  1. Can't wait for the next 'vinyl v cd' argument so I can throw that in
  2. Too easy this. Longest i know is the remix of What About My Love - Johnny Taylor. Vocals dont kick in until 2 mins 19 seconds. Most early 60s Northern tracks finish in less time than that. No wonder Sam's playing an edited version
  3. One of the highlights of last year for me was hearing none other than the Soul Source main honcho Mike Hughes play this sandwiched inbetween the Lamont Cranston Band & Arthur Miles (Trippin) at Shanes all dayer in Sheffield. A rock band, a funk band & an Italian disco singer in a Northern room. Shouldn't have worked but it did, the floor went berzerk & rightly so. Take a bow Mike
  4. Swan 12" boxes are just the same. Got a 12" swan box that holds 80 & for security it can't be beat but it's a sod to carry for the same reasons, digs into the skin & is off balance.
  5. As mentioned above Swan are top quality but they ain't cheap. If your'e looking for a cheaper option try the link below. Best thing is if you buy more than 1 item off them they reduce postage. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-Aluminium-100-...oQQcmdZViewItem
  6. Nice that Paul. More classic Major here. ">
  7. Jill & George
  8. Go on Stevie
  9. Marvin & Tammi.
  10. Just saw this posted up on another forum (thanks Bessy) & thought it would be good if we had a place for our favourite Soul related video's on here. Off you go.
  11. Look at it from the other side though. The people who were buying what they thought were 2nd issues have got bargains. Only problem is that the folks who bought what they thought were originals have ended up with the 2nd press. Who's right then, Manship or Clarkie???
  12. 100% sure it wasn't the lights Sean. Have even played the green copy myself but it was in the early 80s. Have pm'd you some more info on it.
  13. Thanks for all the info so far following my original post. Been extremely helpful especially the album info but there's not been any comment about the green Columbus copy yet. Anybody?
  14. Just curious Simon, Why does it have to be one of the copies that turned up a few years ago. Do you know something that we don't?
  15. Even if he bought it off you Kenny
  16. Can't remember the Sam & Arthur nights down there. You sure Steve? As for the Robin Hood nights in 77/78 thats probably where me & Mark are getting mixed up as the nights I went to were in 1984 & i'm pretty sure it was called Mr Smiths then. Remember the year very well as it was the time I made quite a big mistake - Married the ex. Regarding La Chambre. My subs are up for renewal so I guess yours are too
  17. Spin City's on Westfield Terrace & is owned by Andy who is a member on here Mark, user name 'phatspinner'. Always worth calling in & have had some nice bits off him over the years. Sad news is he is shutting down in the next few weeks so be sure to pop in. Remember the nights at Take Two but only went twice, once with Brent Smith & once with his brother Allan. Also remember the nights at the Robin Hood but think it had been renamed Mr Smiths fun bar or something like that when they were on. Might be wrong but were they midweek? Well worth a visit now though as i'm sure you well know
  18. It's DM 1879 (the common one). Was out with Joe aka Pikey on Saturday & if it had been the other version i'd have snapped it up.
  19. Probably will if & when I post up part 2 Was only joking anyway, She didn't win the dance contest - she came 2nd to the Billy Elliot wanabee
  20. So here's how I see the thread ending. Your nameless mate joins Soul Source & puts up a post saying they were all requests & she was playing to the dancefloor. Probably uses a name like Sorry Soulie Girlie & uses a crying smiley (closest I could find). The Soul Police (whoever they are) decide the only suitable punishment is to tar & feather her but as it's a first offence they take pity & suspend the sentence. Sorry Soulie Girlie say's she's been a very naughty girl & won't do it again & everybody takes pity on her & takes her under their wings. Everything turns out great for Sorry Soulie Girlie & she gets loads of bookings & even goes on to win the dance contest at the next Blackpool weekender (ah bless). Everything on Soul Source returns to normal & we all live happily ever after. End of part one................
  21. Don't you mean Lambrini & Cava Mark
  22. Can see this being massive on the 'rare sole scene'
  23. Don't get me going with the b45t4rd5 from the PRS Steve They want to charge me £290 to listen to the radio at work. There's only 5 of us work there & only 2 of us actually listen to the radio & we both use our own radio's & both pay a licence fee so who the hell do they think they are? As for boots just take a look at sites like Manship, Brady, Brown etc, All reputable record dealers but all sell e'm. Who is there on this site who buy's records who has never owned a boot? Not many if any I bet. As for them bieng played out I guess it depends on the venue. Somewhere like the Drax where folks just go for the social side of it & a bit of a dance & a few beers does it matter to the full dance floor? I guess not or they wouldn't be there in the 1st place. Only thing that matters to them is what comes out of the speakers. Now take somewhere like Vault of Soul last night or the Friendship, Totally different crowd & to the punters that attend these nights it does matter. Different punters who are mostly die hard collectors. Only thing that matters to them when they're having a dance is what's on the decks. Personally I regularly attend nights like VoS & Friendship & have never been to Drax but i'm not going to start slagging them for having a good time. End of the day it's each to their own but it has made an entertaining read on a Sunday afternoon. PS, Don't forget to pm me vinyl carvers number Steve
  24. Just been on popsike looking under ZZ & Co & ZZ & Company as well & it don't help much Mark. Seems old Zee Zee had e'm in his garage, loft, attic, kitchen, swimming pool etc. Not only that but when it's played on this side o't pond shouldn't we call it Zed Zed & Co rather than Zee Zee
  25. Seems that every time I look through a sales box recently I see a copy of ZZ & Co for about £200 & every time I ask about it the seller say's it came directly from the label owner. Pretty sure that they're are 2 different presses of this as well as can remember some pretty heated debate on here a couple of years ago that even included the label owner himself. Boots? Originals? 2nd presses? Anybody shed any light on the topic? Can also remember an old mate having a green copy with silver writing on Columbus years ago. Never seen or heard of another green un. Anybody help?
