  1. Great news this Rob, hope they're going to do a full set & not just 3 or 4 songs.
  2. Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news but just found out about the death of Lou Rawls. Another legend lost... https://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music...music-headlines
  3. Not that Roger. Brett tends to get a bit mixed up sometimes. He was probably eating some Belgian chocolates with a picture of Father Christmas on the box lid
  4. Bloody hell Brett, ya got me scratching my head now. Don't think i've played anything Belgium in the last year or anything by a guy with a beard for that matter. Great list by the way Dodger, don't think there's much i can add to that lot. Keep up the good work mate
  5. How much to get in Paddy?
  6. Go on then, what's the line up Paddy?
  7. Hey up Ivor, welcome to the site mate. I'm sure you're gonna fit in great on here, 1st post & you say Ady's losing his marbles! love it. Just in case you're wondering who this is it's Martin Dixon from South Yorks. See you at Prestatyn on the thursday again i hope. Lata, Mart...
  8. Happy new year to all Soul Sourcers from the Modernism boys, Errol & Martin Hope to see you all next year
  9. Great anagram Here's a couple more 1, inane vile 2, alien vein Seriously though in the 70s Ian along with Colin showed us the way forwards with the stuff they were playing at the Mecca.
  10. Was talking about Strads cafe, the electrical shop was up the road (was still open & ran by Adrian up until last christmas) The speakers at Strads are still being used & normally reside in my dining room but at the moment they've been borrowed by guess who? Rob Wigley! Got a funny feeling i know you & you're not letting on, think i know who you are though
  11. Don't underestimate the guys in Japan, take a look & listen here https://soul45.org/cgi-bin/radioshow.cgi Agree with you on Pat Brady in the early 80s. Forgot to mention Keb but couldn't make my mind up over where to put him!
  12. Been thinking of posting this up for a while & as it's livened up a bit today here goes. What are your best DJ's from the past, the present & your tips for the future? Here are mine to get the ball rolling. 1, The past, tough one this but i've got to go for the late Nev Wherry, got some great memories of Nev from the KGB niters in the 70s. 2, The present, on the northern scene it has to be Butch, on the modern scene i could name several {Fish, Mark Randle, Roger Williams etc) 3, The future, tough one this but on the northern scene keep an eye on James Trouble & the lads in Manchester but keep looking over your shoulder at some of the lads in Japan, those guys really know there stuff. On the modern scene there's only one winner, 19 year old Jamie taylor from Wallsall's soul underground. Saw him last night at the Bass Museum & he really had the place rocking, surely got a great future. A special mention must also go to the guys who fall into all categories, Richard Searling, Soul Sam, Colin Curtis to name but a few. Away you go........
  13. Well if ya throwing in Sam im going in with him & Roger Williams is coming in with us both (weather he wants to or not). Sure we'd be fighting like cats & dogs some of the time but when we all got out we'd have some great stories to tell & im sure we could all learn a bit off each other. Might take Pete S with us too (with his ska collection). Now that would be fun Merry Christmas Funky Lady...
  14. PMSL! Guess he owe's you for records then Joe
  15. Be great to see you there "Realsoulfan" Should be plenty of Clifton Hall stuff played as all the DJ's on the night were Clifton Hall regulars & Adrian from Strads who ran Clifton with Crofty & Alan helps us out with the sound equipment. Hope you can make it, be sure to come & say hello (always good to put face's to names).
  16. Think you'll find he got the beers in earlier this year at the Friendship Steve. I should know cos i lent him the cash to pay for them!
  17. It's a car park now, still get a lump in my throat when i pass it. Clifton was the best venue ever bar none , not only for it's music policy (where would todays modern scene be without venue's like Clifton with it's open music policy) but it moved the scene forwards in leaps & bounds & healed all the old Wigan/Mecca arguments. Simply the best venue ever. Think i might do a bit of a Clifton Hall tribute at our next "Modernism" night. (just round the corner from Clifton)
  18. You can download it legally here https://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=sh...itle_id&cv=2279
  19. Saw Alan last year at John Benson's birthday bash, not seen or heard of Pete Shirley for years though.
  20. Can't remember John Green, was just a bit early for me (no snide comments Steve or Mark!) but used to listen to Searling on Soul Source religously every Saturday evening. Anybody remember the Clifton Hall special he did when Alan Senior was his guest?
  21. Good innit Brett, listened to it yesterday. Loved the bit where he met Eddie Piller for the 1st time.
  22. Best line ever from a film...
  23. There's loads of em here https://www.gemm.com/c/search-for-artist-is...title-is-S.html
