  1. Seller states he's sold 4 other copies so this is his fifth copy to date & must throw up the question, how many more has he got???
  2. Set in 1968 according to this. Inspector George Gently: Gently Northern Soul It's 1968 and the racial unrest sweeping the United States has reached British shores, with the National Front launching a tirade against immigration and "multiculturalists' policies". But racial harmony can be found at the all-nighters, where disillusioned young people, black and white, escape the boredom of factory life to dance the night away to obscure soul music. In Newcastle, the haven of equality found at the Carlton all-nighter is destroyed when a young black girl Dolores Kenny (Pippa Bennett-Warner) is murdered. Chief Inspector George Gently (Martin Shaw) soon uncovers a disturbing and malevolent racist undercurrent lurking both within the local community and his own police force. Set against the backdrop of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Gently and Bacchus (Lee Ingleby) have their eyes opened to the shocking consequences of casual racism, as racial tension spirals out of control, leaving a path of destroyed friendships, love affairs and families in its wake. Refusing to let deep-seated prejudices cloud their vision, Gently and Bacchus work tirelessly to unmask how Dolores died.
  3. This might help. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01mg5n9
  4. Beat me to it Chalky. Like Chalky said ANY criticism is welcome as long as it is constructive. Don't forget most promoters are fans of the music too just like us & most of them will be more than willing to put right any wrongs.
  5. Probably a bit too Funky for most & just scraping in to this thread as was recorded in 1979 but not known by many & a bit of a bugger to get too. Transend - Don't Get None On Ya.
  6. Was once asked by someone trying to wind me up to 'Play something they didn't know' Good man Tony r/e Tribute
  7. An hours plenty for resident DJ's but make the bloody guests earn their money & make e'm do 2 hours (if theyr'e up to it ).
  8. Think Derrick Harriott - The Loser would be high up on my list too Pete.
  9. Max Romeo - Wet Dream
  10. Plenty of Modern DJ's out there playing quality danceable Soul music Chalky. Just needs people to drop the 'must be rarer than hens teeth & made before a certain year' mentality.
  11. Agreed Tony. Played it as a new release for a few weeks then dropped it. Seem to get a lot of requests for it now though but always pitch it down as it's way too fast for my old legs. Yeah, get the tar back on the boil for Cunnie as he's admitted to pitching records down....
  12. Exactly the point I was trying to make. Funny how most of the time when the Northern scene pick up on a so called House track it's a crap one. Tribute, Joi Cardwell, Mr Day (who ain't that bad really but why oh why Soul On Wax), Tribute To Betty etc.
  13. I stand corrected Tony. It was Simon Dunmore. Sinclair did Defected's first album but think I was confused by the D Train stuff like 'Darlin' Noticed nobody has dared to come out & support the as you rightly call it 'God awful record' for fear of eternal ridicule Tribute my arse....
  14. OK then, mean's I can have 2 goes. The terrible Tribute - Bob Sinclair that is getting plays in both Modern & Northern rooms at the moment. Even heard it played at so called Northern Oldies nights but why oh why? Got a lot of time for Bob Sinclair who own's Defected records but who mysteriously does not sing or play on this & also Ron Caroll who does but this is just a terribly poor supposed Soulful House record that should be hidden away for eternity. Even when DJ's do play it be it at a Northern, Modern or Northern Oldies night they have to make excuses for playing it like 'Marmite record', 'love it or hate it' etc. PS, for those that don't know me I'm not having a dig at Soulful House as it's part of the whole scene I love (Soulful Dance music from any era be it 60's up to present day releases).
  15. Bring the tar to the boil & unbag the feathers but Soul Brothers Inc - Pyramid is without a doubt the most over rated record ever played on the Soul scene bar none.
  16. All of the FFRR 7"s can be buggers to track down. Probably as they were aimed at a market that were more associated with buying 12" vinyl I guess. Suppose we may as well chuck Arthur Miles into this bunch too. Just seems hard to think of them as rarities for some reason.
  17. Dare I post this cover of a U2 song?
  18. If you like that just have a listen to George duetting with Jill Scott live with the same song.
  19. Back in the day you had 2 choices to squander your hard earned on, Records or drugs.....
  20. Surprised this has not flown out Azza. Mate of mine got £250 for his.
  21. Very rare on 7" as Sam say's above but best to buy it on the Red Greg - Under The Influence album on vinyl or on CD as mentioned above by Cubo as the 7" is 6 minutes long so the sound quality is poor to say the least. Also worth buying the album for the absoloutley brilliant New Interstate track that is even better than Donnell Pitman IMO. Can pm you Soul Sam's number if you still want it. Just drop me a PM & let me know.
  22. What you got up your sleeve Wigwam? Is it what I think or something else
  23. One here Andy on Steve & Lee Jeffries site. About the going rate too IMO & a bit cheaper than the 2 that have gone through Manships auctions recently. https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Rare-70s-80s/10435/love-in-my-life/#product
  24. Thanks for the info Pete Come On Home is on the other side of the album but I bet it don't play on that wibbly wobbly copy
