  1. When I do my releases I ALWAYS order test pressings, usually 5 or 10 (depending on cost). As Carl says it can be very expensive to only see any mistakes/problems after you've done the production run. On the latest that I had done, the previously unreleased Shades Of Blue 45, they sent the first batch of test pressings as 12" singles!
  2. The issue copies of Shades Of Blue - Treats Me Right / New Spark Of Life are finally here! In a beautiful picture sleeve, after nearly 50 years in the vaults, the next legitimate release on Detroits legendary Impact label is available in limited quantities from all good purveyors of soulful vinyl, or from us directly at only £12 plus £2,50 recorded P&P. Paypal payment to soulvation@btinternet.com

  4. I met Lou back in 1987. I went to see him at his house in Las Vegas. He was rehearsing and writing new material (mostly gospel if I recall). A true gentleman.

  9. There were shit loads of blank Virtue acetates around about 20 or so years ago. You could have had Frank Wilson on one if you wanted
  10. Looks similar to the other "lookalikes". Same pressing plant maybe?
  11. Maybe so. But most folks would rather book someone else to play them
  12. As a promoter and occasional DJ, this is how I do it. As a promoter, I agree a minimum fee with the DJ's and pay them that even if nobody turns up. If the event is very successful I pay them more than the agreed minimum, As a DJ, I usually charge no more than a pint (and a pie if there are any). But then I'm not a "name" DJ who people particularly want to hear playing.
