  2. Currently sorting through the old vinyl in the cellar when i came across this one: 125th St Candy Store - Piece By Piece / Loving You Baby Is So Vey Hard To Do - Uptite What a fabulous double header. Has it been played out much? Phil
  3. Well personally it doesn't much matter to me what happens to the scene in 30-40 years as I'll be in a little jar on the mantelpiece. Mind you I don't want anyone else getting a hold of me records so they'll have to go in the furnace with me Phil
  4. Try this. The site's not always up but it features, on the face of it anyway, all motown recorded songs released or otherwise. Another SS member put me onto it last week. I've found it very useful in identifying artists on my Jobete acetates. https://www.a1-network.com/dftmc/main.html Cheers Phil
  5. And the last one. What a corker! A double sided acetate with an unknown artist. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 Any ideas who it might be anyone? Cheers Phil

  9. I used to be co-promoter for Bradford Queens Hall in 1988-91. I've got originals of almost all the flyers I ever did for it. Do you want a scan of them? Also I have flyers for the other venues I ran - Hinckley Leisure Centre, Bolton Town Hall, Burnley Thompson Centre, Leeds Astoria. They any good to you? Cheers Phil
  10. I don't agree with all of your musings on the modern soul genre Pete. But I really do share your sentiments on this one. Although it doesn't merit such a strong response from me. It doesn't deserve one, it's just totally nondescript. Instantly forgettable. Phil
  11. I've got a daughter called Tamla She's hardly a pet though. More like a gritty, independent one-off Phil
  12. There are two recordings used on the plain (no lines) label too. They are visually distinguishable by an X at the end of the matrix no. Same story with Milton Harris - She's Hurting Me on Mutt too. I'll try and post up soundfiles etc this evening. Phil
  13. Fabulous. Thanks. That's what i love about this site. Cheers Phil
  14. Hi, I've got a few Motown acetates up for sale on Ebay atm. but I have no idea who the artists are. I have sound clips of 'em in the Ebay sub section of the Sales section can anybody with knowledge of these things have a guess who the artists are? Cheers Phil

Before that 4pm-5pm a new show from me - Soul & Salvation, a mix of general soul across the decades, R&B, Nu-Soul & Gospel toons. A little different but you never know you may like it Cheers Phil
  20. CD release without paying license fees perhaps? Or am I just an old cynic? Phil
  21. Yeah. Great sound. In fact I'm gonna bang it on the decks the minute I get home from work Phil
  22. Five under 20 from me. Mixed bag but all great (to my ears anyway) Bettye Swann - My Heart Is Closed For The Season Lou Rawls - How Do You Say I Don't Love You Anymore Cicero Blake - Take It From Me Intruders - Check Yourself Robert Knight - Branded Phil
  23. I have Poets issue available. Phil
  24. Yep. because he didn't pull those out until AFTER we'd done the deals on the others. It was an excruciating 10 hous of dealing, chatting, drinking beer, eating chilli and buying a few records. The Magnetics came out about 15 minutes before I had to leave to go to the airport. I paid all the dollars i had left as a deposit.
  25. I had two, yes TWO copies of this in my hand in Detroit in 1994. On the last day of a trip to the US. Agreed the price ($300 each). Put a deposit down (no dollars left, credit cards virtually max'ed out), having taken the W/D's of Jock Mitchell, Duke Browner, Dena Barnes and a rather nice copy of a little record by The Moments on Hog (sold to Mr Willingham in '96). Got back to UK, got over the jetlag and rang the guy to arrange the wire transfer of the funds only to be told that some other British guy had had them. Not 100% sure who (never found out), but believe it was Pete Lowrie. Total sickener. Got me own back though, on the same trip I bought a Danny Moore for $3.00 and sold it to Mr Lowrie for £1000 Phil
