  1. Sorry Shane but the stuff you hear in the bars in Sheffield might be House but it certainly ain't Soulful House (if it is you must let me know where they are mate). Was good to see you at Prestatyn in the House of Soul for a few minuites, at least you gave it a chance. Shame a few more didn't follow your lead. Likewise i popped into the RnB room to have a listen for a few minuites & had an interesting chat with Joe Dutton & Roger Banks in there. We sort of agreed to disagree on most things but the one thing we did agree on is how boring it would be if we all liked the same stuff & if we did niether of the mentioned rooms would have been open. Main point i'm trying to make is i don't come on here slagging off RnB & i have given it a chance so is there any need for folks to try hijacking this topic & spoiling it simply because they don't like whats being talked about. Think a lot af folks are missing the point on here & as usual are looking at this strictly from a Northern viewpoint. Mart...
  2. A Bretby Monster. Faith - Dr Gary Henry. Enjoy.
  3. Top quality 1st post Modernlass Pretty much followed the same road as you musically. Got into Northern in the mid to late 70s, loved it at the time & still do. Then came the modern breakthrough in about 1980 via tracks like King Tutt, Larry Brown, ZZ & Co (all big Northern tracks now) & always went to venues that played both if possible. Soulful House just seemed the natural progression for me musically. Good quality up-tempo danceable soul music. Don't get me wrong, still love the northern & late 70s/early 80s stuff but for me Soulful House is just the missing peice of the jig-saw for me at the moment. Had some great times spinning Soulful House at the Bretby Nighters a few years ago when Terry Gee ran the modern room & it was suprising how many folks came in from the Northern room & had a great time. Probably going to get all the usual "Disco Shite" quotes from the same old faces for this post even though i don't go slagging stuff off that they like but what the hell, each to there own i guess. Heard this played a few times in northern rooms recently & always to a good dance floor response, Originally done by Ultra High Frequency on Wand. Deep Sensation - Soul Heaven...

  8. Here's the Chris Knight bootleg mix that samples Johnny Taylor with the Shapeshitters (oops, my spellings getting worse ). Dont kick in until it's about 2 minuites in. 01___.mp3 Will post some more up later if anybody's interested (no snide comments please!)
  9. Nice version that Lars, seem to remember a Kenny Dope re-mix of the Orgone version a while back but it ain't the version i'm looking for. Thanks anyway , Mart....
  10. Just been speaking to one of the promoters from Prestatyn about this & there were only 2 people who had a record stolen. Hardly a sackfull of mail is it Paddy Guess you must have a very small sac
  11. Posted a couple of versions of Funky Nassau up & was just wondering if someone out there can return the favour & post up an mp3 of the white label promo of this that came out about 12-18 months ago, better still sell me a copy. Not got much info on this exept it say's "Shout 002" on the label, was made in Europe & the b side is called "move bitch". Been played recently by Niel Rushton. Seen the 2 copy's on gemm but the sellers don't look too reliable. Thanks, Mart...
  12. Different innit, you want to hate it but you just can't bring yourself to do it & at the end of the day it is Lou Pride. Bet he made a load more money from this version than he did from the original Hope he did anyway..
  13. How about this from the same album then Kenny? 05___Love_Will_Make_it_Alright.mp3 If you want any more from't album Kenny go buy it ya tightwad
  14. See what you think of this from Lou Pride from last year from the album Keep On Believing.
  15. Bloody link did'nt work, try typing angel rissoff into Google & check out link for "Where Have You Been" on cd baby website. Clips of all tracks off the album on there.
  16. Couple of other nice tracks on it but be warned - guy looks like the soul scene's answer to Meatloaf Have a listen here www.cdbaby.com/cd/rissoff/from/allrecordlabels
  17. Here's another for you Soulsmith. It's Angel Rissoff from last year or as Brett calls him - Man with beard Should go down well with somebody brought up on a diet of 60s Northern IMO 08___Break_Out_the_Tears.mp3
  18. Top tune Sean & Lotusland had totally forgotten about this. Must be 20+ years since i last heard this & now i guess it's another one on the shopping list.
  19. Remembered what album called now, "I Remember!" what a nob Rest of the album didn't do too much for me, seemed like they tried to squeeze too much onto it, bout 18 tracks i think & it lost a bit production wise IMO.
  20. Ya right Roger, Me'lisa Morgan off last years album (forgot name at moment). Thought i'd heard you playing it late on last year? Was going to put up the Chris Knight bootleg mix of Johnny Taylor's "What About My Love" but i think i'd end up getting tarred & feathered Maybe your'e right Soulsmith but i was into up-tempo northern many years ago (still am i guess) & think if your'e into 120 bpm stuff from the 60s ya gonna be into the same sort of tempo with 2k stuff. Will post some more up tomorrow night for you
  21. Ya right Mike, it was done by Ray Munnings but not his best. Keep your eyes open for "It Could Happen To You" on Tammi (7" & 12") Here's Ray's version of Funky Nassau
  22. How about these two
