much better, like Wookie ' runaway' and Jolynn Murray 'wrapped up' but they just didn't generally take off in the same way for some reason, but they were still as popular when played out on a night. Credit for finding black box must always go to Mark Randell from Southampton, I just played it on the scene which he wasn't part of as far as DJing I'm afraid the Jap 12 is a 2nd press Cheers Sutty
  13. nice use of the wasabee b-side cover of 'on a clear day' in the last series of Breaking Bad. never understood the fascination with the mario bondi later version of 'this is what you are', its totally lame compared to wasabee IMHO. but then again, I fail to see the fascination with mario bondi full stop lol cheers Sutty
  14. wow, the northern section fails on so many counts. Roll out the same old talking heads to discuss a northern youth scene when they're southern based, a few new ones who have read about it but know little else, such as the daft comment about it didn't hit the mainstream because they played the b-sides (lol), half of them are too young to have ever been a part of it anyway, Why not easily find people that were there apart from RW rather than a load of revisionists. Perhaps Sir Norman should have turned the page when reading Russ's playlists and read what Dave Godin had to say. One frame it was about dressing up, then soon after the south was about dressing up which is what made it different from the north, make your minds up! Sack the researcher. cheers Sutty
  15. Isn't this the recent tramp release though with a different label to the issue, not the original release?
  16. This is a remake of sparkle as in written by Curtis and sung by Aretha on the soundtrack? Nice soundtrack, not a great film. For a modern blaxploitation, try Black Dynamite... Now THAT's entertainment rofl
  17. is it modern rofl
  18. sounds like something off a 60's film soundtrack with zero soul connection at all lol
  19. you're right, I was getting confused with the Modulations 'Rough out here' on south american, the JL e.p. is entitled 'Rashida', its promo only for the album. There is no '45' though apart from a recent 'reissue/boot'. cheers Sutty
  20. Jon Lucien doesn't exist as a USA 45, its on a promotional 4-track e.p. from Brasil I think it was, I have it but can't find it at the mo to confirm cheers Sutty
  21. it originally came with a free pair of ear plugs
  22. in any case, you already lost the battle for private press lp's against the undefeatable Marcofunk, he will be willing to drop more $$$$ than any challenger for elusive vinyl and make you cry like a baby. He is the Tony Montana of the private press scene and he takes NO prisoners. https://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=marcofunk&ftab=AllFeedback&rt=nc&myworld=true
  23. the curator is familiar with every genre and release of music ever released is he? and he knows it won't ever be, despite more and more of it being online every hour? he has some facts to back this up? what does it matter if record companies destroy master tapes, how is that relevant to already released records? How are u going to acquire all the recorded music in the world (impossible task) by accumulating vinyl when most releases in the last 10 years or so are not even on vinyl? nice idea, but slightly mental to expect to come on a soul forum and get a ton of Detroit 45's out of it lol
  24. Yes, the condition freaks are slightly mental sometimes. Had a guy who I sold a totally unplayed album to who claimed it was only VG+. Another who insisted my gradings (on discogs) were wrong (as in M- and VG+) and he regraded a bunch of records he bought as 'this one is VG+++, this one is only VG-- as the label is slightly faded, this one is EX++" blah blah. One who was totally out to lunch from Germany who decided that the entire Discogs setup was ripping him off, told me a Mint LP was 'flea market trash' and he was putting in 16 paypal reclaims. After contacting a few other sellers he was chucked off, but he mailed me numerous lengthy messages calling me a nazi and telling me he was taking me to the european court of justice for fraud. Chritian Beiden from Cologne. I should have known when he said "This NEAR MINT condition was the ONLY reason for me to buy this item since I have it in so many other formats that I'm not interested in the music from this record.". But as Ian says, out of over 300 transactions on discogs, i've had 1% bad experiences, the rest are great cheers Sutty
