Seem to remember that the UK's largest dancefloor is officially the Spa at Bridlington.
Sure it's been mentioned on here previously.
Also one of the best but don't take my word for it cos I'm always in the Modern room or the Rare room
Funny thing is though Sean quite a few Northern Soul events are ran by people who are or were behind quite a lot of the bootlegging on the Northern scene.
Now that's what I'd call a 'Red Herring'!!!!
Always going to be pop played on the Northern scene as it's the only music genre there is that rely's 100% on other music genre's for it's music & cherry picks what fits beat & vocal wise. OK there are a few tailor made things like Ian Levine's stuff, Kings Go Forth, Eli Paperboy Reed etc but you can't really count them.
Also wonder where people stand on the Drifters, Pop? Soul? both?
Finished a few nights off with this over the years.
If you don't know it don't be put off by the fact that it's R Kelly & do yourself a favour & give it the full 4 1/2 minutes.

Just because people are not dancing don't mean they are not listening.
If you had faith in the record when you put it on the deck let it play.
BTW which record from the posted playlist was it?
Think this might be of interest to those not bothered about formats & also those on a limited budget.
20 classic Atlantic albums for £35. Less than £2 each.

Am I missing something here?
A blue second issue currently more than an Orange original with a day to go.

Seen as I have been mentioned a few times on this thread I suppose I may as well add a few words to it.
The record first came to my attention when posted up as a test soundfile on the EMS forum by Paul Sutton (Sutty on here).
I don't think it was known by most folks until then so I guess you could say it was Paul's discovery but as he's a modest kind of chap he's not after the glory that some would seek.
Think his copy was a 12" Groove Groove Melody test press but not 100% & sure he'll confirm this one way or the other.
Also think his copy ended up in Barnsley.
My 3 copy's came out of Japan as did a couple of others but that was before the earthquake & tsunami so I don't think there will be any more surfacing from there.
Know someone who also got a copy from Japan & he sold his for £300.
Think most of the copy's that were pressed (& there weren't many as I think it was their last vinyl release) were exported to Japan as only know 1 person who got a copy from Italy.
Would guess that there are probably about a dozen copy's flying around on the Soul scene here in the UK & 2 of them are mine but I'm keeping one & if the right offer comes my way for the other who know's
Must also mention Soul Sam made me an offer for the spare so when he does track one down expect it to rocket
Shocked by this news.
Was on my honeymoon with Shelley when I found out so my emotions were all over the place as the happiest time of my life was also shared with some of the saddest news I have ever had.
Had many a beer filled great night with Welshy & he was responsible for changing my life musically.
Also had to hand over to him when he did his last spot a few years ago in Hull at the Modern Soul Classics dayer & told him he'd be back & he was to my delight.
R.I.P. Gary.
Got my Ernie Johnson off Jens for a hell of a lot than this went for but not as cheap as Sean's sadly.
Mine's a red & white issue & they seem to be a lot scarcer than the demo's.
Was also re-recorded by him on another label (forgot the label for the moment) but the Rowan version is far superior.
Not reached anywhere near it's peak price wise yet as demand will soar when folks get to hear it & Sam starts playing it
Must thank Wayne Arbon & Brett Franklin for alerting me to said record.
First time I ever saw it mentioned was by 'Daddy Bones' in his Big Daddy magazine.
As far as I know this was well before it had any plays on the Northern scene.
Seem to remember him saying that it might be of interest to Northern & Modern punters but it was a couple of years after that before I actually heard anyone playing it, probably due to it's scarcity.
Seem to recall Jesse Butler joining this site a few years ago & saying that the supposed 2nd issues were actually pressed first at a different plant to the assumed first copy's so make of that what you will. Think it was a reply to John Manship.
Do seem to be a lot of both presses surfacing at the moment.
Also noticed how many of the late 70's things on yellow labels throw up the same doubts. ZZ & Co, King Tutt, Pages, Dwight Franklin etc.
Also a very credible version of 'Getdown' on an album from a couple of years after the 7" release to look out for.
Now I have your attention I'm looking for a copy of Sideshow feat Arthur Ponder - Sexy Lady.
Also want a cheapie, Bill Merryweather - That's Love.
PM me if you can help with these.
TIA, Mart...
