  1. It is Steve Mancha on rare stamps, exactly the same recording.
  2. I've never really understood why the soul scene picks up on these pop-house excursions and bypasses something with some vocal and production balls and inspiration, such as Joi Cardwell 'Trouble' or Mama's Children 'Let Us All Be Friends'. At least if you're going to venture outside the norm on a soul night, have some conviction, anyone idiot can play some poppy dance record, you don't need to book a specialist DJ for that. Don't be a sheep, lead the way and DO something! IMHO cheers Sutty
  3. Going from £2.70 to £3 minimum I read, but the weight restriction is going up so it may be cheaper to send multiple records at once in the UK after the new price designed to make more revenue, sorry, I meant to say 'new improved service'
  4. The fact that half of the sales pitches are illiterate just adds to the kudos!
  5. I'm with Ian, he sent me mine and it was on the doorstep waiting for me this morning. Outstandingly nice packaging, not to mention the music! essential purchase for anyone into timeless quality 70's soul, and it's heavy cheers Sutty
  6. Woman irate because she's told Benny Goodman and Bob Hope records are not worth anything. Is that news ? I'd tell her exactly the same, it's not exactly a great market for vinyl crust is it
  7. Lou Courtney is even more mental, it's not even anywhere near the best track on the album and it's just not rare at all
  8. So they've changed the name from small packet to small parcel and put the prices up. £3 to post an LP up from £2.70 inland, which didnt go up that long ago. They haven't simplified anything, they've just put the prices up, do they think we're all stupid!
  9. its been reissued on 45 on 'soul mafia' records. I would post up a link to where you can get online but some smart *rse will probably come on saying 'i think we all know how to find reissues', so I won't bother being any more helpful
  10. The bbe 12 was released, there's 3 copies on discogs now Cheers Sutty
  11. If you buy Gloria Scott on French casablance demo it's got 'that's what you say' on the b-side cheers Sutty
  12. came out in the USA as a promo, never released anywhere else on 7
  13. wettest cover version ever, do I win a prize?
  14. html not your strong point then lol
  15. Surely music genres are more subjective and the guarantee is about - its the record advertised, its in the condition advertised, you've got the record advertised delivered in that condition to your door. That guy Marcofunk used to try and back records cos ' this isn't funky enough'. That's utter b-s complaining about the musical content, that's the buyers decision when they buy it that they like it musically, not the seller however they describe the record. Lets face it, if you're going to buy a record blind you take the chance and you've chosen to take the chance, Cheers Sutty
  16. something about Limmie & The Family cooking in a burger van outside a fashion show in 1975
  17. they're easily identifiable Ian, the ketchup container doesn't have a barcode
  18. Not in those trousers son
  19. You're prob right Boba, but anyway, bigger discussions are afoot! I see 'northern soul clothes' are about to go mainstream, so never mind that the mag has lost the plot, be prepared for the onslaught of fancy dress on a high street near you LOL https://www.youtube.com/embed/Nb4nQShIMxU GROAN!
  20. I'm not sure what the point of this thread is full stop. Firstly, the UK did not 'invent the gene of soul', its well documented that the term was used in gospel way back, and that Ray Charles is credited with first using the term to describe the mix of gospel and rythym and blues. Your point on the track I posted not being soul music made in the last year is because the cd has the word 'blues' in the title, not 'soul'. This is irrelevant, it's what it sounds like that makes it soul. There are many examples of blues artists recording soul tracks. As another example on 'is soul music dead', listen to Anthony Hamilton 'Change the world', which is another fine example of soul music. Soul music never stopped being made, to the mainstream listener it went UNDERGROUND to some extent. It's not dead because it's not in the charts or being played on mainstream radio. Oh, hang on, didn't just about every song discussed on this forum suffer the same fate. Anyway, I do respect your opinions boba, I just think you have missed the point on this one cheers Sutty
  21. Last time I recall listening to music, SOUL music was a sound, not what someone decided to print on a page. By those standards, MIck Hucknall is a soul artist LOL Did you actually listen to it?
