  1. Does this mean you ain't open minded then Pete You do realise 1/2 the folks on SS are going to save that 1st line & throw it back at you regularly Worth keeping an eye out for Soul Deep on BBC4 as it gets repeated pretty regularly. Also just been on the BBC Soul Deep webpage & there are no plans for an official DVD release sadly.
  2. Just picked up a copy of the latest Mojo magazine for the Motown 50th birthday special & thought a few of you on here might be interested. The Motown section contains a pretty comprehensive Motown top 100 with reviews for each record & they ain't the usual pap that you would expect. Also some pretty interesting interviews with people like Berry Gordy, HDH etc. Some great pics in it as well & quite a few I ain't seen before. https://cover.mojo4music.com/Item.aspx?page...5&year=2009 Also contains a free cd as well & it's not the usual stuff you'd expect from a mag like this. Tracklisting as follows. 1 Contours - Do You Love Me 2 Martha & Vvadellas - Come & Get These Memories 3 Supremes - Run Run Run 4 Eddie Holland - Leaving Here 5 Jr Walker - Tune Up 6 Marvin Gaye - At Last (I Found A Love) 7 Marvelettes - Locking Up My Heart 8 Jackson 5 - I Found That Girl 9 Four Tops - Still Water 10 Miracles - Baby Don't You Go 11 Temptations - Fading Away 12 Gladys Knight & Pips - Didn't You Know (You'd Have To Cry Sometime) 13 Bobby Taylor & Vancouvers - Does Your Mama Know About Me 14 Marv Johnson - Come To Me 15 Mable John - You Made A Fool Out Of Me Well worth the £4.30 cover price & a must for the Motown fans.
  3. Know you like a bit of 2k dance music as well Veruschka so why not go for the Nervous label?
  4. I'm going to get some rabbits tattooed on my head. From a distance they'll look like hares
  5. Just found this on youtube & be sure to watch it to the end. Nice touch. Now see if you can guess who's going to come on & say Etta James is better than Beyonce
  6. Just got back from our local Woolworths in Rotherham & bought some 12" album racking that should hold about 1000 records for £10. Rock solid as well & a steal at the price I paid & loads left. Well worth having a look but be quick as they shut down for good in the next couple of days.
  7. You could pick these up for about a fiver on places like e bay a few months ago. Bet you can't find one for that price now. ">
  8. Just a quick post to say thank you to everybody for making the 'box/media' forums so special & informative for the last year. Here's to more of the same for 2009. Many thanks & a happy new year to each & every one of you. Mart...

  10. Someone got themselves a bargain there Tez with the prices this has been fetching recently. Main thing though is £50 going to the right place. At risk of repeating myself, top gesture mate
  11. Might have got more of a response if you'd chose not to post it up at 10pm on christmas day ya big daft sod Ow't I can do to help Kev just give us a bell mate & good luck with it. Very worthy cause.
  12. Thank god for that. Had a yellow vinyl copy myself way back in the late 70's & nobody ever believes me. Maybe now they will. Think it was a boot though but not 100% certain. Guessing it was done with the Eddie Foster & James Lewis coloured vinyl boots. Sure JM will enlighten us when he see's this.
  13. Spoken like a true Ferengi
  14. What about the blue ones Think what we all really want to know though is are loads of them going to turn up now like the Daybreaks did a couple of years ago. Remember them going for silly money on e bay in the 1st few days.
  15. Just giving this a bump for Terry as I know how in demand it is now folks like Sam are hammering it & with all the money raised by it's sale going to such a worthy cause it deserves to go for as much as possible.
  16. Oh well as it's Christmas I guess quite a few of you will be getting compilation CD's & albums from Santa so was just wondering what you'll be hoping for this year. There's so much to go at now & thought it might be interesting to see what folks favourite comps are. Ady's Kent comps, all the Goldmine stuff, Ian Levines recent packages etc. The list is endless. Guess my favourites are the top quality Soul Spectrum albums put together by Keb Darge & the Togetherness albums that come out at the end of each year. Off you go.
  17. I know Andy. Been playing it myself for quite a while now.
  18. Not very fair on the person who matters the most though - Mario Biondi. Now that you have sold all the promo's it means the record will get no promotion whatsoever to a mainstream audience as all the promo's are now tucked away in collectors record boxes. Totally agree with you that it is a fantastic record & if a more mainstream audience had heard it I'm sure it would have sold reasonably well but now they won't get the chance as the mainstream media have no copies. Will Mario Biondi be getting a percentage of the sales from these promo's ?
  19. Great gesture Terry Went for well over £100 recently on e bay so hopefully you'll get a fair price for it for a very worthy cause. Sorry to hear about the 'man-flu' as well fella.
  20. Just giving this a bump as John Manships on site so maybe he can clear it up.
  21. Reckon we might have found the winner of the Blackpool 2009 dance contest
  22. https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/blackpoo...t-of.4672076.jp
  23. Small world Dave. Did exactly the same with the copy Gaz had for sale but decided I'd get one cheaper if I hung on
  24. Should these 100 promo copy's be sold like this? If there's only 100 promo copy's as you state & you're selling them for a tenner each how is the 7" release going to get any actual promotion. Thought the whole idea of promo copy's was to distribute them to folks like DJ's, radio stations, shops etc to actually promote the official release & not to be sold to collectors. Not only that but never known an artist get a fee for promo copy's. Not a personal dig at you as have said this on here before about other so called promo's/demo's (don't need to name them as folks know who I mean) & also not a dig at the record as it's a great track & have been playing out the 12" version for a while now. Just like to see artists getting what's due to them.
  25. Not me Bri. Take the 12" any day of the week. Normally cheaper & most importantly in most cases better sound quality.
