Sorry to intrude Mel, but is it the same Album with his version of Garnett Mimms-Looking for You?
  7. From the compilation point of view, and with related choice track as per question, whilst initially certain compilations "did it for me" the track albeit that didn't follow traditionalist "Northern Soul "ilk but was always "ringing in my ears" was the Curtis Mayfield penned "Make me believe in you" by Patti Jo as part of the Solid Soul Sensations Album.....A difficult acquisition I believe as a 45......but one I let go early doors
  8. Fair do's to you "Webby"......You weren't the unknown Temptation by any chance were you? Love the Temptations, likewise, and have seen them several times, albeit somewhat unfortunately only latterly since early eighties (no disrespect to later line ups meant) Apart from the classic 60's tracks, also love "Papa was a rolling stone" etc. but my personal fave is- I wish it would rain.......class
  9. That's me out of time then ........So many, but.........at the minute..........between.......Lester Tipton and the Ravins ........but that could change......in the meantime

Just a personal slant on this Barry.....in the early days....me and the ex didn't comply to the norm, with regards to anything other than pro-plus and to a degree were ostracised which was sometimes uncomfortable on a 52 seater......I would hazard a guess that out of the 52, myself and the ex are the only individuals still attending some 35 years on, from aforementioned 52 seater....with regard to cliques..they existed in the early 70's and to some extent, some of the same cliques still exist today, however, and whilst respect is due to many....I will never ever know the words to every favourite tune, or even proclaim to know everything about anything associated with our scene.....other than I've loved every minute of it musically.....the rest is ..... personal ! Respect wilxy

Spent some memorable times at Lea Manor......
  14. Pete, I know exactly where your coming from with regard to the latter paragraph, and albeit my collecting habit has slowed down recently,I had been chasing a couple of big Detroit pieces for a long while, which I was chuffed to eventually obtain....alas just like xmas I look forward to it immensely....it comes.....I "enjoy the moment" but it goes flat pretty quickly, and similar to the xmas trimmings, ends up neatly tucked in a box.....roll on next xmas.....

    Sad news indeed RIP Uriel....
  16. Having missed the "initial" airing courtesy of BBC4 on Friday evening, I was "lucky" enough to be "indoors" last night,to view most of the proceedings, and regardless of the "warts and all" overview from a "viewing" perspective, remain both humble and grateful that such a "musical enigma" would influence both my social and personal life to such a degree.....respect....wilxy
  17. Whilst not wishing to start political debate, a certain so called lady has not just left a legacy of initiating such superb venues eventual demise, but moreover destroyed communities and their livelihoods end of... ....rant over......

  21. Peace & Love-Free and Easy-Carol G label....could anyone kindly give me any info with regard to the label, and where it was produced? Credits name Herby Williams as arranger, C.B. Blair as producer and masterdisc credits to Danny Dallas,. The tune is uptempo ealy 70's I'd guess and as one of my more recent acquisitions, would appreciate any help with "background" detail.....cheers wilxy
