  1. Summertime - High Frequency.
  2. Thought i noticed Charlie. A true comedy legend Must be seen live to be believed, trust me.
  3. With you on this. I started attending the Casino on a regular basis about a year after this when Richard started dropping the pop stuff in favour of quality soul music like Mr Soul & The Combinations & what were then new releases like Daybreak, ZZ & Co, Larry Houston & many more. It probably was great at the time but that was then & this is now (IMVHO of course)
  4. Sending it you now mate
  5. Hope you don't think this was a dig at you John. Just don't think record company's should be selling demo's to promote there product. Example for you, A friend of mine called Coxy owns a record shop in Sheffield called Cool Wax that sell new release dance & House music. He also runs a very successfull night in Sheffield called Hustle that plays new release dance music. Every day he gets reps coming in leaving him 12" demo's for free to play in the shop & at his night to promote the release (if it's good enough). A classic example of this was last years release of "That's What Love Does" by Vincent Montana. Coxy played this & thought it was more suited to our scene & gave me his demo which got played at our Modernism nights & it went massive on the Modern scene & even crossed over onto the Northern scene. Coxy sold quite a few copies of the record to customers who would not normally gone near his shop in a million years & it even got a full UK release on Defected records. I'm not trying to take the credit for this records success as it would have gone massive anyway. Probably going to get ripped to bits for this but the Grapevine demo's are nothing more than a scam to rip folks off IMO, stick a different label on them & charge the punters double under the pretence they will be collectors items in the future. Do the artists receive double money for the sale of these so called demo's? i think not. Regarding Carl's demo's that you are selling, of course i'm not suggesting you give them away as they are rare collectors items & may i commend you on the honourable job you are doing in selling them. Point i'm trying to make though is that when these 30-40 year old demo's were 1st made did the record companys sell them? Of course they didn't so why are people doing it now? Mart...
  6. Might be me getting hold of the wrong end of the stick but don't record companys make discs like this for promotion reasons so should they not be free? It even says on a lot of demo's "not for re-sale"
  7. All too true Sean Guess you best offload your copy of LaRom Baker to me now for a fiver before the value drops even further. You know it makes sense
  8. No lift Kirsty. Anyway how come you're not there
  9. BBC 4 Tonight 21 - 00 Otis Redding 22 - 00 Bill Withers 22 - 30 Gil Scott-Heron
  10. Nobody want the Sam Dees then
  11. Thought the last time you went in a modden room Dave was when Geoff Hirst scored his hat trick
  12. You guys on the northern scene have got it easy. Us Modern fans have to put up with things like this. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Modern-Soul-Black-To...1QQcmdZViewItem
  13. Cheers Simon
  14. Cheers Simon Any more info on when said sale takes place & how much?
  15. Anybody got any info on the price or availability of this or an mp3 please.
  16. This ain't bad either. Know it exists on booted 12"s but never officially released (don't think it was anyway) 12___Where_Are_We_Going.mp3
  17. Don't DJ at many northern nights any more Ian (probably because i play things like the Paul Varley track that's on another thread ) but on the odd time i do a northern spot i try to fit this in somewhere. Great record. Got a spare copy you can have for £15 & i'll even chuck in a copy of our latest Modernism CD if you want it. Send us a pm if you're interested. Mart...
  18. Wondered how long it would take for this to surface. Regular request at our Modernism nights at the moment but it gets played through gritted teeth. It's Paul Varney (now's the chance to get the Reg Varney jokes out the way!) on KGBT records & it's only released on a 12" promo so it's pretty scarce so if you see a copy get it bought. Not a patch on Darrell Banks but it works from a dancefloor point of view. Remember Gayle Adams
  19. Royal Esquires, Danny Moore, Patrinell Staten, Jackie Day, Will Collins (on Bareback & Italian pic sleeve), Oxford Knights etc etc. No dis-respect to JM but if loads of copies have turned up then credit must go to Pete for letting the punters know. After all that's most of us on this site ain't it
  20. Someone's got to collect the glasses Steve
  21. Just popping up the updated flier for the re-union so if Richard Searling decides he wants in it's tough shit as he will have to double deck with me for the 1st hour Mart...
  22. Getting quite a lot of spins in the Yorkshire area by the likes of Andy Whitmore, Errol Green, Rob Wigley & me if anyone's daft enough to book me . The other side (Fallen Star) seems to be getting a few plays too but it's not a patch on Choosing IMO. Stumbled on a 12" a while back from a record dealer in your neck of the woods called Damac music but never recieved it. Guess he realised it's true value Mart...
  23. Sorry to have to disagree with J-Brew but at the moment i think £100 is about right & it's sure to rise way higher as demand dictates values as we all know. Saw a copy go on e-bay for about £120 a while back. Also not sure that Hamito - Semitica is the 2nd press as if you check the serial numbers with a CSC copy you'll see they are the same (104). The same company pressed them both so it could be a reigonal thing. The really rare copy though is the 12" issue & yes it does exist. Only ever seen one though.
  24. Your'e not getting mixed up with the Assembly Rooms are you Darran? Might be me though, grey matter not what it was
