  1. Tune of the weekend at last years Morecambe Soul Festival.
  2. I say Mr Jones, If you would be good enough to bring the Randolph Brown to Morecambe I'll have it my friend (not paying any bloody postage though ). PS, is that my old copy of the Gifted Four? Seem to remember you promised to never sell it when we swapped
  3. Really glad you posted that Steve. Was out in Nuneaton a few weeks ago at a Northern event & one of the kids featured in the link was there & was having the time of his life on the dancefloor & was IMO the best dancer there. The guy I'm talking about was the fella in the red Fred Perry shirt with the blonde mushroom haircut.
  4. Didn't realise Sam had played any Hunter Hayes Nick. Which one, It's Not Over or the Blaze Live Together thing? Not bothered either way as got both for peanuts but be nice if they are worth a few quid.
  5. Along with many others it's such a hard record to play Rob. Too new & Disco'y for the Northern crowd. Too fast & Funky for the Crossover crowd & now too old for most of the Modern crowd. Bloody sounded good in the last hour on Sunday night in the Modern room at Brid last year though. Where were you Rob
  6. Leroy Burgess at his best. Normally play it alongside Dazzle - You Dazzle Me. Sound so good together.
  7. Agreed Sean. The soundclip above from refosoul is my 12" copy that used to be shared by Adrian & Crofty. Don't make it worth any more but to me it's priceless.
  8. Quite funny that Steve as I'm actually playing a studio cut of the Spinners classic I'll Be Around & I've got no idea whatsoever who it is. When I do play it I announce it as an unknown artist & ask if anyone knows who it is to tell me as I'd love to put a name to the artist. Sure Sean will confirm this as he's heard me play it out & I also asked him to help me find out who it really is. On a slightly different tangent, Richie Parker or Aaron Neville? Say's Aaron on mine so that's what I play it as
  9. Good to know I'm not the only crazy mutha then Sean Far as I'm concerned if a DJ plays a cover up he's just a liar. Could understand it back in the day when the bootleggers were rife but no need whatsoever these days.
  10. Tell you all what. If I was an artist & I heard some so called DJ playing my record and calling it someone else I'd stab him
  11. 20 minutes of sheer bliss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55e03MdPPP4&feature=related
  12. Music of the devil & to be avoided at all costs but if you still insist on listening to it you could pop into the Filthy Soul do in London this weekend. I'll be there
  13. In recent years on the Modern scene there have even been new & also pre-releases covered up. First example was Smile by Neo that was covered up by Terry Jones as Gil Scott Heron while available as a legal download on sites like Traxsource for around a quid a time. Second example was Him by Kenny Thomas that was due for release in the coming weeks. Heard it played on Solar by Tony Blackburn of all people as Kenny Thomas then in the very next show was played by Richard Searling as Him by Him. Quite pathetic really for the so called legendary Soul scene DJ's & if that ain't damaging to the original artists I don't know what is.
  14. Both Butch & Mick H are members on here so maybe they could tell us what they are planning if anything to put an end to all the second guessing. Horses mouth & all that....
  15. Laughing out loud here as you've covered me up Russ Best, Martin.
  16. Hmmm, but what about showing some respect for the artist whose name you have hid under a bit of paper? Like you say, a tricky & contentious issue indeed.
  17. Here ya go Simon. prince philip mitchell - one on one - atlantic
  18. Yes 9 volts. Also works on batteries (6 x 1.5 volt AA size).
  19. I'm well pleased with mine. Only grumble & that's only if I'm pushed is that the built in speaker ain't up to much but never use it anyway as use a pair of external speakers with it & if I ever take it out I use headphones so IMO they're up to the task.
  20. Started a thread about these late last year & yes I did get one for christmas
  21. Not sure what they are Pete but they do look rather basic & the different handwriting on each side is strange too. Not the sort of thing I buy & out of Shelleys Northern collection. Just thought they would be of interest on this thread.
  22. Just found this lurking in our Lasses Northern collection. Kinda backs up the argument for Stardust being a legitimate label as don't think anyone would bring out a demo of a bootleg (would they?). Hope it is legit as seen loads of Liberty Timi Yuro's go for up to a grand but never seen one of these before
  23. Sounds to me like you have the 12" underworld white label UK test press. Would say it is probably the rarest of all the copy's out there as seen far more US Salsoul 7" & 12" copy's & also more UK 7" Underworld issues. Sadly this does not reflect in it's value. Used to command around £100 but I think 1/2 that would be a fairer price these days.
  24. The one I got was Owen Grey - I Am Satisfied on UK Escort. The one I now want is Owen Gray - Am Satisfy on UK Collins Downbeat. Same artist but different spelling. Have a listen to them both on my facebook profile Nev. On second thoughts don't bother as knowing you you'll beat me to a copy
