Thanks to everyone who attended the Morecambe reunion, and for making it such a magical night, filled to capacity and packed dance floors in both rooms all night with an atmosphere you could cut with knife. I'm hoping so - you can never tell what dangers are lurking at those altitudes
  4. It all kicks off at 7pm tonight, with Richard Searling at the decks , it's gonna be a very special night, all this for just 10 pounds cash on the door, see you all there, Shaun and all the team at Soul Promotions

Ask nicely and you might convince Gis to drop the needle on this
  6. A rightful claim to fame from the Pier - Shaun Gibbons was the first to grace the decks with what became an absolute monster for years to follow and still packs the floors, c/u as George Blackwell
  7. For those of you within travelling distance of Morecambe for a soul-night, Mr Soul Promotions himself (Shaun Gibbons) is DJing tonight at the MVP's no doubt warming up for the main anniversary event on the 15th! I've had the pleasure of being a guest there myself, superb event, nice folk and great cross section of music - well worth a visit IMO
  8. Some memorabilia to share from Soul Promotions - Anniversary patches from 1983 right through to 1989.
  9. Brian Rae should have been in this photo with the rest of the Morecambe resident DJs, but as usual he was playing the bandit and the space invader games!!
  10. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the 40th anniversary oldies reunion, at the Alhambra Morecambe on Sat 15th April 7pm till 3am, join us and find out why the reader's of Blues & Soul voted us the best club of 1984! See you there Shaun Gibbons - Soul Promotions

Spent many an hour talking complete nonsense with each other - they were happy times he will be sadly missed 😔

Baz Maleedys review re-posted here from Baz his comments in the thread - I couldn't have summed it up any better anyway! Great night, love the new venue - good to see my old pal Dave Shannon and all the other regular Culcheth faces.....it's an honour to be a part of the DJ team and I enjoyed every minute. See you all in May for the special event in memory of Karl Rhodes. not to be missed I'm sure it will be a night to remember. From Baz: Well, it was always a risk moving venues, but it’s one that seemed to have worked well. I loved the old venue because it reminded me so much of Lowton Civic, but it became impossible to work with the new management, so a move was the only option. It would seem that it’s done us all a big favour and we have a superb new venue, where we can continue to enjoy the music and friendships we’ve had for years. And that was what was sooo special about last night seeing so many had made the effort to come to the new venue and gave it a resounding thumbs up! The Northern room was very busy from the 'off' and it looked and sounded great, the Modern room looked and sounded great, although we may need to take the bigger room next month as it was packed! The music in both rooms was superb, so big thanks to the main room DJ’s, Kevin Murphy , Mick Howard , Robbo, Simon and Special Guest on the night Dave Shannon who’s love of the music is infectious. And the Modern room DJ’s Pete Ratcliffe , Tony Shawcross and Charlie Smith. I sincerely hope everyone enjoyed it, judging by the comments at the end of the night it sounded like they did. Hope to see everyone on May 6th for a night that’s going to be a little bit ‘Special'
  12. Maybe even a bit of this - dark horse that he is
  13. A recent find I happened upon coz I have their other 45 on the label (Love Shop) so I gave it a listen - both sides of course
  14. Diggin' around in the playbox - I don't really plan a set really (probably explains a lot LOL) I just have a few in mind and see how it goes like this one:
  15. Be great to see you Martin I'm sure one of the guys will help you out
  16. Eddiefoster commented on Guyh's comment on an event in Allnighters

A particular favourite of mine - I know this one was a c/u for Guy as Harold Melvin (perfect)

Sadly I never made it to Stafford at the time but I tend to gravitate to sounds I later learn featured there!! I believe this was one of them
  18. A note from Shaun Gibbons following the sad loss of Chris King: I was shocked to hear the news that Chris King had sadly passed away. Chris and I were not close friends but I always respected him as a fellow promoter. Chris always put his money where his mouth was and brought over some fantastic artists like the Ric Tic review at Hinckley, which was fantastic. My thoughts and prayers at this time are with his family and friends. RIP Chris from Shaun Gibbons and all the team at Soul Promotions
