  5. Have had to sell up on a few occasions through various reasons, and now realise I could have retired early if I'd had kept them all til now Alas if life was so simple First collection went late 70's whilst working for British Steel, and having to strike Sold a better collection late 80's due to finances Then probably my best collection when I got divorced and moved away and needed a new motor due to still travelling back and forth from Cheltenham to Newport for work (which I still do) OK probably a bit of choice there, but blamed the scene I suppose and fell out of love with it for a few months  . I vowed I would never collect vinyl again, but I have learnt to live for today .....and both the Soul scene and vinyl are an addiction ......in their own right

  12. Big shout for Dave Rimmer, he of soulfulkindamusic etc. etc. After requesting Detroit label information in a previous thread some weeks ago, Dave has come up trumps with a very worthwhile Detroit booklet that covers most of the Motor City's label listings in paper format, ideal for a Luddite like myself, so a bit of a plug as gratitude I thought would be pertinent . If Detroit is your bag, Mr. Rimmer is the man to speak to

  17. Some very pertinent points made, however the fact is when we started out on our long journey, the majority of punters were of a certain age group, who had friends and associates who were also caught up in the "Northern Soul thing" of similar age, I wonder therefore how many of todays younger following have started their journey through their own initiative, i.e. without parental influence???

  20. I remember having to sell my tickets for The junior at the Casino, as my wages as an apprentice fitter couldn't cover my travel costs that particular week.I was naturally gutted, but my faith in God was fully restored whilst walking around my then home town of Newport when I saw a flyer advertising him appearing at Newport Tiffany's at A Rugby club's do .(the following tuesday )Naturally went, saw, In awe I might add and I've still got the original flyer, plus got my Road Runner album signed by the whole band Don't remember 2 drummers tho , alas the mist of time, and old age, etc. etc.
