Fair enough description there Sean.
Think a few years ago I described Crossover as an uncomfortable bed partner of both the Northern & Modern scene sort of fitting somewhere inbetween & still stand by that.
My demo has Groovy Situation on both sides.
The other copy I have has Groovy Situation on 1 side & The Loser on the other. Think it's an issue as the middle has been dinked but both the same number. Strange thing is I got it from a guy in Jamaica.
Was the winner from Wakefield Pete as I put a mate onto it as he's been bugging me for mine for a while.
Like you say Pete, very very scarce with The Loser on the flip. Just checked mine & it's the same number on my Groovy Situation demo & the issue with The Loser on the flip (TR7887).
If I'd not already got it I'd snatch your hand off for that price fella as paid quite a bit more for mine. Bargain for somebody for sure
Threads for all 3 nights in question in the lookback forum for comments like this.
Would be interesting though if the promoters of the 3 venues (Blackpool, Derby & Rugby) could post up on this thread the capacity of the venues & the numbers in to see if there was any effect on the others.
Remember it being printed in Big Daddy mag as if it was yesterday Mike.
Big Daddy also did 2 great in depth interviews with Soul Bowl's John Anderson & the late Dave Godin that were great reads.
There are loads of GREAT new & recent releases too.
Problem is most folks won't listen to them until they are 30+ years old & on 7" vinyl.
Oh well, their loss I guess.....
Spot on Nev.
Sure if it was for sale it would be on their own website & also on here & the other forums by now via a link.
Suprised it took you so long to get the pic of your issue up Must admit though it is rather nice
First Motown record I ever bought was also my very first record owned & it was I'm Still Waiting by Diana Ross.
Started me on the right road I suppose but the funny thing is I don't really like Diana Ross's voice at all.
Thought I'd bring the new album 'Who's Rockin You' from Southern Soul star Donnie Ray to your attention as the title track is rather good IMO.
Not the first time Donnie Ray has been mentioned on here as one of his previous releases caused quite a stir a few years ago with the Juke Joint' video.
Have a listen on the first youtube clip below & then take a look & listen to the 2nd clip for the 'Juke Joint' clip featuring Come Back & one of the best DJ's I've ever seen.
The whole album is available for purchase on the link here. https://www.stevessoulsounds.co.uk/shop/product.asp?xPRODUCTid=1431

Nice thread.
Just been chatting to Adrian who used to run Strads with Steve Croft in Rotherham & he said they had it for sale in 1975 on Gamma & also on French label AZ.
Did a quick search & all sounds about right & there's an AZ copy for sale on Discogs really cheap if you're quick.

The long version on the Italian Derby album from 1974 is a bit of a mystery though but it does tie in with other work by the writers & if owning true originals is your thing it looks like the album is the one you need to buy (best version too IMO).
While there also did a search of the Derby label & there was no mention of Will Collins & Willpower but thats something for another thread I guess.
Still laughing at a conversation I had with Sean about the previous show with Tat's when he said it was like landing a plane with a monkey in the cockpit.
Tell you what Ian, that David Ruffin mix is good & I mean really good.
O'Jays - Lee Jeffries??? Thought it was Dirty Disco or summat like that or is that young Mr J?
CLG, I assume the cheque is in the post
Great show fella
Don't know what this obsession of yours with Duffy is all about Malc?
End of the day it's a quite good pop record with a retro theme & if you look carefully there's a couple of site members in the video
Enjoyed that but picked up on Nev's son's quote as the music is just dubbed over (sadly).
Would love to know what the kids in the clip were really dancing to.
You think describing Northern Soul is difficult.
Was asked what Modern Soul was the other day so I said 'do you know what Northern Soul is?'
They said yes so I said 'now move forwards 35 years & get rid of the silly clothes'
