Tim, I seem to remember a few months ago a topic on here asking members to recommend cheaper records from their collections. I bought a couple of the recommended 45's myself.
I heard Yarmouth promoters Bob & Gavin used to encourage their Saturday night guest DJ's to play a common soul track mixed in with all the rare stuff in their set. I'm not sure it's true, but you stated Steve will be playing some of his Yarmouth memories, so if it is true then can he remember any that he played over the years. I think Sam was partial to a bit of Candi Staton "Young hearts run free" ,Here's a couple of classics that would have fit the bill perfectly The Detroit Emeralds "Feel the need" or David Ruffin "Walk away from love"
I read somewhere this was a Mecca spin, I must have missed it that week or else I'd have definitely searched for one. I've had to settle for the Hit em hard soundtrack for my home listening pleasure. I have absolutely no idea if this is likely to be played on the 5th but it'd be great if it was.
Mr M here's another one from the same era, I think originally this was a secret bonus track at the end of his album. I might as well post it whilst I'm on a roll.
Baz here's a modern soul winner from the Prestwich & Lowton back room era. I always loved playing it, the bass always did it for me. Absolutely brilliant.
That's one for me to look out for.
Calling Hitler the Austrian painter reminded me of that brilliant film MAX starring John Cusack and Noah Taylor. The story of Max Rothman and his meeting of a young Austrian painter A Hitler.
Are you sure you can get your legs moving that fast mate. I once commented to Rob Messer that the Velvet Satins is near impossible to dance to, so he set about proving me wrong when it came on, I'll never say that again.
Rob has Tim bought new slippers for the occasion.
Tim gave me a tour once of every Todmorden venue/pub that had hosted a northern soul night over the last 50years. Do you know if The Golden Lion has been used before or is it a new one.
