  1. Bloody hell Russ don't you start as well - Moddun oldies??? Don't Brett. We'll have Goateechin Murray joining in if he see's that Why's my text shrunk??? Dam this new 'Modern' upgrade
  2. Makes you wonder if the 'Modern' & 'Northern' tags should be laid to rest. Just call it 60's 70's etc. Might cause us a problem though running a night called 'Modernism' Banned? Moderators on here can be ruthless at times Guessing you've backed Sri Lanka in the 20/20 cricket? Should all be over in about err ..........12 minutes
  3. Miserable b45t4rd Kinda know what you mean though Brett. As for top 3's could never really do one as there's so much out there really it would change constantly & I'd get bored of it all if it didn't. Noticed Webby had King Tutt as his number 1 & have to say that if I was cornered & had to pick my favourite record that would be it. Was a groundbreaking record for me as the first time I heard it I just knew I had to have it & it was probably the single record that moved me in the direction I followed musically. Still sounds as fresh today as it did 30 years ago but Modern? Then yes but now - Hmmm. If you want to know what new releases I'm loving at the moment they are the new Will Downing album - Classique. Just so so smooth & Soulful vocally you just fall into it. Have a preview here. https://www.amazon.com/Classique-Will-Downing/dp/B0026IZR48 Also loving the new Down To The Bone album - Future Boogie. A few clips on this link. https://www.myspace.com/downtotheb Soulful House wise IMO the best current release is Promised Land - The Collective feat Peyton, same again, follow the link https://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=32968
  4. Probably the Maysa Leak version from a few years ago. Should still be able to pick it up from places like 'Discogs' for around a fiver. Great version & Kenny forgot to mention it Was also a rather good live version from 2007 by Bloodfire. Snippet on the link below. https://www.ifmusic.co.uk/product.php?products_id=7287
  5. Have even heard Trevor Nelson (sorry for mentioning him on here!) class it as Rare Groove. Would class it as 'Cross Genre' really if I really had to pigeonhole it. Fits the bill on whatever scene you want to play it on. Just a quality record by a quality artist.
  6. Might have bloody known. Nice one Rod
  7. Nighter at Tesco's? Sounds good to me Al. Can make the booze aisle the Modern room, pick up some groceries while I'm there & even get clubcard points on the admission fee. Even got plenty of parking space Bring it on, that's what I say
  8. Is it this? ">
  9. Montclairs - Hey You Jackie Day - Naughty Boy Motherfox - Fallen Into Love Only joking on the Motherfox Simon & yes I know you got it from Soul Bowl for 25pence & 2 sherbet dips
  10. Can post it as a refosoul clip Helena. If you ain't sure how to do that send it me as an mp3 via PM & I'll sort it out.
  11. Yep Different take Gasher. 7" a shorter version & very very rare as well (possibly 2 known???)
  12. Hmmm good question young Al. Speaking personally as a supposed Modern fan could I survive without Northern Soul? I'd miss it but sooner or later I'd find some other group of folks to take the p155 out of
  13. Sorted with all three now. Thanks to Zane & thanks again to Daz & Gareth
  14. George Benson sorted as well (thanks Gareth). 2 down, 1 to go.
  15. Now got the Trumains (thanks Daz) but still after the other George Benson 12" & the Buena Vista.
  16. Can't see the Wigleys, Croasdells, Mcabes etc of this world standing by & let this happen somehow. Not only that but it's a totally different kettle of fish nowadays as a lot of folks are just as happy to attend local nights & probably travel to attend the so called bigger events once every couple of months or so. Kings Hall has a Modern Room & has clashed with our nights in the past & it hasn't really affected us that much. Keep on doing what you think is right as it seems you are doing at Burnley & the folks will keep on supporting your event & the people who want the bigger events will carry on doing what they're doing. Still plenty of folks out there who prefer the smaller more intimate events.
  17. Moerer's got a boxful Dave. Might be worth waiting a while though as it's getting re-issued so copy's of the original are bound to come out of the woodwork & the price will plummet IMO.
  18. Sell it me then Got a Jap CD single release (pics below) & think it also got a CD single release on GRP (possibly German?) Got any info on the Buena Vista John?
  19. 3 quick wants. Trumains - Ripe For The Pickin - RCA demo or issue. George Benson - When Love Comes Calling - 12" preferred but CD single will do for now. Buena Vista - He's Okay - Forgot label (possibly ICE?) but know it came out on 2 different labels (1 Canadian possibly?). PM or e mail modernism@blueyonder.co.uk & I'll get straight back to you. TIA Mart...
  20. Link below to the BBC iPlayer thingy for anyone who was out & might have missed the show. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00kn...Mix_23_05_2009/
  21. Junior's the best of the 'B Boys'.
  22. Three from me. All different but then again all strangely similar. ">
  23. Very nice Roger Hope your'e working on part 5 & 6 fella. (Not sure if Hector will agree though )
  24. Have edited your first post Steve to remove the mp3 & put it in refosoul for you. Also didn't realise that Patrick Henry was recording as early as 1982 & the clip sounds very similar to some of the stuff on his mid 90's album 'Come & Get It' & his 2007 album also (sorry but forgot title & can't find it at moment). Not much help I know but thanks for posting & am sure someone on here will come up with an answer.
  25. Was hoping no one would have remembered that thread Right about the revisit though, great thread.
