  1. There's only one problem selling your prized vinyl, particularly when you feel it's run its course in your collection. A few years down the line you hear it again and it touches the parts etc. and you end up paying a lot more than you sold it for.........as I well know
  2. cheers Dave

I'm looking for the following albums in at least EX condition, Shades of Blue-Impact, Freddie Butler-Kapp. Reflections-Golden World, Metros-RCA, in fact will consider any 60's Detroit albums apart from Motown, that I haven't already got... cheers wilxy

  7. What is the score as to the legitimacy of Detroit sound patterns acetates with regard to "originality", as I have a few such as Eric & the vikings -Hurting, and Pearl Jones-Give me another chance both on 10 inch acetates (both are double sided)albeit the latter has a sticky label stating the artist as Barbara Mercer, and whilst I appreciate the likelihood of some tracks in this format could be laid onto blanks I'm sure there is the knowledge on these boards to enlighten me somewhat

Can anyone enlighten me as to the whereabouts the following Precisions 45's was "conceived", its title is "Into my life" on Atco and is a Mival production written by Mike Valvano. I'd never heard it prior to obtaining a copy from Des Parker and albeit it isn't a "rare" 45 by any means it's not half bad
  9. Any chance of a soundclip of Byron on Sidra Dave? cheers wilxy
  10. My attendance at all-nighters is heavily influenced by my shiftwork, so is somewhat limited and whilst I've not attended several of the regular venues, not by choice I might add ,the place that really has done it for me every time is the Kestrel Suite at Burnley, for the music, the people and not forgetting the venue itself which are..... top notch

Edwin Starr was the first live Soul artist I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing, so the memory will be with me until my time is up. It was either 1974 or 5 at Tiffany's Durdham Down (Bristol) and I recall being in awe of a superb "craftsman at work" throughout his performance I attended several of his appearances over the years, and the last time I saw him was at Stoke in the late 90,s and recall the backing tracks going tits up so he started singing accapella.......an amazing voice that never seemed to lose any quality, and equally a much loved character that is sorely missed!

Can anyone tell me what the last Motown record released in Detroit was please?
  21. Me, I love my vinyl, and have been an avid collector from day one.......but I'm b---oxed if I'm gonna tell any of you lot about it, you jealous b-----ds you
  22. As with a lot of "sourcers" Motown was my first real musical love, and many of the tunes are timeless in my opinion, more's the pity that due to the enormous output from Hitsville, that a certain percentage never saw the light of day releasewise but alas I suppose I'm grateful for the chance to hear unreleased stuff albeit somewhat dripfed of late ........
