  1. Above posts edited. Can ask members to use the clip player to post sounds on site & use PM's to send MP3's in line with site policy.
  2. Hi Skorpiano, Can you please use the clip player to post sounds on site instead of posting mp3's. You can find the clip player button at the bottom of each thread. Thanks, Mart...
  3. Coke Eskovedo was album only but has recently been repressed on a 7" & in stock at Crazy Beat. Link here. https://www.crazybeat.co.uk/stocklist.asp?s...archwhat=Artist
  4. Glad you thought it was ok Dave (as shite goes ) Would also like to thank all of the 5000+ people who have also listened to it Funny thing is there's only 3 original copy's, mine, Julia Nicols & Barry Sharpe's who did the remix. Guess that makes it rarer than a copy of the Magnetics on Bonnie As for playing 3 house tracks in a 1 hour spot you may have a point - don't leave much time for owt else
  5. Mines on a white label 12" test press with the instrumental on the b side. Just says Mauve mix on the label. Don't think it got a full release.
  6. Is Northern not dance music?
  7. Not really Baz if it's done right. A bit of everything in moderation. Seem to be too many wedges getting driven into the whole scene at the moment & thats got to be a bad thing for the whole future of the Soul scene in general. There's nearly 50 years of bloody great misic out there so make the most of it.
  8. Not suggesting for 1 minute that Soulful House should be played in a Northern room or Northern in a House room (even if there are obvious connections ) Can't see a problem though if it's played in a SOUL room alongside a bit of Northern, bit of Crossover, bit of Modern, bit of 80s Boogie etc. Might even play a bit of Disco for Pete & Baz :tomato2:
  9. Ahh the old Soulful House nugget rears it's ugly head again. Whenever a thread starts about Soulful House you can always gaurantee that within a couple of posts the word Northern appears. Simple fact is SH is underground 120bpm soulful dance music from America thats released on tiny indipendent labels & quite a lot of stuff don't see the light of day (sound familiar?). Seems to be getting popular on't Northern scene via DJ's like Sam playing things like Michael Proctor, Urban Blues Project etc. Just a shame that some folks struggle to accept good quality Soulful dance music unless it fits into thier little pigeon hole. Above comment works both ways as well as several Modern fans seem to shun 60s sounds. What difference does it make wether it was made in 1967 or 2007? If its good quality Soul music with a dance beat get it played for Gods sake.
  10. PM'd you Karl
  11. Creations here. /index.php?showtopic=47006
  12. Saw a Freddie Waters in Butch's sales box a couple of weeks ago for £100 if thats any help.
  13. Did you get my PM Sebastian?
  14. The old Modern room was getting a bit worn round the edges so it's about time to open a new'un before Rachel gives me an ear bashing. What ya waiting for?
  15. Here's a link that works. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Contours As for the comments about Chuck being a better singer than Tony Womack thats a matter of opinion & I don't think the 2500 who saw Sylvester Potts's Contours at Prestatyn last year would agree with you. The point I was making was that Chuck Davis was only about 7 years old when Sylvester & Joe were having there hits in the early 60s & he was a Contour in the Levine, Motorcity era. Just a shame that such a great band have had this split & an even bigger shame they can't patch things up. I'm sure thats something we can both agree on. Mart... PS, I think your caps lock is stuck
  16. Chuck Davis??? Spent 5 days with the real Contours & thier manager & keyboard player Glen Raby last year & Chuck Davis is definitely not the lead singer. The lead singers are Sylvester Potts & Tony Womack. Think you'll find Chuck Davis was only about 7 years old when the Contours were formed & is a singer with some sort of Contours tribute band a bit like all the Drifters tribute bands Paddy.
  17. Hi Paddy, Did'nt realise it was your site at first. Looks a cracking line up for the weekender (apart from the FV's ) Would'nt mind seeing Deon Jackson live & might even have a mosie on down. Can you confirm that he's still on as heard the Contours have been added to the line up & was wondering if it's to replace anybody? (Hope it's the Vandals) Mart...
  18. Don't know whose site it is & don't particularly care but WTF is the writer on about? Tries to tell us we should be listening to good old authentic 60s northern & then tries to sell us tickets to see the Four fekkin Vandals. Getting it right? Yeah ok PS, see the mentioned story has already mysteriously vanished for some strange reason
  19. Not really into 'retro covers' so probably not the right person to comment on it but the kid's obviously got talent if he played everything himself. Must have struck a chord as i played it twice & would'nt have done that if I had'nt have liked it. Would like to know if he's done any original material & would like to hear it if he has.
  20. Bit more info here with soundclips. Getting released on May 1st on Kenny & Keb's Kay Dee label. Can't wait to hear the 12" mix. https://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=7615&alias=upfront
  21. Saw all the interest in the recent Spinners / Doug Parkinson thread so thought we'd do an Original v Cover version day this Saturday. Will kick it off in a min.
  22. Think John must have pressed the 0 key a time too much. Been offered 2 x 7" copys for £100 each but gonna hang on for a bit to see if a 12" turns up before I jump in. Better sound quality & 1/2 the price or less.
  23. You're right Oscar the 7" does seem to turn up less. Would sooner have the 12" though simply because the sound quality's always better on a 12" than a 7" + with a bit of luck it'll be cheaper.
  24. Anybody out there got a copy of Get Ready - Alan Harris & Perpetual Motion for sale? Would prefer the 12" but a 7" will do. Thanks, Mart...
