  1. FLAC is perfect digital format for backing up muaic no.loss of quality and reasonable file size. MP3 at ,320kbs 44.1khz is great as portable source.
  2. Yes- a key contributor along with the wider family.
  3. Not really many download sources, certainly not in wave format. Buy CDs with the tracks on and rip to WAV format. Mediamonkey is good for that.
  4. Ordered mine via the site too now. As was said, looking forward to it.
  5. I asked Richard on Twitter, the link will go up within the site by Friday, possibly before.
  6. There were a few funk based nights and clubs in and around London in early 1970s mentioned in books on dance music. These were I think the inspiration that Chris, Froggy etc took to Goldmine. By all accounts that was a black music scene of great dedication but almost no attention at all. There definitely was crossover musically by mid-1970s onwards in some places. I've read Chris Hill extended interviews where we talked about the Northern Soul scene and how they ran in parallel and was occasional overlap/conflict.
  7. Finally got around to listening to this in one sitting. What a cracking, varied selection with some newly unearthed songs of the highest quality.
  8. RIP and thank you.
  9. Dave, I do the same. CD is my CD master ripped to FLAC twice and then put into my Google Play Music Cloud and on a Pioneer music player with 2 x 200GB cards inside. I use Chromecast around the house and can play to loads of devices quickly. It works really well and as you say, introduces that element of surprise.
  10. Also Ralph Tee Radio Show on Mixcloud and Colin Curtis Soul of House Podcasts are both great.
  11. Although you may know all the songs Richard Searling shows on BBC Stoke and Manchester (mostly same songs) are jolly and available on BBC iPlayer after. keV Roberts show is similar fun too. I can't recall hich internet station it is on.
  12. Eddy Edmondon on Solar Radio 8-10 Sunday night is essential.
  13. Track listing now available at: https://acerecords.co.uk/on-the-soul-side
  14. It's a great book. I ended up reading it in two sittings.
  15. As was said , I buy anything on Expansion, Ace Family (Kent, BGP, Westbound etc), Soul,Outta Sight, Dome, BBR, Harmless, Reel People/Papa, Acid Jazz and loads more. Anyone relying on streaming services for Soul / Rhythm I& Blues / Jazz / Funk etc is missing out on a huge amount. Ace family on its own has issued many more than 20 wonderful CDs since the one mentioned.
  16. Yesterday I buy constantly, both new releases by current artists and reissues/compilations. I am always looking for soul music I haven't got or recently discovered. CD is my main buying format and I probably spend £150-£200 a month on it (some of which gets sold on, most kept). I also buy some.fownloads for tracks not available on CD or now out of print on CD. I thought yesterday so its current and ongoing with me.
  17. Not yet, it's not at Amazon who usually are quick off the mark - nor at Acerecords.co.uk
  18. Ady must of been listening! Kent is reissuing 'On The Soul Side' on CD with the original cover and twelve extra tracks. I saw it on Amazon rather than their own site as yet. It's made my weekend. Let's hope for many more like this. Of course it's a treasure trove of Minit, Liberty and United Artists classic Northern Soul sides. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BY6J41X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  19. The ones on Music Stack had one with the short tracklisting and on with 19 tracks with them listed. So that was the one. I will check out the other CD of his mentioned.
  20. Thanks. I found the CD on MusicStack and have ordered. For those trying to get 'Big Man Cry' and others on CD it is the expanded version of the 'It's Party Time' CD with 'Revived' added to the title.
  21. Thanks James - I appreciate you taking a look.
  22. Hi, Ernie issued an extended best of that had Big Man Cry and others on it that was a very short run release. It was quickly deleted and I wonder if anyone has one I could buy or as deleted, get a CDr from for personal listening only. I know Big Man Cry was issued on a French CD series called Killer Soul volume 16 that is now itself deleted. Any help in obtaining the CD is appreciated. I have looked extensively and cannot find it. Thanks.
  23. Buy the original Luther LP. perhaps.
  24. Special Lady by Isaiah Sharkey from his new Love.Life.Live album will work very well on the Modern Soul scene. It slows at four minute msrk but is pefect until then in a Donny Hathaway, Leroy Hutson midtempo style.
  25. Stateside records did a few single artist and compilations with Liberty tracks I think.
