  1. Just seems strange Pete along with the recent Treasure Mind re-issue/boot or whatever it is. Also if I was re-issuing something legally* I wouldn't want every other Tom,Dick & Harry doing the same. *(When I say legally I mean with full artist, producer etc permission & a % going to them & not just paying a trivial fee to some licensing bureau if & when asked).
  2. Just a thought. Recently got re-issued on both Outta Sight & also in the Eccentric Numero box set. Can't both be legal then can they & if not both legit then which one isn't?
  3. That's the pre Stafford Clifton Hall influence Chalky Will be with Pat in a few weeks at Brid & normally have a natter with him about the good old days so I'll copy the above list & ask him. Bet he's forgot most of them though unless he thinks he can sell e'm me
  4. So what sort of music do you like Martin? Modern Soul. Eh, what's that. You know what Northern Soul is? Yes. Well now get rid of the silly clothes & silly acrobatic dancing, the pop stompers & move forwards 30+ years & you're heading in the right direction
  5. You said no? Strange decision to deny them work & possibly money. As for the record, just another pop song jumping on what at the moment is a fashionable bandwagon.
  6. Had a little bid but went for a bit more than I thought it would. Past bidding stupid money just to win records now as sooner or later another always turns up. Still not sure about those label's though.
  7. Finished at over $2000 in the end. Does this make it the highest price for a 12" single?
  8. Keb Darge playing Funk & not Rockabilly. Wrighty. Rodigan ( I know he's a Reggae DJ but you did ask for someone to bring something different to the table). Joey Negro (different again). Searling but not playing some of the sell out stuff he's playing to the masses at the moment. Mally from Leeds. Some of you might be saying who but if & when you do see him you'll see a kid who loves what he's doing behind the decks. Breath of fresh air on the Modern scene. Finally Russ Vickers but only if he plays Innerstate 95 & the alt version of Curtis!!!!!
  9. But there has Steve. Chris Evans played it on't wireless this morning
  10. Bloody thing woke me up as my radio alarm goes off at 7-15 & it's tuned to radio 2.
  11. The copy above in the pic looks like Paul's copy Mark. Heard the same story about the warped copy & that was a promo. Been reliably informed it's now in a frame on a wall as it's that badly warped it's unplayable. Only other person I know with a 12" promo is 12inchallah from France & he also has Arthur Fenn's old 12" issue copy that he paid a fair amount for (discression stops me saying how much). Like you say Mark the 12" has got a longer intro & break but also sounds so much fuller & the bass jumps out at you like a hungry tiger at dinnertime. Here's a brief clip of Allah's 12" demo.
  12. So there I am browsing on ebay & I stumble on this little beauty, my holy grail. A King Tutt 12" on Fun City. Now I have had the 7" on several occasions (got 2 now) & also got an extended unreleased mix that came off a Fun City mastertape but the 12" has always eluded me. I have seen 12" issues with the labels reversed & also 12" white label demo's but I have never seen a 12" copy with these stuck on white labels over the yellow labels to correct the original labels being on the wrong way round. Can anyone shed any light on this before I plunge in & make a little bid? https://www.ebay.com/itm/King-Tutt-Youve-Got-Me-Hung-Up-Ultra-Rare-Modern-Soul-Disco-12-Fun-City-mp3-/151036859605?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item232a7f94d5
  13. Strange. Found 2 different copy's on Contempo. One is 2-43 like the Paula cut. The other is 2-54.
  14. Always thought the UK Contempo 7" release was the longer version.
  15. Other option is to use old 78 covers. Junk shops & car boots are overflowing with them. Got a couple of 10" acetates tucked away in House record picture covers as well & do the job perfectly.
  16. Pat also said that he played it just before you Darran.
  17. First played by Pat Brady at Rotherhams Clifton Hall. Info came from Pat himself.
  18. Bobby Cline & Patsy Cline are in fact brother & sister
  19. Here you go. https://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/119780-01.htm
  20. Northern, Crossover, Modern Soul. All RnB based from Ray Charles through to R Kelly so accept & enjoy it all.
  21. Not that format concerns me in any as long as it's legal way but some of you might like this from Tom Glide & Timmy Thomas. https://soundcloud.com/tom-glide/tom-glide-feat-timmy-thomas
  22. Think it was started by me or I at least mentioned it on the thread Pete. Not worth a deal as you say but must be rarer than a Liberty copy as seen quite a few of them & they go for crazy money. Looks nice spinning round on a deck too if you're into that kinda thing. Just needs two people in a 'got to have' mood on e bay & ow't could happen. Like Simon say's above the Tempests goes for mad money & has even been booted on a Stardust lookalike label.
  23. Sorry I can't help with the list but does anyone know for sure if Stardust records are legitimate or not? "‹Have been told that they are legally pressed in Canada but have never received a definite answer. Reason for asking is that the Wife has a Stardust handwritten test press of Timi Yuro & have never seen another of this or any other title. If it is legit it must be worth a few bob bearing in mind how much the UK copy's go for & also the fact that it never got a Stateside release.
  24. Beat me to it Pete. Lucky enough to have got one & the only other time I have seen a Trojan copy of 'The Loser' was the one you sold to a mate of mine. Got to be very scarce me thinks.
  25. The 7" of Luther Davis is a little quiet but never had any problems with it & still play's like it did when I bought it. Is also a slightly different version on a 12" (not the Soul Cal thing) by a different artist but with a Luther Davis connection & also seem to think some Keb Darge connection too. Just can't seem to remember the artist & it's buried under 100's of other 12"s. As for Otis Clay I gave up on the 7" years ago as I knackered 2 copy's with cueburn after only a few play's so now play it off the legit 12" as the sound quality is so much better by far. Also better than the Japanese album so well worth tracking down.
