  1. So where the hell has this appeared from? (JW 'b' side & not MH). https://www.juno.co.uk/products/nik-weston-lost-soul-funk-gems-volume/522685-01/ https://www.juno.co.uk/miniflashplayer/SF522685-01-02-01.mp3
  2. Agreed. One went for about double on Pat Bradys auction recently. Seen several other 1980+ things go through Manships for bargain prices too over the years.
  3. It won't be just advertised on here though. It's already plastered all over facebook for a start & I bet (assuming it's sold) that the winner already knows about it. News like this travels fast.
  4. Exactly why it should be sold on here (if sold at all) & not on Manships auction. The owner first inquired about it on this site, it's authenticity was confirmed on here so why on earth would you want someone else to receive all the glory & a hefty 20% commission on it. With a record like this history will be made wherever it is sold & the big collectors will all have a maximum they will pay wherever it gets sold also.
  5. Midweek nighters is the soloution!
  6. Both records now sorted. Thanks for the messages.
  7. Couple of cheap & easy wants to fill a couple of gaps. Randolph Brown - It Ain't Like It Used To Be - IX Chains issue or demo. Cheryl Berdell - Giving It All To You - EMT records. Must be mint or near mint to replace a crackly copy. Reply via private message please. TIA, Mart...
  8. Over a month now & still no joy. Sure someone must have a copy for poor little me. PM if you can help out & I'll be a happy bunny.
  9. Let both of the 7" copy's go & kept the 12" simply because it had the best sound quality & got good offers on the original CSC & the 2nd press Hamito - Semitica copy. The clue to the original I believe is on both of the supposed represses where it clearly states a CSC recording. All got the same number as well 104. As for rarity I have seen far more black copy's than CSC copy's but the one I have seen the least of is the 12" (just my observation). Guess now Manships auctioning the black copy that could all be turned upside down though
  10. Had a want on here a while back for the Carlton & His Shoes. Seller could have got in touch with me & saved paying Manship 20% of the final price. Oh well....
  11. Cracked in 2 places & vg+???? So guess if it only had 1 crack it would be mint then...
  12. Still wanting this. If anyone can help please drop me a pm.
  13. The Loser version I was on about is on a Derrick Harriott compiled album Pete. Also has a different stringed up cut of John Jones on it too. Will have a search for it for you. Aussie cut of Pat Kelly also stringed up & like you say probably the best example.
  14. Seen 3 different JA presses Paul. Black, Turquoise & Red. Think Black was first & one of the others was a 'b' side to Lord Tanamo, forgot which one though. Cue Toad as he's the expert on this kinda stuff.
  15. Got one sat on a shelf Russ. Now if you got one of these what I listed in 'Wants' the other day a swap springs to mind.
  16. Only 1 mix on UK Bamboo (unless the album cut is different) & that's the one with added strings & things for the UK market. Original mix was on Jamaican Studio 1 & the UK mix also got a Jamaican release also on Studio 1. Quite common for Jamaican stuff to be tweaked to make it more palatable for the UK ear, Derrick Harriott - The Loser springs to mind along with Alton Ellis - Shoo Be Doobie Do, I Love You on DJM. As for value I'd say about £125 to £150 if in good nick.
  17. Now is that the right way round Gareth?
  18. Pretty much my thoughts too Pete but no-one seems to know for sure. Also several have Soul on one side & pop on the other, Gene McDaniels & Timi Yuro
  19. Ian Green is married to Rosetta Hightower of the Orlons like you say. He is also my managers Father & she is his Step Mother. Sounds a great story but in reality my manager is about as soulful as a rusty nail. Timi Yuro also got a Stardust release, know how you all feel about the Stardust label but as far as I know they are legit & they even have the address printed on the label so hardly a bootleg. They also did test presses on hand written labels that are probably one off's of each release. Know this as the Wife has the Timi Yuro/Gene McDaniels test press copy (honest it's her's & not mine!!!).
  20. Anybody got a copy of Frank Dell - Sad Situation / What More Can I Do on a Valise 12" that they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price please? Drop me a PM with the price, postage etc & I'll get back to you asap. TIA, Mart...
  21. Was just about to say the same Mike. So who's doing the count then, me or you
  22. Me & Mike unless you want to volunteer Tony Seemed a good idea at the time
  23. My favourite. Odyssey - Battened Ships from the Odyssey album on the Mowest label.
  24. Well my favourite is an album track so yes There is another thread to discuss that. This is purely our thread for the poll so can ask to just keep it to title, artist & brief description.
  25. As ITV are planning a special documentary this summer to find the Nation's favourite Motown song we thought it might be interesting to do a Soul Source version. All we need is just the title & artist of one track & if you want a brief description as to why. Know it's not an easy task to narrow it down to 1 track as there are so many to choose from but massive lists will just be a nightmare. The thread will run for about 2 weeks & then we'll do the totting up & announce the results. Be interesting to see how the 2 polls compare. Away you go.
