  2. Morning folks.. I'm looking to identify this track ..Played at last Keele couple months back.. Atb Shaun
  3. This just popped up on Facebook..
  4. Hey Janie... It's a long time ago.. I only remember as I was living in Wolverhampton & there was quite a crowd of us.. Maybe you did win 75??.. I too...along with my sister ..Angie Lawrence & her brother Steve were approached to dance on Totp.. Like you we all refused...the rest as they say is history...
  5. As stated earlier the first anniversary dance comp was won by Caeser. Kim from Wolvo was second Gethro Wolvo was third My sister Sharon Dyke Gloucester was fourth.. I used to go.out with Angie Lawrence from Rugeley.. She never won dance comp at Wigan .. Didn't enter..though she did win same sort of time at Whitchurch alldayer She also won first comp at Ritz Manchester ..The prize was 100 lps.. I still have a couple I borrowed ...!!
  6. I realised I should have said Walter Swoz not Eddie his brother!! I think the story of people trying to pull down the sign is false.. Though I will check with Walter.. Herbie 0908..there were a bunch who caught the coach from Halesowen.. One lad I remember was called Stewart..in fact they got to Wigan for the opening night .I remember as he used the membership I had sent off for & his mate used my sisters!!
  7. Haha..I have done in the past.. I reminded him of the time he came on the coach & introduced himself & Kim.. I still speak regularly to Swoz.. I'll ask about the outside signage.. I cant remember I do remember us ransacking the place on the last night..getting loads of blank memberships..the Cats stamp..that ended up at Blue Max shop...signing in book & other tutt..
  8. Dont know if this is of interest.. I ran coach to Wigan via the Cats from the second week it opened until the end of February 74.. I came from Gloucester at the time & we also picked up from Cheltenham.. There was a large crowd that had been going to the Catacombs especially after The Torch & the Junction in Crewe had closed. I was a young 15 year old at the time & it seemed the easiest way to get there!! Seems so young these days but remember back then you left school at 15/16 The coach cost a princely £40..from a company called Edwards.. I was charging £2..so was easy to break even or even make some cash.. Would leave The Catacombs at midnight.. The Wolvo crowd would pile on & even more on the return .There were 3 on each seat & people standing!! One morning we came out & the coach had been nicked!! The police recovered the vehicle but not before someone had taken a dump on the backseat...made for a fragrent return journey.. One night on way to the Casino & leaving Knutsford Services D.S.pulled coach over & everyone was taken off & searched.People had gotten wise by then & all gear had been necked.prior to the services.. I know Colin James ( Jamo) from Wolvo then ran the coach to Wigan Steve Smith certainly ran the coach from Gloucester for a while.. After the Cats had closed..we used to meet in The Vine & Gethro had started running the coach..
  9. Bud..sent pm day ago!!
  10. Two different people E. Rodney Jones was a DJ on WVON in Chicago, which was owned by the Chess Brothers. as for Bobby Treetop no idea.. both played at the Cats .. Copied over from website 45cat.. Good question. The late Bob Abrahamian once suggested in an old Soul Source discussion that Bobby Treetop might possibly be Bobby Copney....who of course also recorded for Tuff, and about whom, I believe, nothing is known. If you listen to all the relevant sides other than "Wait Till I Get To Know Ya" [which, as I recall, is sung in a falsetto], you may well agree that it's a possibility. And yeah, "R&B Time" is the instrumental track used on "Wait Till I Get To Know Ya". It appears on the b-side of Tuff 418 [not currently listed on site], credited to E. Rodney Jones, a powerful Chicago DJ. Which actually points to the confusion over this release. There's a bootleg of "Wait Till I Get To Know Ya" [not an alt. issue], with "R&B Time" [taken from Tuff 418] on the flip. 417 is shown as the cat. number on that pressing.
