  1. Cos that's how fast the decks go round, somebody had to invent them Only tells half the story really. RCA & CBS played a major part in it via microgroove but also has something to do with gear & belt ratio's. Subtract 33 from 78 & you come up with 45. Simple really innit! Good question Jordi. Have asked something similar before & never got much of an answer. What's the better quality - A 5 minute long 12" single that plays at 45 rpm or a 5 minute long 12" single that plays at 33 rpm? Don't encourage him
  2. All great versions of a truly great song really Steve but Al Mason just shades it for me. Will post it up in a mo.
  3. Always amazed at how much folks pay for Al Mason on Fynal Vynil as it's only a second issue & not the original vinyl copy as JM stated in the auction. Came out first on the Al & The Kid 12" a few years before. Thought the Allan Harris 12" would go for a lot more though as a copy went through on e bay a few days ago for more than double than the JM auction copy.
  4. Also recorded by Al Mason of Good Lovin fame. Came out in 1994 on a very hard to find CD called I Can't Complain. Took me ages to track down a copy. Best version as well IMO.
  5. Bit early yet Mark Nice review, playlist & pictures. Bottom corners look kinda familiar
  6. Ok then Simon. I'll carve Motherfox & do a straight swap for your original copy. Will even remove the 'wonky bit' near the end for you What the hell I'll even pay your postage fella
  7. Very desirable re-issue though Simon. What about the Lotusland recent re-issue though? Only way to get the full 12" version so does that make it an original
  8. Got a full video of the Delroy G Pinnock off the new album to post up Ian? 2nd track on the promo video & the stand out track to my ears.
  9. Strewh Brett! Would normally delete this in an instant but have decided to leave it as an example of the most off topic post ever to appear on Soul Source Time to return the cooking sherry to the kitchen & hit the sack fella. Will call you tomorrow r/e Friday.
  10. It's a good job Brett would rather eat his own arm than click on a Soulful House thread Murray. Fear the case hardened tiger knife would make a reappearance if he ever did
  11. Proud to be back in the best venue we have ever had.
  12. Very nice fella
  13. Oh yes you have Brett. You've seen mine & also my 7" as well (ooerr missus!) While on here can someone confirm if the CSC copy was before the Hamito - Semitica copy as they both have the same matrix number along with the 12" copy (off the top of my head think it's 104). Will post a pic of said 12" copy later. Nice test press Brett
  14. Cheesy records? Seller must have heard you playing out Joe Had the same thing happen but at least they were 12" singles in a 12" box (smelled like a spicy meatfeast if I remember rightly).
  15. Thought that said white malarkey for a minute Dave Back on topic - Was wondering how scarce the Erma Franklin was as had a copy way back in the 70's & moved it on. Took me the best part of 30 years to find another & the copy I bought was the very same copy I sold in the late 70s. Also paid less for it than I sold it for.
  16. It's all Soulful Dance music Andy, just that we all move the goalposts round to suit our particular tastes.
  17. You've cracked the mystery Joe - It's the Duke of Edinburgh
  18. Not as daft as it sounds Ian. Just think of the media hype if Hirsty outbid Weller for it & then went on to encase the worlds most expensive record in formaldahide & passed it off as a work of art Be worth millions then if it ever came up for sale again
  19. Was hoping this didn't get trawled up but now it has I can confirm there is a copy in the hands of a London area Motown collector but pretty sure it's NOT the copy John is planning to auction. Have actually seen/held the copy & it's in near mint condition as well or it was in 2000 when I saw it. Guy who owns it don't have anything to do with the Northern/Rare Soul scene & he don't go waving it around saying look what I've got. Not going to say who he is as was asked not to by the owner so don't waste your time asking me as I'm keeping stum.
  20. Quite clearly says 'Promotional. Not For Sale' on the 2, 3, 4, 5, boxfull of known copy's. Does this mean that legally Motown could actually claim ALL of the money from the auction or even demand it's return? Same goes for the sale of any Demo/Promo copy. Got to remember no tax or royalties have been paid on it in the first place.
  21. Amazed at how many members of your family are into Soul music James. Will burn a copy off for your Pa if he really wants it
  22. Was expecting that coming Joe & surprised it took 11 minutes to be honest.
  23. A Knife, A Fork, A Bottle & A Cork! Must confess to spinning Dillinger myself right from it first getting released right through to last November at the Wakefield dayer. The rooms reaction was priceless. Half of the folks were bobbing up & down to it & the other half just didn't get it at all & were sat there like this Suppose if it's good enough for Curtains it's good enough for me. Think I'll have to bring it to Morecambe in May just for you Andy Well worth watching the video below even if you hate the record with a vengence to see the guy dancing in the street to it & then go & check out some of his other video's. Great stuff
  24. Wonder if John will list it in his 'Drop Down Bargain Hunt' Normally does with stuff in this condition
  25. Bought a 4 track issue 12" last summer on discogs for 5 euro's + 5 euro's postage. Was another on the same site as well for the same price but the seller wouldn't let me have it as he had a 10 euro minimum purchase & didn't have ow't else I wanted. Might still be there but I doubt it.
