  1. More like criminal records. Saved you the troule Jocko
  2. Just booked you in at the local Hillsborough docs to get the old ears syringed Joe. Right about it being on Jama though. Don't know where Pama came from.
  3. Knew that would be your choice Brett but how about this? One of the few records we both actually own & on the right label too ( UK Pama). Would also include it in my 'most Soulful' chart if I was ever put on the spot to do something that daft. WILLIE FISHER - PUT YOUR LOVIN' ON ME - TIGRESS -
  4. Ah Crossover, that's easy. Too slow / unknown / rare / new / soulful (delete as applicable) for the Northern scene. Too old for the Modern scene. Uncomfortable bed partner of both scenes though & equally brilliant & sometimes awful. Right what's next then???
  5. Took bloody ages to find that. Red one also credits Gwen Matthews as the artist & the blue one just credits Clifton Dyson so ignore my drivel above.
  6. Always thought 1 was issue & 1 demo. Not at home so can't check but will have a look later. Like Gareth say's both common & also noticed it going for far too much recently for some reason. Anyone playing it? Hope so as a great record. Also moving to correct forum while here.
  7. Wannabuyadeg
  8. Thanks for reminding me about that John. Dropped it at Morecambe weekender last year & might have to dig it out again this year. (does this mean I can wear the hat without you taking the p155 my friend ). Glad you liked it Webby. Might even start a cover version/remix thread in Refosoul. Have a listen to the Grooverider b4st4rdised version of Gil Scott Heron's Bottle to wet your appetite. /more/soul-library/grooveriders-feat-gil-scott-heron-bottle-remix
  9. Popped this in the correct forum for you Charles.
  10. Moved to correct forum.
  11. Bit like House music then Beeks old boy Good question John. Always assumed it was percentage rated as in + or - 4 = + or - 4% but might be wrong. Anybody?
  12. Even better still. Add your own vocal or has it been done already. Thinking Jesse James - Mayer Hawthorne for a start
  13. Simple really. Buy the cd. Carve some of the tracks to vinyl. Pitch e'm up or down (see other thread). Cover e'm up as something like the Motown horns & bob's your uncle. The next big thing on the Northern DJ'ing circuit.
  14. Reads 2 ways that Jocko Back to the topic. Tools are there to be used so use them if you feel comfortable doing it. Think most folks who don't use stuff to enhance the music output mainly don't do it through fear or ignorance of the technology available. Let's be honest about it. We've all got records that we think are too fast or slow so do summat about it. Not bloody rocket science is it.
  15. Sorted now. Think it was an error by the poster as was recurring event. Thanks for the alert. Will lock this now.
  16. Blackpool tower 2009 Times like this it's good to be a Blade Kev
  17. Calm things down a bit please lad's & steady with some of the accusations & try to keep on topic.
  18. He has copied the song from Sam Cook nearly note by note, The only river Seal was born by was the F**king Thames He could have changed the words to "I was born the son of an interior designer, by the river Thames, next to a pie and eel shop, where the river bends" (hey and I like him!)
  19. Sorry to disagree with you Rob but don't think the comment about Seal is justified. I just don't think it's possible for anybody to sing ACIGC & not sing it like it was from the heart. Just take a listen on some of the youtube links below to see what I mean (not gonna fill the thread with embedded clips as it don't half slow down the site). First clip is the Solo version (yes the same Solo who did the Modern anthem 'Blow My Mind'). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6uzbkBgxTo&feature=related Here's Brenton Wood's version. Something different now but try to tell me the message ain't there. Terrence Trent Darby. Billy Preston. Patti Labelle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bCVDXTIynY&feature=related Strange one now, Lauryn Hill's acoustic version. Apologies for Wycliff's 'one time bollox' & finally my favourite version. Vel Omarr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSR88bc4eoA&feature=related All different. Some old & some new but all sung from the heart I'm sure you'll agree. Oops almost forgot. The Seal version is on the link below.
  20. Certainly don't get much weirder than that little list. Ian D just shades it for me
  21. Just copied the below quote from Gil Scott-Herons webpage that promotes his new album that was released today. To do as the man says click on the link at the bottom of this post & listen to the entire album. Just scroll down on the link to the box that looks like a flier & hit play all. A few strange tracks to say the least but well worth a listen for 'I'll Take Care Of You'. Be forewarned though, The Bottle it ain't, well not musically but it probably is lyriclally. There is a proper procedure for taking advantage of any investment. Music, for example. Buying a CD is an investment. To get the maximum you must LISTEN TO IT FOR THE FIRST TIME UNDER OPTIMUM CONDITIONS. Not in your car or on a portable player through a headset. Take it home. Get rid of all distractions, (even him or her). Turn off your cell phone. Turn off everything that rings or beeps or rattles or whistles. Make yourself comfortable. Play your CD. LISTEN all the way through. Think about what you got. Think about who would appreciate this investment. Decide if there is someone to share this with. Turn it on again. Enjoy Yourself. 22. LOL, think I was outside having a smoke with you Ian cos I can't remember him playing it either. Might have been Lasse who posted it up on EMS though so the album info might be getting somewhere.
  23. Sadly not Sebastian other than it was a German release & think the other album was a European compilation. Sorry if the info is a bit incomplete but I got it from a fairly old thread on the EMS forum. The soundclip that was posted on there was stated as being took directly from the German album.
  24. Mentioned on here before as well Ian. Think I put it in the wants forum a while back but with no joy. Think you'll also find that the Jackson Sisters recorded it first but Mark Capanni had something to do with it (writer or producer possibly). Might be wrong but don't think it got a 7" release by M C even though there's a pic in the refosoul clip but it did come out on a couple of albums. Sure if you pop Mark Capanni into the site search box something will come up. PS, if you manage to get 2 copy's bring the spare to Morecambe for me mate
