  2. That's £2100 more than I paid for the rights to both the Jimmy Burns and Bobby James (including master tapes and a vinyl copy of each) Inflation ......
  3. Nah. It's all water under the bridge now. The old chemically induced fervour used to make for some interesting nights in the 70's & 80's
  4. The only thing we didn't provide was chicken in a basket
  5. Excellent band, done loads of wonderful tunes. I remember me & Crofty losing a fortune when we put 'em on at Hinckley Lesiure Centre. A douibly memorable night for me that was. A well known member of the scene at the time stuck a pistol in my face in the car park and threatened to kill me. Ah, them were't days Phil
  6. I used to play this at Bradford Queens Hall & Leeds Astoria c1989. A few others used to play it back then too. Is it worth more than £20 these days? Phil
  7. Does this count as crossover? Sorry to be thick but I don't really understand. i just know what i like. And I really like this.... All_That_Matters.mp3
  8. The LV Johnson release is brill IMO. But then again I know absolutely nothing. Phil
  9. I have a spare of I'll Never Say No on DC International that can go. Reasonable offer, it's yours. PM me if interested. Phil My spare copy will shortly be on its way to a new home in the North East
  10. That IS one that I regret selling. Over 10 years ago since it departed to Chez Willingham, and I still really miss it. Phil

I have one of these available for a non-silly price. PM me with non-silly offer if interested. Phil
  12. I have one available for sale in EX+ condition. Sensible offers (circa £125.00) invited. Cheers Phil
  13. Yep. I didn't sell the record. I believe several people did pay big money for it. but not off me. There were quite a few people desperate to buy the record at the time, as uit was the "next big thing". It was only when IL's involvement in it started being punted around that folks didn't want it. I reckon if there had never been a mention of Levine's involvement and a load of copies hadn't turned up it would be a very different story.
  14. A film done the right way in the majority's eyes (majority of the soul scene that is, pleasing all the "right" people and causing no offence to anyone) would appeal to the general cinema going or video watching public about as much hammering nails into their own eye sockets would. A generally entertaining film made to appeal to the vast majority of the cinema going public that used the Northen Soul scene as its backdrop would be widely slated amongst the Northern Soul cognoscenti. I can just imagine it, comments like "this film is supposed to be set in March 1977 and I know for a FACT that Searling didn't play that record until at least October 1977", "load of crap, ripping off the scene" etc etc etc ad nauseam. You know it would be like that. Phil
  15. I've never sold that. Still got my copy. Are you after one? Make me a sensible offer.
  16. Must be Danny Moore. I sold mine to Pete Lowrie (via Pat Brady) for £1000.00 (don't know what markup Pat put on if any), and I replaced it early this year for £60.00 Phil
  17. He did many more rercords than just "Footsteps". 24 hours a day used to be my face. But as I've posted before, the Noel McKoy track on the Northernsoul 2007 CD is brilliant. He does have rather strong opinions I agree, which can upset people sometimes. But it's only because he really believes in the music he's made. Many people of an artistic nature are very opinionated. Myself, for example Phil
  18. It would have to be .... Don gardner - Cheatin Kind, and Court davis, and Eric mercury
  19. I think perspectives can and do change. I have always loved listening to my sounds at home, in the car, wherever. I also used to love going out to venues and the social side of the scene. I used to love DJ'ing to share my sounds with others and occasionally show off. Nowadays though, I think I would rather stick pins in my head than go to a venue. But I listen to my records as much as, if not more than, I ever did. And as I listen alone I choose the playlist Phil
  20. So £800 is too much basically? Cheers
  21. OK. £'s waiting. even though I don't buy 45's anymore
  22. Parisians - Twinkle Little Star. Anybody got one for sale? How much? cheers Phil
  23. I must stress it is the Rockabilly, Danny & The Junior, greasy quiff waving type of RnB that i don't like. There ain't nothing wrong with a little bump n grind however
  24. It would appear that we do - amazing. However my finding RnB for the most part tedious and distasteful obviously still doesn't qualify me to have an opinion on anything
  25. Liking R n B? I agree you deffo should be banged up for that
