  1. I have one. I'll send it in two separate parcels if you like Ted
  2. The question was "What record you have heard recently that has this affect of you ? " Surely you heard these a bit longer ago than recently? That's why I mentioned the Noel McKoy track. Phil
  3. Too right matey. Wouldn't think of not visiting your good selves. You'll have to PM me your address & phone no. Phil
  4. What don't you like about this particular track? To my ears it's got everything. Have you heard it?
  5. Too right Anyway records aside I am looking forward to spending my Christmas day at Cocoa Beach in the Sunshine Stae this year Can't wait. Phil
  6. I have a copy of this (Ventura's) for sale if anyone's interested? Phil
  7. I am not dishonest to the core at all. Sinful to the core absolutely, can't deny that. I've never preached to you or anyone on here, but if you'd like me to? I would love to. i cdrtainly wouldn't preach about how I'm perfect or better than anyone else, I'm not. I'm as bad as anyone else and probably worse than most. I did mention that to him, but he said that's the going rate - look. When I impressed upon him the fact that some of these listings had been on for years and the reason was that they were overpriced his response is that they'll be cheap some day. But the Poets she blew a good thing at $60 is a tad overpriced wouldn't you agree?
  8. I'll probably get shot down in flames for this but ..... NOEL McKOY - SKATING ON THIN ICE is one of the best tracks that I've heard recently. This is one of the tracks off Levine's Northernsoul 2007 album. It is absolutely fantastic, uptempo proper stomping soul to my ears, right from the first bar. Love it. Phil
  9. Not at all. Christian is not spelt M-U-G. the guy takes an average of prices on GEMM and we all see ludicrously expensive prices on there don't we. Jut redressing the balance is all Phil
  10. The way I dealt with Bananas way of pricing when I went in April, was to pull a stack out, write 'em down and then on my laptop in the evening create "phantom" GEMM listing for the titles I wanted, go back the next day and buy 'em all for a few bucks each -job done! That said he doesn't have a whole lot of stuff. But these days I only buy stuff that I don't already have mostly, cos I can't be bothered putting stuff up for sale. Phil PS - If you find a Don Gardner - Cheatin' Kind it's mine, I dropped it honest
  11. Truly beyond words. I used to have people back at mine early 90's and had Arin Demain on Blue Star and Imagination Fraternity issue nicked. I would never invite anyone round mine ever again. Destroys the trust that one has in one's fellow man. Phil
  12. What I Want. Without a doubt their best tune period! Phil
  13. Now reduced prices
  14. I know. That's the point I was trying to make. I'm naively thinking a few hundred quid should sort the Motown albums out, and that's easily sorted by selling a few 45's. But no, it's not that easy is it? And now, in the immortal words of Magnus Magnusson "I've started so I'll finish". And, when you're trawling round Ebay you always come across that little 45 that you sold 20+ years ago for a fiver & a bag of chips ..... Phil
  15. I decided to not spend any real money on records any more, but to satisfy the collecting bug just collect all the Uk Tamla Motown LP's on both Mono and Stereo. Anyway since my decison about 6 weeks ago I have spent in excess of £4k (despite selling a couple of 45's) and I'm still nowhere near. It just goes on & on dunnit? Phil
  16. Dave's brother is Franny. Not seen him for a while. Dave passed on a few years ago now, and Tommy was caretaker at a school in Guiseley last time I saw him (about 4 years ago). Phil
  17. I have now got hold of a copy of the controversial album and have had only a quick listen so far. I am going away for a few days and I will be taking this along to listen to (not exclusively of course). When I have listened a few times I will give an honest appraisal of the tracks. But on first listen there are a couple of tracks that stand out as being rather good to my ears. Phil
  18. I like it The "Skating On Thin Ice" track is brilliant. Phil
  19. Now THAT's an idea. If I put my money into doing such a project can I count on all Soul-Sourcers to support it and buy a copy? I'll do a good discount, especially if you pay in advance. RRP £12.99, Soul Source price only £5.00 + £1.25 P&P must be paid in advance by paypal to wouldilie@soulon45mix.com Phil
  20. Not a bad idea, but 100 for £100 sounds better to me. Still want 6? Phil
  21. I have been buying and selling records (on a purely private basis) for many a year now. And it is my observation that it has, over the last 5 years or so, become increasingly more difficult to sell tunes outside the top 500 or 1000 for anything approaching their former perceived value. This means that, as Mark and others have said, that many really good but not "in-demand" records just don't sell. Or rather they do but only at a greatly reduced price from their perceived value. But the top 500 / 1000 tunes p[lus current in-demanders now fetch unvelievably high prices. At the moment I have about 2500 records to sell, with more being added to the pile almost daily. But I have no idea how I am going to get rid of anything more than about 10-15% of them. And I need to to fund my new found obsession for Motown albums:) Phil
  22. I'm from Yorkshire and I wasn't there that night at the Dome or indeed any other, and you're right I don't give a damn. In fact it has so little bearing to my life that I wouldn't have posted to this at all save for the weird comment by one Stuart T relating me, and Ian Levine's gym to this thread.
  23. What on earth is this supposed to mean? I've never been to either the Dome or Ian Levine's gym. If you're going to make fun of me and my faith at least have the decency to explain what you're on about.
  24. Sorry mate ..... bit tired ....been a long week. It is a good record, I agree. Maybe a bit gritty for some folks taste? I used to play it a bit back to back with JoAnn Garrett - Whatcha Been Doing as a gritty Detroit pairing It's much better than that George Lemons rubbish, but boy did I get a boat loada dosh for that one Phil
