  1. I can't for the life of meunderstand why anybody would spend a tenner on one of these rather dubious looking re-presses when they could buy Lou Pride's new album called "Keep On Believing" for a couple of quid more. IMVHO it's one of the strongest albums of the year & features Lou's new version of I'm Com'un Home In The Morn'un. At least if you buy the album you know the cash ends up in Lou's pocket. You know it make's sense... BTW Congratulation's on the new arrival Pete, looks a bonnie lad
  2. Hi Rob' Im taking a King Tutt 12" with me. But wait i can hear you saying, "he's only got a 7" copy" Ya right Rob im taking yours BTW i dont think many folks on here are gonna heaven, do you
  3. Good luck with the show Brett, will be listening. Go easy on the lager's though
  4. Hey up Mark Had some great stuff out of Spin City over the years, recently got a copy of Willie Johnson - "What im going to do" in there, just gotta search & you always find stuff (should i be telling you all this?). Alan Millington was never the outright owner though, he just liked folks to think he was. Always owned by Andy & Pauline. Spent many happy hours in there (& many pounds too!) Gotta say though i think its far better at the new shop though, just politely refuse if Andy offers you a cuppa though! Remember all those James Coit's turning up at the KGB. As for the record collector at Broomhill, had some nice stuff outa there over the years. They still sell vinyl in the shop next door, really cheap as well. Got a Williams & Watson album outa there & the guy behind the counter said he had some more stuff on the same label, mostly early jazz stuff but found a Major Harris & a Billy butler album for a quid each! Happy days indeed
  5. Great thread this. Really like the 12" version of "Summertime" by High Frequency.
  6. Dont think it's ot vinyl but dont let that put you off. Tower Of Power a great album too, the stand out tracks IMO are "Move you lose" & "got to have your lovin" (was shelved in the early 80s though, not the 90s). Wants list 2 is in the post. Always try to avoid the expansion & togetherness albums though, nowt wrong with the music, it's the sleeve designs that put me off Great 1st post Phil, welcome to the site.
  7. Its right up your street Brett. It aint been off my decks for a while now. Fish at FER has got it in stock for 12 quid (& no im not on commission!), click on the link & it's no 582 on the cd album list. https://www.firstexperiencerecords.com/soul-grooves.html
  8. Cheers Simon Could you point me in the right direction mate.
  9. Got my 1st copy off Nev at Sheffield's KGB many years ago. Had another copy since then & neither of them jump, both hissed a bit though.
  10. Sorry about the other post, pressed enter & i dont know what happened. C'mon moderators, get it cancelled please..
  11. Just been listening to Lou Pride's new album called "Keep On Believing" & it's without a doubt the album of the year. 13 tracks of sheer quality soul music of which at least 6 are playable on the northern scene including an awesome new version of "im com'un home in the morn'un" & a great track called "love will make it alright" thats already getting spins on the modern scene. Anyone else on soul source heard it yet?
  12. Alan Harris is on my 12" wants list too along with a King Tutt 12 & Ronnie Stokes, i know, nice to dream. Seriously though, Alan Harris should be a lot easier than the other 2, just missed a copy last month for 50 quid.
  13. Guess you mean the vocal by Hank Diamond do you Mike? Put a soundclip on here & we'll all throw up Awful record IMVHO of course....

  19. Could'nt agree more Pete. Just one problem though, when we all do go somewhere more appropriate i don't think that many folks will be left will there
  20. Too bloody many Rob, Northern, Modern, Xover,Oldies, Newies (hate that term) RnB (old & new), Tent music, Modern oldies (always make's me laugh that one) etc, etc. Think there are too many people on the soul scene who have got nothing better to do than pidgeonhole music just so they can slag it off just because it dose'nt fit into there little window. At the end of the day it's all SOUL MUSIC so leave it at that. You playing mind games with us again mate
