  1. My attendance at all-nighters is heavily influenced by my shiftwork, so is somewhat limited and whilst I've not attended several of the regular venues, not by choice I might add ,the place that really has done it for me every time is the Kestrel Suite at Burnley, for the music, the people and not forgetting the venue itself which are..... top notch

  8. Mike Terry.....sheer class, so anything with his name to it gets my plaudits
  9. You got mail
  10. Edwin Starr was the first live Soul artist I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing, so the memory will be with me until my time is up. It was either 1974 or 5 at Tiffany's Durdham Down (Bristol) and I recall being in awe of a superb "craftsman at work" throughout his performance I attended several of his appearances over the years, and the last time I saw him was at Stoke in the late 90,s and recall the backing tracks going tits up so he started singing accapella.......an amazing voice that never seemed to lose any quality, and equally a much loved character that is sorely missed!
  11. Can anyone tell me what the last Motown record released in Detroit was please?
  12. Me, I love my vinyl, and have been an avid collector from day one.......but I'm b---oxed if I'm gonna tell any of you lot about it, you jealous b-----ds you
  13. As with a lot of "sourcers" Motown was my first real musical love, and many of the tunes are timeless in my opinion, more's the pity that due to the enormous output from Hitsville, that a certain percentage never saw the light of day releasewise but alas I suppose I'm grateful for the chance to hear unreleased stuff albeit somewhat dripfed of late ........
  14. So very very sad R.I.P buddy...
  15. I don't really mind, mainly because I won't be able to hear it anyway
  16. Agree with Sepias valuation of Emanuel Laskey, As I got one for £200 last year, but only paid £40 for the 4th day version so the ebay price is surprising...
  17. Totally agree, love the guys repertoire, surely there must be someone who could persuade him to come across and take the belated but well deserved plaudits....
  18. Pete for my "15 minutes of fame" (so to speak as a perspective "record dealer") I actually found 7 copies of Reparata and the Delrons- Panic on UK Bell (if my memory serves me right) in the back of a toy shop called Hurleys in Pontypridd, back in the 70's amongst other things......looking back I wish I'd bought the toys....
  19. Sad indeed, would have loved to have had an opportunity to witness a Deon Jackson performance, but there seems little chance of that happening by the seem of it
  20. Sentiments echoed, I sincerely hope his strength is as great as his personality which was so evident during the Fabulous Peps performance at NCS. Speedy recovery Steve......
  21. Good on ya mate, and as they say "action speaks louder than words" ......Get well soon...
  22. Must concur, along with H-D-H, and Wylie/Hestor,Pied Piper.....but there again I'm talking personal from a collecting perspective....... for starters .
