Some very pertinent points made, however the fact is when we started out on our long journey, the majority of punters were of a certain age group, who had friends and associates who were also caught up in the "Northern Soul thing" of similar age, I wonder therefore how many of todays younger following have started their journey through their own initiative, i.e. without parental influence???
  3. Age is just a number .........And I gave up counting years ago

I remember having to sell my tickets for The junior at the Casino, as my wages as an apprentice fitter couldn't cover my travel costs that particular week.I was naturally gutted, but my faith in God was fully restored whilst walking around my then home town of Newport when I saw a flyer advertising him appearing at Newport Tiffany's at A Rugby club's do .(the following tuesday )Naturally went, saw, In awe I might add and I've still got the original flyer, plus got my Road Runner album signed by the whole band Don't remember 2 drummers tho , alas the mist of time, and old age, etc. etc.

  15. Picked up a Deon Jackson-Love makes the world go round-Carla @ last Cardiff all-niter for £5, a record I'd always passed up without blinking, I am now a big Deon fan. The record in my humble opinion is one of those that on hearing, can turn a frown into a smile Certainly the best cheapie I think I've ever bought, and one that means a great deal to me

  20. My first All-Niter experience was at the late John Harvey's Inter-City Soul Club, at Yate, in 1975 and it was quite novel to frequent a "local" do on a regular basis over a number of years under various promoters at both the Stirling suite and the Yate baths. The crowd was always top-notch, the majority of D.J's were of similar ilk, and the music was enjoyable (most of it anyway, but everyone to their own eh?) I made some very good friends there over the years, and would relish the chance of attending a maybe one-off reunion Great times spent in great company.

  22. Whilst I never met Dave personally,we spoke regularly with regard to his fanzine, and we would buy/exchange records over a long period of time His humour touched me from our initial correspondence, particularly the additions he made to the artistry of the Postal service with his pictures of various female celebrities Keep 'em laughing buddy
