  1. Hellebores in my old garden...
  2. My last for tonight, a bit of popcorn...
  3. Pure class, and a permanent fixture in my play box...
  4. Another nice flip
  5. Yessir, I did say so, just not very loudly
  6. One that gets me going....
  7. Bright Lights Flip
  8. Another that I'll be taking to Hitsville in September
  9. I do drink, and thankfully don't often have an hangover, never bothered to flip My Little Cottage, but it's not that awful
  10. Not so far away from Florida for a moth, anywhere where you have Frangipani growing well you'll find them, they might even be some in southern Spain as eggs could quite easily have been on imported trees.
  11. Florida, though they have them in Hawaii too, but in two years of living there I never saw any, I probably wasn't looking. They are impressive, as are most of the Hawk Moth caterpillars, 3-4" long and chubby too, the chrysalis is like two-tone, black and red, spectacular.
  12. The caterpillar is prettier than the moth, I've seen the caterpillar a lot, but never seen the moth.
  13. I have this one too, another oddball sound, Joe Jama probably on vocals...
  14. It's the Frangipani Hornworm moth, it feeds on Plumeria trees.
  15. I've had this for a few years too...
  16. An old photo, but they are in flower at the moment, one of the many thorn bearing trees that have spuriously been associated with the crown of thorns, Erythrina crista-galli
  17. I've had this for a few years too...
  18. A popcorn favourite on my beloved Doré label
  19. Thanks to Kev Moore for this and a magical time at a very cold Prestatyn.
  20. Beauty and simplicity combined....
  21. I bought mine only last year, an American from on here, if the going rate has doubled in a year then I'm a clever chappie, I should be heading a bank and getting banker's bonuses.
  22. This a collected wild plum, it needs a lot of work to turn it into a prizewinning bonsai, sadly not mine, it resides in Japan.
  23. Get yourself some copper nails Kev and drive several into the trees that are blocking your view, they'll die after a few years, and no-one will know why.
  24. At one time I could have probably told you what it's called in Japan too, but my mind is full of other guff and I forget these things that never crop up in civilised conversation. I probably know more about trees that anything, having started growing bonsai at the age of 12. Having thought about it the Japanese for cherry blossom is sakura, and plum is mume, I know that Prunus cerasifera doesn't grow there, so they probably have no name for it, so I shall call it sakura mume.
