  1. Brilliant. See the seller has signed his name as Sole Sam.
  2. Good point Bogue, The majority of the contributors did seem to be Londoners or Southern based so perhaps a brief profile of the 100 club could have been squeezed in (assuming Kenny would let e'm in ) I may be wrong here but ain't BBC 4 based in Manchester?
  3. Just watched the final part of Soul Britannia & i must say that after last weeks shambles it got back on track with a very good round up of the general Soul scene in the UK. Some very valid points from Eddie Piller, Trevor Nelson, Norman Jay & i'm probably going to get shot down for this but Jazzie B talked some good stuff as well. Couple of minor hiccups, another comment about the Northern scene being an exclusively white scene & god knows why they had to show Lily Allen but overall a pretty good effort. Anybody else watch it? PS, Soul Britannia concert now on BBC 4 & well worth watching.
  4. Guess you mean Brian Cardno. Don't know his e mail addy but will PM you his phone number.
  5. Bloody hell Mel! Just been looking in't gallery & if this is what lighter fuel does to your records i might give it a try Seriously though, Like the artwork
  6. That's the one Miff. Also got First Impressions - High Energy & I Can't Stop - Bettye Lavette on it. Thought they were limited to 100 though.
  7. Just wondering what it's worth on a Motown 12" demo? Had it in my sales box for a while now & never sure what to ask for it but keep getting told it's a lot rarer than the 7"
  8. Before you all go rushing off to the shops for tins of lighter fuel think about this 1st. Lighter fuel is petroleum distillate, in other words PETROL, the same stuff you fill up your cars with. The next time 1 of the kids come in with a grazed knee would you clean the wound with lighter fuel or surgical spirit?
  9. Apologies for above post. Program that's on is the Jools Holland Soul Britannia edition but it passes an hour on i suppose.
  10. Programs repeated at 12-20 on BBC 4 if anyone missed it or even wants to watch it again
  11. Here's the link but don't go in without the correct safety gear on /index.php?showtopic=42593
  12. Simon, think you'll find Mr Sheen gets umpteen things clean Always used surgical spirit & a soft cloth myself as it cleans well & any left on the record evaporates so it don't do any damage. Also good for getting ink off labels but don't go mad with it. Wouldn't go near an acetate with it though.
  13. Sadly i missed the 1st episode so i can't comment on it. As for last nights episode IMO it was poorly researched & was obviously aimed at a mainstream audience with the inclusion of the likes of Bowie, Hucknell, Rolands, Boy George etc. Think that a previous comment by Tony Rounce hit the nail on the head, the programme was called Soul Britannia & not Northern Soul Britannia. As for Jazzy B's comments, were they directed at the Northern Soul scene or at Northern England in general? Also willing to bet that Jazzy gave a lengthy interview & the BBC chose to use his comments as they were controversial. Just had a quick look on the Link given by Bob Jones & noticed that there is a link to this site so the BBC obviously know that we exist so if they plan anything in the future perhaps they might ask us 1st. Sure there are enough people on this site with media influences who could put them right in a constructive way regarding the current Northern & Modern Soul scene for any future programs. Over to you Pete, Tony, Dr Bob etc.
  14. Just been reading about him never losing a fight & how he was known as the Don Juan of Rotherham Kinda took a shine to this guy
  15. Only just seen that Dave. Explains everything. Got his mobile number from the article in the local paper so might ask him for his top 50 records to post up on here, could be interesting
  16. Just read an article in the diary pages of our local newspaper that reviewed a book called Sex, Drugs & Northern Soul that was written by Jason Tune from my home town of Rotherham. Strange thing is he only lives about 1/2 a mile away from me on Church Street in Kimberworth & even went to the same school as both my kids but i don't know him or anybody that has ever heard of him. Any info on him would be most welcome as it all seems a bit of a mystery to me. Follow this link for a brief review of the book (guess i'm gonna have to buy it). https://chipmunkapublishing.co.uk/shop/inde...58ac3ec2942b19f
