  2. Whilst I really appreciate the Motown Sound, and furthermore am not disapproving of the latest output, feel that there are far more worthwhile items that could be "brought to light".....so to speak.....

  12. I remember buying my first "big" original (mid 70's) at Samanthas, Too Late, Larry Williams/Johnny Watson, however as I recall the playlist that comes to mind on one of the several occasions I attended, included the likes of Roger Collins-Sexy sugar plum, and a pretty" upfront " set, which I might add was not averse to, albeit can't recall the DJ? We used to get the train from South Wales to Sheffield on the Friday, and call into Reddingtons records in Birmingham on the way home the next day....Love those times with a passion........
  13. Loved the place....did a few all-dayers mid 70's, and recall several of us sleeping in the car overnight afterwards.....Great times.
  14. Vinyl is for playing, not just for looking at, and whilst taking pride in a fairly decent collection, I make sure I air a section of them on a weekly basis for probably a 3 hour session depending on my shiftwork! I don't get out on a regular basis anymore, but love the music with a passion that will never be surpassed, and without my regular soulful fix, would probably age way beyond my years!......Always on the lookout to refresh the playlist, and will always do so until my number is called....
  15. Whilst appreciating the fact that a few on the tracklisting may be "old hat" so to speak, I personally welcome any new output from such a rich vein of "closeted output", and look forward to many more in due course! Keep 'em coming I say......

    Sir Mack Rice RIP

    R.I.P Sir.......
  17. It's the Temptations with a version of "Sorry is a sorry word" released on VIP by Ivy Jo Hunter.
  18. I have a strange feeling, conversation on here could quite easily become a minefield......
  19. Both shocked and saddened on hearing of Steve's passing recently, a great character who was very influential in the South Wales soul following, particularly in the 1970's.......Will be sadly missed. Goodnight Buddy.....
  20. Fantastic article fellas.....Thanks for sharing.
  21. Personally I've never been a fan of a record not being played at its original RPM for whatever reason!
  22. Thanks Roburt, Sincerely appreciate the input, however I'm struggling to obtain the information I'm seeking at present which incidentally is purely from a collecting perspective, so will persevere I guess.... wilxy
