  1. Just been browsing through some of the recent crop of 7" vinyl releases & stumbled on this breath of fresh air by The Sunlightsquare Latin Combo. It's (another) version of The Jackson Sisters classic I Believe In Miracles & with all the furore surrounding the Mark Capanni release I thought I'd bring it to everybody's attention on here as it's pretty dam good & so is some of the other stuff by them (IMO). It can be bought from the Sunlightsquare site on the link below so you know your cash is going directly to the source. Might want to check out some of their other stuff while there as it's so refreshing to see & hear real music played by real musicians like this in 2010. https://www.sunlightsquare.co.uk/fr_home.cfm
  2. Just a couple of points. 1, Why is it every time topics like this get thrown up people always assume the whole Soul scene is in a mess just because the Northern scene is? The Northern scene is just a tiny bubble in the Soul scene. 2, It's not that there are too many venues, it's that there ain't enough punters going to the venues that are on. Stop taking the negative option & get off ya arses & support the nights that are on as you'll all be moaning when there's now't left.
  3. Loving the Joe Battan

  7. Also affecting UK to UK postage as well. Am waiting for some important legal doccuments. Have also had the following e mail from person on e bay I bought some goods off. Your order had been processed and it had been scheduled to ship out on next working day. Delivery period is around 4 to 9 working days, you should receive by this period. Due to the volcanic ash air chaos, Royal Mail has announced that it is impacting some of the UK domestic mail. Your order might delay by this and it is grateful if you would wait for few days later if item not arrive in the mentioned period. Thanks for your patient and sorry for any inconvenience caused. Just a case of sitting tight & waiting iI guess.
  8. Oops Seem to remember it being discussed somewhere before (possibly EMS?) & nobody was sure. If it is legit my apologies go out to you if you see this whoever you are. Must dig it out to have a nosey at the label for clues as to who it was.
  9. The 12" is a mix of the A & B side of the 7" (vocal & instrumental). Also rather dubious. Have heard that it's a bootleg & also that it's legit so maybe some others can clear this up. Never seen or heard of a LAX 12" As for rarity the 7" is far rarer & also vastly overpriced IMO. Expect to pay between £25 to £50 for the 12" & the sky's the limit for the 7". Fantastic record as well.
  10. Strange as I got my real copy of the Pages off a very well known record dealer who was convinced it was a boot. Even managed to knock him down from £6 to a fiver
  11. Oh balls, that'll teach me to try & be clever Just off to do a nifty edit Cheers Dave
  12. Right then let's clear this up. The original 7" version with the bongs is issue no 1879 as in the pic in the first post & is going for around £50 to £70 give or take a quid or so. Listen below CURTIS - HOW CAN I TELL HER - The second release without the boings is issue no 1932 & is totally worthless so please post it to me to save the embarassment of getting caught with a copy. Listen below again. CURTIS - HOW CAN I TELL HER - The 12" version in the pic in the first post is also very in demand with the Boogie collectors & is currently changing hands for around £150 a copy. Will that do?
  13. Will swap my 7" with the boing boing for one without it.
  14. Come on then Plumby. Get a snippet posted up in refosoul so us mere mortals can have a listen.
  15. Err somebody did when it was a new release & spun at venues on the Modern scene all over the country. Like knocking nails into sawdust sometimes with records like this when folks won't pick up on them as new releases for various reasons (too new, wrong format etc). Got to give Ian 'Geordie' Johnson credit though for spinning it as a new release alongside us at Modernism. Just a shame there ain't a few more like him around.
  16. You mean the John & Wierdest boots that turn brown when held up to the light? Might be true then as most of us Yorkies are so tight we wouldn't turn the light on Anyone else seen the irony in Tim Brown getting duped by a Brown record Anyway back on topic. Calling this Cunnie's revenge on all the folks who have laughed at me over the years for alway's prefering the 12" option over the 7". Paid a pittance for my 12" of Kenny Hambler when all around me were paying silly money for the 7" boot. Knew my day would come PS Steve, prefered the old avatar fella.
  17. Don't think it was John. Great gesture BTW to refund everybody https://www.popsike.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-45HERBERT-HUNTERI-WAS-BORN-TO-LOVE-YOU/330071676173.html
  18. Me & Julia Nicoll got the best mix MUTHAFUNKAZ V MICHAEL PROCTOR - FALL DOWN -
  19. Posted this in refosoul way back in 2006. Think I got it in a pile of swaps off Sam. Pricewise would guess about £50 to £70 for the 7" but not sure on the album. Its Never Too Late was also recorded in French so would be interested as to which version is on the album. MIDNIGHT - ITS NEVER TOO LATE -
  20. Ooerr that didn't take long did it boys. Right then seeing as I threw the cat amongst the pigeons (along with many others on this thread) I best reply to you both. Firstly Paul. My post to you was tongue in cheek & maybe I should have included the odd smiley in it to make that obvious to you. Just found it quite funny that of all the people on the thread you chose to reply to you picked Roger who is one of the top 2K Modern Soul DJ's in this Country. Sure now you know who he is you can see the irony in it now, least I hope so. BTW I'm not called Ian You ain't the first & probably not the last to make that mistake. Roger, Agree with what you & Paul are saying even though you are coming from different angles of the Soul music spectrum. Now't like a bit of good old fashioned fire in folk's bellies to stoke things up & good to see you both posess it in bucketloads (cue denial). Anyway instead of all the usual comments like New, Old, Rare, Cheap, Underplayed, Overplayed can we not just call it good music??? Oh what the hell I'm off to EMS. Far more fun on there now everyone's up in arms talking about Northern. Right back on topic sort of, Can anyone tell me how the Modern boy's went down in the same room before it was handed over to Mr Cato & co??
  21. Great post Paul. Agree with a lot of what you are saying. Just the one slight hiccup though, The post was a reply to Soulsorts AKA Dodger AKA Roger Williams. A DJ who has probably heard, played & championed more new Soul music in the first 3 months this year than you will hear in an entire lifetime. Just take a look at some of his playlists if you don't believe me.
  22. Thought the clip above might have generated a bit more interest. Maybe the vinyl version will
  23. Not bad & a mate of Snoop Dog as well. Been around for a while now. Have a listen to him covering a big Butch spin. Proper Northern
  24. Wonder how many know the Love Machine version. Took from my old mate Russ Stelle's youtube pages. https://www.youtube.com/arssoul#p/u/174/juQ-DBEvqCI
