  1. People who pigeonhole music because it was made in a certain year or judge music by it's rarity above it's quality. Good Soul music is just that regardless of wether it was made in the early 1960's or last week & also regardless of wether it cost a fiver or five grand.
  2. Think you could class all the sections Soulful in one way or another Nik Take another look Ken as Funk listed as 'Other'. Already got a 'crap section' anyway /index.php?showuser=1986
  3. If 3 cats. 1 - Northern 2 - Modern 3 - Other ................................ If 5 cats 1 - RnB 2 - Northern (possibly split into 'sub cats' eg, Classics, Rarities, current big sounds etc) 3 - Crossover 4 - Modern (split again in 'sub cats' Possibly pre 2k & post 2k) 5 - Other ('sub cats' possibly Deep, Funk, Jazz Soulful House as all popular in Media at moment) Could also include Jamaica thread into this.
  4. Hmmm - Now't upstairs Kenny

  6. Can remember hearing this played over a Hanna Barbera cartoon many years ago. Only saw it the once but was of a guy walking down a road if memory serves correct. Anyone else familiar with it or even better still got a clip of the film they can post up.
  7. Can confirm the above. Daftest thing is though the quietest place is behind the decks as all the sound is in front of you so if we have earplugs in it sounds quieter so we turn it up! Best thing was seeing Kev Thomas wearing his up his nostrils Petition signed...
  8. A lot harder to pick up on 7" than most folks think Harry. Know you want the 7" but theres a copy of the album on e bay cheap if thet will get you by until a 7" turns up. Fantastic record BTW https://cgi.ebay.com/Kalyan-Kalyan-All-The-...p3286.m20.l1116
  9. Yep, after it for 'Oh I Miss You' & 'All Season Love' on the same album's pretty good as well. Keep seeing it pop up on e bay but they never seem to be in good nick. Hope tha't taking it to't Friendship on't 31st
  10. Let's Make A Song.
  11. Sticking this in AATS Kenny.
  12. Ditto.....
  13. No if's No but's, Tyron Dixon feat John Davis - Bringing Back (original mix) will be an absoloute monster on the Modern scene this year & if somebody like Sam picks up on it maybe the Northern scene as well. https://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=se...&sc=artists Available to download legally from traxsource link above for a modest fee. No release date yet so thats the only way you're going to get it for now.
  14. Said played in the title so played it is.
  15. Back on topic, Would say my favourite Motorcity track is I've Seen The Light - JJ Barnes. Got the 12" in my playbox but was it released on 7" Ian?
  16. Think you'll find that Mike is NOT trying to shut these threads but was just splitting them & moving them to what he considered to be the correct forums. Can members please keep to the topic header & ask any questions like this in the 'members feedback' forum. Thanks.
  17. "Only 2 known copies" Yeah right, Butch, Sam, Arthur, Ginger & Andy Dyson are playing it.....
  18. Seen the thread about Sams worst ever record so thought it would only be fair to look at the positive side of the great man. Off you go.....
  19. Anybody got a copy of the Beres Hammond album Lets Make A Song in reasonable condition they would be willing to part with? PM me if you have a copy for sale. Thanks, Mart...
  20. Message to ALL members. Now the Ian Levine 'songs' thread has been moved to the 'box' forum can you all please keep replies on topic. If you have any other comments post them in the 'Members Feedback' forum.
  21. Would have thought your avatar might have been a little clue Tony As for the term Mod ain't it just an abbreviation of Modern so if a Mod is going to listen to RnB should it not be 2009 RnB & not something as old as their parents Mods from Manc & the big Smoke - Who was the King of the Mods? Peter Stringfellow from Sheffield before he moved down South to make his millions. Remember the Mojo? Back on topic. Why do blokes in their 50's still go to nighters? Same reason as blokes in their 50's go fishing & play golf. To get away from her indoors for a few hours
  22. How the hell do you know Kev - you've got no bloody teeth Think there was a poll on here a couple of years ago & the average age was mid to late 40's if memory serves me correctly.
  23. Offensive comments removed from thread. Good humored banter is fine but offensive posts are out of order & WILL be acted upon by site.
